Dear Parents
The Girl Guides World Thinking Day was celebrated yesterday and is
an excellent platform to once again reinforce the message of thinking
of others and challenging ourselves with activities that enhance our
sense of community. Mrs Bolton gave the school a very rousing
assembly and I was so pleased to see different girls in their uniforms
for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers and Cubs.
Our Celebration of Work evening was also a great success – thank you
to everyone who attended. The girls so love an opportunity to show you
what they have achieved! Our annual gala went off with its usual splash
and I think I can safely say that is was a day to remember! Enjoy your
weekend!

Headmistress
New School Motto - ALIS VOLAT PROPRIIS
Exciting news! Our School Governors have chosen a
lovely new motto for Seaton House School. ‘ALIS VOLAT PROPRIIS’ is Latin and it means ‘She flies with her own wings.’ At assembly this morning, Mrs Morrison invited Junior House and Senior House girls
to design a cover for next year’s homework diary, with our new
school motto in mind. All girls should have brought home a piece of
A4 paper divided into two A5 sheets. Girls, please
use your imagination to design a lovely cover for your
homework diary and hand it in to Mrs Baker next
week. Thank you

to run around the playground, with a view to building up to running a mile a
day. Simple! And the benefits are enormous – we feel better, we are fitter
and we can think more clearly. We can all do this – pupils and staff are all welcome to participate. 1.00pm every
day, in the playground. See you there!

have received a letter about this from Mrs Payne.

World Thinking Day
Yesterday was World Thinking Day and all of our pupils
who belong to the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Scouts
came to school in their uniforms. Mrs Bolton led a
wonderful, informative and interactive assembly about
World Thinking Day. The theme for this year is 'Impact'.
We learned about the importance of friendship and how
one kind deed each day can positively impact the lives of
everyone around us. The girls told us why they love being
part of their uniformed groups and renewed their promise. Thank you Mrs Bolton for such a
fantastic assembly that certainly had a positive impact on everyone there.
My Marsden March, 2018
Our Total raised so far: £690.00!
Pupils and staff will be taking part in our annual event of the
‘My Marsden March’ on the afternoon of Friday 9th March
2018, where we will be walking from Seaton House School to
the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, in memory of Mrs Sallie
Lunn, a former teacher at the school and to raise money for
the Royal Marsden Hospital.
We are aiming to leave school at 1.30 pm and return by 3.00pm
and hope that many of you will be
able to join us on the day.
The target we would like to achieve this year is £2018. If you would
like to donate, please click on the link below – and don’t forget to leave a message of support for your daughter. These messages are so
important to the girls.

Sleeping Beauty / La Belle au Bois Dormant
Just before half term, FIV acted out one of our favourite fairytales, The
Sleeping Beauty, in French. We brought in some costumes to wear and had
great fun acting out all the different roles. We learned lots of interesting
new vocabulary. We loved it!

Form II Poem – Come to the Carnival
FII have spent the week celebrating the Rio Carnival! They learned a poem
called 'Come to the Carnival' and used it as inspiration to write and perform
their own group poems. They used the
most fantastic adjectives and actions!
Quote of the Week – by Annabel, Reception
Annabel: ‘Victoria Sponge turns a bad day into a happy day!’ Teacher: ‘Really Annabel’
Annabel: ‘Yes, it just makes everything better!’
Excellent observation Annabel, Mrs Morrison couldn’t agree with this more…..
