The Church

Making its Premier debut in the Sturgis Community in 1953, the Sturgis Open Bible Church has proved to be an integral partner of the community since its Inception. The church and its members have a reputation in the community for being there to assist others in any way possible when the situation arises.

Moving to its current location at, 2121 Colorado Drive in the 1970's, the church is well positioned just blocks from the Sturgis Williams middle school and the bear Butte Elementary School in the midst of a well-established neighborhood.

The church is located in the middle of three lots with a city-owned basketball court directly behind. Even in the midst of the economic downturn, the church has managed to maintain its fiscal responsibility and is debt-free.

The church Elders bring a diverse mix of professional and personal experiences to the table to assist in providing support and counsel to their Pastor. Board members also assist the pastor by anointing and praying for those in need during services.

Members of the Sturgis Open Bible Church, place a strong emphasis on teaching the whole Word of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

The church building has a sanctuary which will seat 90 to 100 people for service with an average 2019 attendance of about 15-20 people. The church also has a fellowship hall, Nursery, classrooms, food bank, and a pastor's study. Services are held at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

City of Riders! Sturgis has known its share of different types of riders through out history. Be it the Calvary Riders, The Pony Express Riders or the Modern day Motorcycle riders. The city of Sturgis comes by its motto well.

The city is rich in its history, named after Colonel Samuel D. Sturgis who first made his mark during the Mexican-American War. Colonel Sturgis, who had been stationed at Ft. Meade for a time, later met his fate, along with many others, at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. (Ft. Meade is located just two miles east of present day Sturgis)

Presently the city of Sturgis makes its mark in history by hosting one of the World’s largest Motorcycle Rallies the first full week of August. Our small town grows to one of the largest cities in the state of South Dakota during this week long event.

Located on the far Western Side of Meade County, Sturgis has the boasting rights as being county seat. According to 2010 census statistics puts the population of Sturgis at 6,627 living in 2,916 households, with the average household age of 41.8 years old.

On the eastern slope of the Black Hills, Sturgis has many activities throughout the year. Be it rallies, We have the Mustang Rally, Corvette Rally, and every three years the Cushman Rally. We have a 1/8-mile Drag raceway, and many care clubs for the Classic car coinsure.

Maybe the outdoors is where you would like to spend your time. There are many attractions between Rapid City and Sturgis. Caves such as jewel cave or maybe hiking or Mountain biking over the 110 mile Mickelson trail where you can either hike or ride your mountain bike. Hike Terri Peak; known for its beauty at the top, this 4-mile hike is a breathtaking adventure.

Hunting and fishing are available for the outdoor sportsman. Dear, Elk, Pheasant just to mention a few.
