General Registration Information/Guidelines
1. County-wide Professional Development Publications are emailed three times
throughout the year – first semester/year-long, second semester and summer.
2. Participants need to register for the Professional Development opportunities
and workshops prior to the beginning date of the workshop. The registration
form serves as the individual participant prior approval form. Credit for
workshop attendance cannot be given if a registration form is not submitted.
3. Use the registration form that is located on the professional development
page.
4. Include your name, school name, school email address and the full name of
the workshop.
5. Three Avenues for submitting a registration form:

➢ School Courier *preferred method is email,
➢ If an alternative registration format is required, it will be listed with
the PD information.
6. If a principal’s signature is required, the participant will need to either fax,
send their registration form through the courier or have the administrator
email the registration form.
7. Registrations need to be received Five working days prior to the beginning
of the professional development opportunity unless otherwise stated within
the activity description.
8. You only need to register once for a specific workshop even if there are
multiple meeting dates for that workshop. This is also true for year-long PD
opportunities.
9. When selecting a Professional Development opportunity, please pay close
attention to the Target Audience and Activity Description. This information
will assist the participant in deciding which opportunities are appropriate.

Fluency: It’s Not Just About Pace!

ONLINE (via Blackboard) Participants will explore what fluency is and how it impacts reading proficiency. They will learn the true definition of fluency and the criteria that defines a fluent reader, the developmental stages of a fluent reader, and how to develop and foster fluency in reading. Participants will also learn different ways that fluency can be assessed and methods that can be used for teaching for fluency and practicing fluency. Participants will have the opportunity to observe videos and explore websites with lesson ides that they can use in their own classroom.
