THEBACKGROUND
The Opera was invented in Italy more than 500
years ago. The Opera Theater is the place where
the human voice is able to achieve its maximum
potential. Almost all the operas being performed
today use a Libretto, which is text written in Italian.
This is why the Italian language is being studied
throughout the world! And did you know, that
since Italian has the most balanced set of vowels
and consonants per word, it is said to be the
perfect language to sing?01
EVENTDESCRIPTION
We will be presenting Opera Italiana in outdoor concert spaces in a variety of cities.
The concerts will be free and targeted to the young generation.
In each city, our Orchestra will be composed of top professionals in the fi rst roles and the best
students and newly graduates from the major conservatories next to these professionals.
We are thrilled to announce that the Concert Master, First Oboe, First Clarinet, Principal French
Horn, First Bassoon and First Percussionist of the Metropolitan Opera of New York already
agreed to serve in the same roles for our Central Park Symphony Orchestra on July 2, 2018!

Opera Italiana gives the gift to the community to
experience and listen for free, in a gorgeous outdoor
space, the magic of opera and its sublime areas.
People of all ages and cultures come and enjoy the
magic of opera and immediately fall in love with it!
The Italian conductor Alvise Casellati will be the Music Director of our outstanding evening; the most “catchy” arias and
symphonic pieces will be performed with the goal that young people be enchanted and develop or deepen an interest in opera.
With all this relaxed atmosphere, young audiences identify themselves in the young performers and realize that opera is a cool
and fun experience. This year, the repertoire will focus on arias, duets and quartets from Verdi’s Rigoletto, Puccini’s Tosca and Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, plus a world premiere piece composed by an outstanding contemporary composer.
Dani Bedoni was the delightful Master Ceremony.
More than 2,000 people attended the concert in the Park.
US and Italian TVs broadcast the event and countlessnews, reviews and interviews have been written beforeand after the concert.
The celebration of Italian Opera has been made possible bythe Foundation for Italian Art and Culture, The AlexanderBodini Foundation, ACP Group, Brooks Brothers and ENI.Generous support was also provided by Bel Real EstateGroup, Urbani Truff les, Bracco Diagnostic, Inc. and GruppoCremonini. Further support was provided by Eataly, HarvardLaw School Alumni (NYC), Manhattan School of Music, andthe Edoardo & Antonella Salvati Foundation.
Naumburg Bandshell,an original feature of Central Park,
has come a long way from itsbeginnings as a mere classical music arena.
The site of both a speech delivered byMartin Luther King Jr. and an eulogy read
for John Lennon, it has become a placeof historical importance within the Park.
The original Mould Bandstand wasconstructed in 1862 but, later on,
It was decided that a bigger bandshellwas needed, and so the new
Naumburg Bandshellwas built in 1923.
