Shipping Trainee in NORDEN

During the 2 year Shipping trainee program in NORDEN you will get a good and in-depth knowledge about international ship-ping and it’s challengers through both theory and practise.

Hands-on shippingYou will be based in our office in Singapore. From day one you will take an active part in our daily work and be a part of our dynamic team. During the two year trainee period you will spend half of the time in our operation department and half of the time in our chartering department. You will from the start be responsible for your own ships and customers. You will work independently and also in bigger teams. You will get an opportunity to take a short trip with one of NORDEN’s ships and visit ports in order to see loading and discharge operations together with one of our Port Captains.

Shipping TheoryAlong with the practical element you will also study Tutorship which is a worldwide recognised shipping education. In addi-tion you will have separate sessions covering maritime law, ships dynamics etc.

Worldwide careerAfter the two year education many of our Shipping trainees typically are offered a position at our headquarters in Copen-hagen or at other of our offices in Mumbai, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro or Annapolis.

QualificationsWe imagine that you will graduate from the university in 2008 with a bachelor degree or similar. But at least as important as your formal qualifications are your personal qualifications and your attitude. We are looking for open-minded and inquisitive young people who wish to make the whole world their “office”.

NORDEN was founded in 1871, making it one of Denmark’s oldest internationally operating shipping companies. NOR-DEN operates in dry cargo and tankers worldwide. Global shipping activitiesIn dry cargo, NORDEN is one of the world’s largest operators of Handymax and Panamax bulkcarriers and has sig-nificant activities in the Handysize and Capesize segments. The latest initiative is the entry into the Post-Panamax segment.

In tankers, NORDEN is active in the Aframax crude oil segment and in the

Handysize and MR product tanker segments. The product tanker activi-ties are commercially managed through the 50% owned Norient Product Pool, the world’s 2nd largest product carrier pool.

NORDEN’s fleet is among the most modern and competitive in the industry. In total NORDEN operates more than 200 dry cargo and tanker vessels in a mix of owned and chartered tonnage. In addition, NORDEN has an extensive newbuilding programme and 80 vessels on order.
