Open Source Software is Computer Software with its source code made available with license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose1.
Free software is software that gives you the user the freedom to share, study. We call this free software because the user is free. To use free software is to make a political and ethical choice asserting the right to learn, and share what we learn with others.
Open Source Software is application which is provide source code for modification and customization whenever Free software can download and direct use without any customization
Difference between open source software and free software
The idea of Free Open Source Software as we now know it began with the development in the early 1980's of the concept of "free software" by Richard Stallman2.
In 1990’s Eric S. Raymond and other developed term “open source”.
In 1998, a group of individuals advocated that the term free software be replaced by open source software
