Each year, three neighbors open their homes to a celebration of the food and drink of three different countries . Your passport gains you entr
ach country. A limited number of passports are sold each year, so act soon to make sure you don't miss out. Night In The Heights 2012 wilheld on Saturday, April 28.
Winnetka Heights is honored to dedicate Night in The Heights 2012 to the Turner House Centennial Celebration. The funds raised from Night
The Heights will be used kick off the building restoration campaign.
OAK CLIFF EARTH DAYThe Sixth Annual Oak Cliff Earth Day 2012 will take place, rain or shine, on Sunday, April 22, from
noon to 5 PM at Lake Cliff Park in the Rose Demonstration Garden in north Oak Cliff. The free, familyand pet friendly event will feature a farm animal petting zoo, pooch parade aka the Mutt Strutt, dog andcat adoptions, low cost veterinarian services, art and handicrafts sales, entertainment throughout the
day, children's' activities, exhibits, food service, recycling, water conservation, pollution prevention,plant society, and garden club information booths.The entertainment will include St Elizabeth's choir, a recycled fashion show by the Girl Scouts, the
drummers, and for the first time a Raptor Show.
Free parking and shuttle service will be available at the Methodist lot at the 1400 block of N. Beckley.

Preservation awards recognize Oak Cliff

Oak Cliff projects and people are well represented in this year'sPreservation Dallas achievement awards.The list, released today, includes:
* The Dallas Area Rapid Transit police headquarters (the formerMonroe Shops maintenance building) on South Corinth Road.
* Gloria's Restaurant (formerly Fire Station #15) at Bishop and
Davis.
* Renovation of four cottages on Eighth Street and Bishop Avenueowned by Dave Spence.
In addition, Cindy Maute and Francesco Costa will receive the
Craftsmanship Award for a plaster restoration at the Maute homeon North Montclair.
The Adamson High School Alumni Association, along with
Oak Cliff resident and Dallas school trustee Eric Cowan, will
receive the group'sStewardship Award for efforts to preserve the historic school. The
awards will be presented at a gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. May 16 at

Trinity River CorridorProject
The City of Dallas and the Trinity River CorridorProject launched the new Web site on Friday, April 6,
2012.
The new first phase of the site was designed to excite,
engage and educate visitors on the components of the
Trinity River Corridor Project that are open, soon toopen and planned for the future.

year's Architecture at Risk list. If there is a
particular piece of iconic or historic architecture
in Oak Cliff that you feel is at at risk of extinction
due to neglect, demolition or aggressive
developers... WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

City of Dallas seeks artists for $50,000
Oak Cliff Mural project

The city's graffiti-abatement team has done some cover-up painting ata gateway to Oak Cliff. Now the city wants to pay an artist(s) to getcreative with the space.
The Office of Cultural Affairs has $50,000 to spend on a public artmural(s) along concrete retaining walls for the Jefferson Boulevardbridge. The work "should celebrate themes that relate to thecommunity of Oak Cliff, taking inspiration from the people, history,landmarks, and overall creative spirit of this vibrant Dallasneighborhood." This from the city's call for artist submissions, which
continues:
"Recognizing the creative community of Oak Cliff, the city isparticularly interested in artists/artists teams who have a connection tothe Oak Cliff community. Deadline to apply is 5 p.m. April 20. Andcontact Kendall Ferguson, the city's public art coordinator, [email protected] and/or 214-670-5639.
