…but why
ONLINE testing?
80% of major companies + almost all colleges & job skill centers, and many, many smaller organizations
require online testing to get a job
or advance within an organization
Ohio’s New Learning Standards
include “Next Generation” Assessments
Tests designed to prepare students for skills needed for
learning and good jobs
Each teacher should know:
- Which tests (e.g. 5th grade ELA, Math, Science)
- When (day and hour, not just ‘testing window’)
- Skills (e.g. protractor, copy text)
- Scoring (scoring rubric. test specifications)
- How will data will be used - for example: Student growth measures (teacher /district)
Promotion (e.g. 3rd grade)Graduation requirement

ACCOMMODATIONSfor students with special needs:
Does your online assessment support: Extended Time? Text-to-speech (headphones)? Test Readers? Other supports?
The student’s plan take precedence over typical testing protocols, BUT accommodations usually can NOT apply to just ONE specific test.
For example, if a student’s plan allows more time to complete ONLINE testing then more time must also be allowed for for ALL testing.
The Goal:
Preparing Students
for Learning, Career
and Life Skills
