Checking before useFortheappliance’sinitialoperationorafteraprolongedperiodofnon-operation,performthefollowingprocedures:

1. Secure the water supply hose.2. Turn on the tap.3. Connect the power supply.4. Make sure that the water drain hose

is positioned towards a drain.Formoredetails,seepage37.

Before initial useThedefaultsettingisthe40°CCottonprogramme.Beforeusingtheapplianceforthefirsttime,runtheprogrammeWITHOUTanydetergentorclothingtorinseoutresidueormoisture.

NOTETheremayberesidualwaterintheapplianceduetothefactoryinspectionpriortoshipment.Thisisnotamalfunction.

Preparing the laundrySorting the laundry- Readclothingcarelabelstosortthelaundryintodifferentloads.

- Sortthelaundrybycolour,typeoffabricandhowsoileditis.Doingsowillhelpyouchoosethecorrectprogrammeandtemperatureforeachwash.

- Clothesthatarenotcolourfastshouldbewashedseparately.Washdenimseparately.

- Youshouldputbraswithmetalwires,tights,laceclothingandsmallitemsintoalaundrynettopreventthemortheappliancefrombeingdamaged.

Treating stainsApplystainremovertostainedportions.Fordirtandsolidstains,washlightlybyhandfirst.

Checking clothing- Checkthatthepocketsonclothingdonotcontainanyobjectsthatmaydamagetheclothesortheappliance.

- Tieupanyloosestringsontheclothingandclosezippers.Turnclothingwithraisedfabricsandzippersinsideout.Otherwise,theclothesmaybedamaged.

- Removeanyhair,animalfur,sandandothermaterialswithabrushbeforewashing.

NOTEDonotwashclothesheavilystainedwithlargequantitiesofvegetableoilorcosmeticoil(aromaoil,etc.).Failuretoobservethismayresultinthedoorsealswelling,causingthewatertooverflowandleadingtomalfunctions.

Using the Buttons

1. Power buttons- IfyoudonotpresstheStartbuttonwithin10minutesaftertheappliancehasbeenswitchedon,theapplianceautomaticallyswitchesitselfoff.

- Thedisplaybelowappearsfor3secondsaftertheappliancehasbeenswitchedoff.Youcannotturntheapplianceonuntilthisdisplaydisappears.

2. Start/Pause buttonPressthisbuttontostartorpausethewashprogramme.

3. Programme selection dialUsethisdialtochoosethebestprogrammeforthelaundry.(Seepages16-17.)

4. Additional function buttonsPressthesebuttonstoaddfunctionstotheprogrammetosuitthelaundry.(Seepage22.)

5. Mode/Child Lock button- Pressthisbuttontoselectthefunctionofprocesses,forexample,theRinseandSpinfunctionortheDrainonlyfunction.(Seepage22.)

- Pressandholdthisbuttontosetthechildsafetylock.Thedoorandthecontrolswillbelocked.(Seepage23.)

6. Time buttonPressthisbuttontopresetthetimeforwhentheprogrammefinishes.(Seepage23.)

10. Remaining time indicator- Thisindicatorshowstheapproximatetimeuntiltheprogrammefinishes.Forexample,‘2:05’means2hoursand5minutes.

- Thetimeiscalculatedfromtheweightofthelaundrymeasuredwhenwashingstarts.

11. ECONAVI lamp(Seepage12.)

Unlocking the doorThedoorautomaticallylockswhileinuseandtheHsymbolisshowninlockedstate.Aclickwillbeheardwhenthedoorlocksorunlocks.

NOTE- Iftheapplianceisswitchedoffwiththedoorlocked,orifthereisapowerinterruption,thedoorremainslockeduntiltheapplianceisturnedonagain.- Thisisdifferentfromthechildsafetylock.(Seepage23.)

Press the Start button to unlock the door during operation.Afterapproximately1minute,thedrumstopsspinningandthedoorwillautomaticallyunlock.Ifthedoordoesnotopen,seepage27.

CAUTIONIf you have to unlock the door mid-programme, make sure that water from the drum does not overflow onto the floor.Waterandsoapsudsmaycomeoutofthedoorandthedooropening.Youmayneedatoweltosoakthemup.

Ifyouusemultiplechemicalsinthiscompartmentforwashing,addtheminthefollowingorder:1.Detergent2.Watersofteningagent3.Stainremover

DetergentUseonlydetergentsthatarerecommendedforfully-automatedwashingmachines.Pleaseuselowsudsdetergents.

CAUTIONIf the instructions on the package indicate that detergent should be placed in the drum, do NOT put it into the detergent drawer.Thesedetergentsmaynotflowwellandremaininthedetergentdrawer.Donotoverfillwithdetergent.Failuretoobservethismayresultinthedetergentblockingthewatersupply,causingthewatertooverflowfromthefrontofthedetergentdrawerandleadingtomalfunctions.

NOTEDoNOTuseliquiddetergentwiththePrewashfunction.Itmayflowawayduringtheprewash.

FortheWoolprogramme,usemildliquiddetergent.

Pull out the detergent drawer and add detergent or softener to the correct compartment. Check the packages for the recommended amounts.

CAUTIONDo NOT use the appliance when the detergent drawer is removed.Thismayresultinawaterleak.

Adding Detergent and Other Chemicals2. Powdered detergentDetergentreachesthedrumonlywhenwaterflushesthroughthedetergentdrawer.Thus,ifyouhaveforgottentoadddetergent,runtheDrainonlyfunctionusingtheModebutton.

Then,adddetergentandstartwashingagain.

Topreventpowdereddetergentfromremaininginthedrawer,performthefollowing:- Drytheinsideofthedrawerwithacloth.- Makesurethatthedetergentisnotlumpywhenyouadditbecausethismaycauseablockageovertime.- Ifthedetergentremainsinthedetergentcompartment,putitintothedrum.

Amount of DetergentTheamountofdetergentyoushouldusedependsonthefollowingfactors:- Howsoiledthelaundryis- Amountofthelaundry- Waterhardness

Theamountoffoamvariesaccordingtotheamountandtypeofdetergent,howsoiledthelaundryis,andthehardnessandtemperatureofthewater.

Water softening agentIfyouliveinahardwaterarea(totalhardnessof1.3mmol/Lorhigher),werecommendusingawatersofteningagent.Formoredetailsonwaterhardness,contactyourlocalwaterauthority.Useofawatersofteningagentcanhelpreducetheamountofdetergentrequiredforeachwashandhelppreventtheformationoflimescaledeposits,whichmaydamagetheappliance.

Softener compartmentFabric SoftenerTopreventstatic,addsoftenerbeforeyoustartwashing.Itwillbeautomaticallyaddedinthefinalrinsecycle.Ifthesofterremainsinthesoftenercompartment,dilutethesoftenerbeforeaddingit.Adduptoonly130mltothecompartmenttoavoidoverflowing.

Undilutedsoftener Water

Rinseouttheremainingsoftenerwithasplashofwateroradampclothafterwashing.Ifitstickstothecompartment,pulloutthedrawerandcleanitout.(Seepage24.)

Prewashing compartmentDetergent for prewashingWheneveryouuseprogrammeswiththePrewashfunction,alwaysputdetergentfortheprewashinthiscompartment.

1. Open the door and put the laundry into the drum.Fordetailsaboutpreparingandsortingthelaundry,seepages7,16,and17.

NOTE - Make sure to place the laundry within the drum so that it does not get caught in the door.Failuretoobservethismayresultindamagetothedoorseal,leadingtomalfunctions.

- Do NOT overload the drum.Thismaycauseexcessivevibrationordamagetotheappliance.

button.3. Turn the programme selection dial

in either direction to select the programme.Theprogrammetimewillbedisplayed.

ECONAVI programmeThisprogrammedetectsthelaundryamountandtypes(cotton,chemicalfibre,etc.)anddeterminesthebestsuitedwashtimeandwateramounttosaveenergyandwater.Thewashtimeandwateramountcanbesavedmorewithsmalleramountoflaundry,largeramountofclothesthateasilydry,suchaschemicalfibre,orwithhighertemperature.- LampindicationsBlinking:DetectingLighting:InECONAVIoperationOFF:NotinECONAVIoperation

drawer.(Seepages10-11.)

6. Press the Start button.Theappliancestartssupplyingwater.Aftertheappliancehasstarted,thelaundryisweighed.Afterapproximately5seconds,anewprogrammetimewillbedisplayed.IfyouselecttheWool,Rapid15,Shirts,Sportswear,Bedding,Wrinkle-care,DailyorRefreshprogrammes,thelaundryisnotweighed.

The buzzer will sound when the programme has finished, and the door will unlock immediately.Removethelaundryandrearrangewherenecessary.Donotleaveitinthedrumtoolongaftertheprogrammeendstopreventcolourtransfer.

CAUTIONAfter a high temperature wash, be careful not to burn yourself when handling the laundry or touching the inside of the drum.

1. Pull out the detergent drawer.

3. Put your finger on the tab near the front of the softener cover and pull it up to remove it from the detergent drawer.

4. Wash out the detergent residue with water.Useaclothtowipethewaterfromtheappliance.

Cleaning the outside of the applianceCleantheoutsideoftheappliancewithasoftclothandmilddetergent,forexample,kitchendetergent,andsoapywater.

WARNING - Do NOT splash water over the appliance.

- Do NOT use cream cleansers, thinners, or products containing alcohol or paraffin oil.

with the click of the detergent drawer to replace the softener cover in its original position. Then, insert the detergent drawer back to the main unit.

Cleaning the door seal and windowAftereachwash,performthefollowing:- Removeanyobjectsfromthedoorseal.

- Wipethewindowandsealtoremovelintandstains.

Cleaning the drain filterWerecommendcleaningthedrainfilteronceamonth.Thefilterwillhavelintbuildup,whichmayinterruptdrainagewaterflow.

1. Switch off and unplug the appliance.

2. Open and remove the drain filter cover. Then, place a container underneath it to collect the drainage.

Cleaning the water supply filterCleanthefilterifwaterisnotsuppliedproperly.

1. Turn off the tap.

2. Switch on the appliance.

3. Select the Cotton programme, and then press the Start button.

4. After 1 minute, switch off the appliance. Water has drained out of the water supply hose.

5. Disconnect the water supply hose from the appliance.

6. Clean the filter, which is on the rear of the appliance.Useasmallbrush,forexample,atoothbrush.

7. If the unit is supplied with the hose fitted with a water supply valve, turn off the tap supplying water to the appliance, disconnect the hose from the tap and then clean the filter on the hose in the same way.

8. Reconnect the water supply hose.Tightentheplasticjointfirmly.

9. Turn on the tap and then check for leaks.

Preventing a frozen water supply hoseIftheapplianceisdeliveredinfreezingweatherconditions,aftersettingup,leaveitatroomtemperaturefor24hoursbeforeusing.Thiswillensurethatthewatersupplyhosedoesnotbecomecloggedwithice.

Ifyourwatersupplyhosefreezes,performthefollowingprocedures:

Moving and Installing

Removing the anchor boltsFouranchorboltskeeptheinterioroftheapplianceinplacewhiletheapplianceisbeingmoved.Removethembeforeinstallation,usingthespannersuppliedwiththeappliance.Followtheinstructionsbelow.

1. Use the ‘B’ end of the spanner to loosen the four bolts.

4. Attach each cover cap (included with the accessories) over each bolt hole, and then secure them with the screws removed in step 3.

Test run after installationCheckforwaterleakage,abnormalnoise,andproperdrainage.PerformthefollowingproceduresWITHOUTlaundryinthedrum.

1. Turn on the tap.2. Close the door.3. Press the On button. You have to select

“Quick 50” course and “Spin only” mode. Then, press the Start button.After the water is drained, start a test run.

4. While holding down the Speed/Eco and Easy Ironing buttons, press the On button.

5. When the display appears as below (3 seconds), press the Speed/Eco button.
