• Social Media Hacks
– Keyloggers
• Malware (Viruses/Trojan horses)
• Spam
• Malicious Websites

Tips for staying safe
• Use passwords
– At least 8 characters (alphabets + numbers + symbols)
• Passphrases are REALLY helpful
• Change password every 90 days
– Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts
• DON’T open emails you are not sure of
– Always type links into a web browser to open it
– Beware of downloading attachments from unknown
email senders

Tips for staying safe (Cont’)
• Update your accounts’ privacy settings
• Use public Wi-Fi with caution
– Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use
• Use two-Factor Authentication
• Take note of permissions granted to mobile apps you’ve downloaded/about to download
• Disable location finder (if necessary)
• Update software (eg. OS & Antivirus)
• Firewalls
