Lessons learned so far

» open data is more labour than simple open access pfd-files - both for authors and publishers

» additional questions: selection, documentation, citation, formats, curation, etc.

» other countries and disciplines (especially natural sciences like archeobiology, archeozoology, anthropology, ...) lead the way

» additional factors: technical infrastructure, legal complexity, longterm finances

» additional questions: selection, documentation, citation, formats, curation, etc.

» other countries and disciplines (especially natural sciences like archeobiology, archeozoology, anthropology, ...) lead the way

» additional factors: technical infrastructure, legal complexity, longterm finances

» necessary mental shift: not only publications, but also data is relevant for re-use in future times

» a project financed by the DFG (german funding body), coordinated by the German Archaeological Institute, Berlin (DAI)

» 2011-2014: requirements engineering and conceptual work 2014-2017: implementing technical, legal, financial issues

» mission: building and long-term operation of a national Centre for Research Data in Archaeology and Classical Studies
