General Registration Information/Guidelines

1. County-wide Professional Development Publications are emailed three times

throughout the year – first semester/year-long, second semester and summer.

2. Participants need to register for the Professional Development opportunities

and workshops prior to the beginning date of the workshop. The registration

form serves as the individual participant prior approval form. Credit for

workshop attendance cannot be given if a registration form is not submitted.

3. Use the registration form that is located on the professional development

page.

4. Include your name, school name, school email address and the full name of

the workshop.

5. Three Avenues for submitting a registration form:

➢ School Courier *preferred method is email,

➢ If an alternative registration format is required, it will be listed with

the PD information.

6. If a principal’s signature is required, the participant will need to either fax,

send their registration form through the courier or have the administrator

email the registration form.

7. Registrations need to be received Five working days prior to the beginning

of the professional development opportunity unless otherwise stated within

the activity description.

8. You only need to register once for a specific workshop even if there are

multiple meeting dates for that workshop. This is also true for year-long PD

opportunities.

9. When selecting a Professional Development opportunity, please pay close

attention to the Target Audience and Activity Description. This information

will assist the participant in deciding which opportunities are appropriate.

10. Complete the online survey once your course has concluded. The link to the

January 18, 2019 – February 10, 2019 (registration open) 40-hour, On-Line Modules, Portfolios, and Assessments to be completed within 90 days of activation of course.

Prior Approval from Kerri Yancey is required to register for this course. EC Staff that may be considered for approval for this course are: Members of Behavior Support Team, Case by Case Situations/High Needs within the district which may include General Separate Teachers and EC TAs working with students with significant’ behavioral needs.

Applied Behavior Analysis Course. Learning objectives include: Discrete Trials, Behavior Management Assessment and Interventions, Skill Acquisition, Behavior Reduction, Documentation and Reporting, and Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice and more. These objectives are designed to increase skill capacity of staff members while working with students with Autism and severe behavioral needs. This course must be completed within 90 days of activation. If you do not complete the course within the time frame you will be required to reimburse OCS EC Dept. for the cost of the course.

They will gain a deeper understanding of the North Carolina K-5 Math Instructional Frameworks and develop a deeper understanding of the OCS K-5 Math Priority Standards in order to utilize them more effectively in the classroom. Opportunities for working collaboratively to develop conceptual units of study will allow for increased content knowledge and further understanding of their grade level standards. Resources, best practices and high-yield instructional strategies will be explored at each meeting. Please bring your Priority Standards 2.0 document and Ready Teacher's Guides.
