A personal statement or profile is your ability to demonstrate your strategic value for any prospective employer

It should provide the reader with an interest to read the rest of your CV

 Why do you need one?

• Provides a reason for a recruiter or employer to read the rest of CV

• Gives you the ability to make your first impression

 How to start?

• Don’t ramble

− Use between 50 and 200 words.− 50 words is better than 200!

• Demonstrate key skills

• Demonstrate key experience

 How do I do that?

Use the advert that you are applying for

If you don’t have an advert, then search for one for a similar role on-line, and use that as your model

Break the statement up into 3 stages:

• Who you are

• What you can bring to the table

• What your career aims are
