OpConnect Hawaii recently completed installing six charging ports at the new One Ala Moana condominium located at the Ala Moana Center, as well as two charging ports at Foodland Kehalani in Wailuku, Maui. With more than 1,500 registered EV drivers in Hawaii, OpConnect operates the state’s largest network of charging stations with nearly 100 charge spots at sites on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. Along expanding its network, OpConnect Hawaii also received an additional funding of $65,000 from Honolulu- based Ulupono Initiative, which initially invested $350,000 in 2013. The new investment will go toward strengthening OpConnect Hawaii’s operations and installing the company’s innovative Mark II charging stations statewide. “Our investment in OpConnect Hawaii demonstrates Ulupono’s commitment to supporting the state’s growing EV industry,” said Ulupono Initiative’s Managing Partner Murray Clay. “We are working closely with OpConnect to ensure our funding helps it provide Hawaii’s EV drivers with much-needed public charging support to alleviate ‘range anxiety’ and promote the use of EVs overall.” “Ulupono Initiative has been a terrific partner both with its investments and support of OpConnect Hawaii,” said Dexter Turner, OpConnect Hawaii CEO. “It has been rewarding to work collaboratively with a long-term partner that shares our vision for a better Hawaii. OpConnect’s network has been integrated with other EV charging station manufacturers to provide these and other features for their Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 products.
