ONLINE GIVING – WeShare It’s safe. It’s simple. It’s
convenient. Please prayerfully consider giving to our parish family online as it does
benefit our parish in many important ways. The practice of Christian stewardship in doing online giving provides the opportunity for planned giving in what we offer back to God. It benefits our parish by helping to streamline our administrative process and at the same time provides more accurate budgeting. Anyone who would like to join online giving can use the link provided on our website.

STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE
November 12, 2017—32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time—“Therefore,
stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” -
Matthew 25:13 Many of us have put off doing something
because we think we are too busy. We’ve all said, “I’ll do it
later when I have time.” Unfortunately, too many of us apply
this attitude to our faith. Jesus’ call is urgent, in the here and
now, in your current circumstances. Don’t delay, how is God
calling you to use your gifts today?

2017 BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
Weekend of Nov. 18-19, 2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal—
In Giving, We Receive This time of year, as our nation
plans to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us reflect on how we
use all of the gifts given to us by a loving god. Consider
showing your thanks far all your blessings by making a gift
to the 2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal. As we are reminded in
this year’s Appeal theme– In giving, We Receive– your
participating not only impacts the lives of tens of thousands
of people in need, but it benefits you as well. Please make
a pledge today! For your convenience, you can make an
online gift or pledge at www.2017appeal.org. Please help
make 2017 the year that our Bishop’s Annual Appeal does
even more for people in profound need.
A HUGE THANK YOU! Thank you to everyone who participated in Yoga For
Hope Builders Fundraiser. We raised $510.00 which will
go toward deferring the cost of the trip for the volunteers.
We had a total of 19 participants; some were only able
to make one class but many came out for the full four
classes of either the beginner or intermediate sessions. I
want to personally thank those who came and tried
something they never did before; you are courageous!
and also to those who took this opportunity to bring
Yoga back into their lives. Thank you again for
supporting Hope Builders and St. Matthews. Namaste.

Stay awake for you know neither the day nor the hour (MT 25:13)
Yesterday I received a phone call informing me that a long-time friend had passed away. It was sudden. He felt short of breath and asked his wife to go with him to the doctor. When they arrived, he took a seat in the waiting area and suffered a massive heart attack where he sat, and died.
I knew him to be a faithfilled and good man, and as far as it is possible to know the state of another's soul, I am confident he was ready to meet his Lord. But …
I cannot help but think of this Sunday's Gospel "Those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked" What of those who are not ready? What can they do?
"Do not delay your return to the Lord, do not put it off day after day" (Sirach 5:8)
St. Augustine is quoted as having said "God promises forgiveness to repentance - not tomorrow to procrastination".
Thru the Pastor’s Desk—By Deacon Rich Brady
FOOD PANTRY THANKS YOU Thank you to all of the parishioners who recent-ly donated food to our food pantry. Because of your generosity, we were able to deliver 100 bags of food to Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris-town. Thank you for being so generous.
THE FOOD PANTRY NEEDS YOU As we do every year, we are concentrating our efforts on collecting rice, corn and beans for Thanksgiving, which is only 5 weeks away. We are looking for 2 lb. bags of rice, cans of corn and cans of black or red beans. Thank you so
much for all of your support and may God bless you for helping our neighbors in need.

“PRAYING IN COLOR”
Saturday, November 18, 2017, 8 AM
Many of us say we will pray for others, but do we?
Come join us on Sat., Nov. 18th at 8 AM in Heritage Hall to create a personal visual intercessory prayer Advent calendar as a meditation tool in your spiritual life. Incorporating drawing, contemplation and coloring can be used as new techniques to pray for others. Bring your coloring supplies and discover the pleasure, calm and creativity of returning to this childhood activity.

Join us for a time of community, reflection, discussion and fun. No advanced preparation or homework is necessary. Just time with other women.

THANKSGIVING DAY MASS
This year the our Mass of Thanksgiving will be on
Thanksgiving morning at 8:00 AM. Daily Masses for the week
of November 19th will remain the same. Monday thru
Thursday (Thursday being Thanksgiving Day) 8:00AM. There
is no Mass on Friday.
TRINITY LUTHERAN KITCHEN
THANKSGIVING MORNING Turkey and Pies…
our tradition continues!!!
Each year we provide cooked turkeys, pies and apple juice to
Trinity Church in Dover to feed the homeless.
By State Law all cooked food must come from a state certified
kitchen. So this year we will be asking for Shoppers Club
cards to buy the food needed and all will be cooked and
prepared in the St. Matthew’s kitchen. We will still need
helpers Thanksgiving morning to cut the birds, and will be
accepting store bought pies (They need to come from certified
kitchen also) and apple juice to be delivered to Trinity on
Thanksgiving morning. Sign-up sheets are in the Gathering
Space. We will be accepting donations of pies and juice
Thanksgiving morning from 9:30- 10:30AM or leave it off in
the kitchen marked for Trinity Church. Buy your shoppers
club certificate and place it in the box on the table on the
left as you leave
Thank you for your generosity and support of this much
needed effort!! See or call Deacon Ed with any questions.
MATTHEW’S MEN IN NOVEMBER: Giving Thanks
How often do we hear the following words in the Preface to one of the Eucharistic Prayers at Mass? "It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God." Given our makeup and our culture, it can be a challenge for men to rely on the help of others -- to have to stop and say "Thanks." Not just in a perfunctory way, but with deep reserves of love and appreciation. In this season of Thanksgiving, this month's Matthew's Men breakfast will stop to share how we live those words we hear at Mass. Not only what we are thankful for -- our abundant blessings -- but how, and how often, we stop in prayer to give those thanks. We invite all of the men of St. Matthew's to join us on November 18, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM in Bauer Hall. And . . . thanks!
FOR THE BEAUTY OF THE
EARTH Don’t be surprised to see significant changes to our church grounds
in the coming weeks. Through the generosity of private donors, we will be restoring the beautification of the church grounds of St. Matthews. It has been almost 30 years since St. Matthew’s has had new plantings. I hope that you can appreciate that just like your own home, our spiritual home needs to be enhanced as the place where we come to make our heartfelt prayer to Him, who has given us all that we have, all that we need. This fall we will begin with beautifying the exterior grounds outside the courtyard area. In the spring once the planting season begins, we will continue the beautification process in the church courtyard. As time takes its toll on all things and this is true for the pavers that make St. Matthew’s the welcome place it is, our plan is to repair and renovate the paver walkways, courtyard and our prayer garden. Again, a special thank you to our generous donors. We look forward to preserving the beauty and integrity of our church grounds moving forward as one family.
INTERFAITH FURNISHINGS NEEDS YOUR TIME AND TREASURE
We’ve been furnishing homes for Morris County neighbors in need12 years (1,362 and counting) and recycling for the community. Now we are turning to you — the residents we serve. November is the only time of the year when we ask for any financial support for expenses for our truck rentals, gas, insurance, volunteer lunches, and supplies. Treasure? Our only regular income is from those who donate furniture and make a voluntary donation for pickups. We also get a once a year donation from participating faith communities. Time? We want your involvement — once every three months — for half a day. That’s it. Our wonderful volunteers have aged during 12 years of operation. So we are looking for younger workers: teenagers and their dads, thirty somethings, and people who are looking for exercise while they are serving others. Please consider these two requests, and the value of our mission: To donate time, money or furniture to Morris County neighbors in need. Help us assist those around us. The necessary steps to donate: 1. Go to http://www.interfaithfurnishings.org on your computer 2. Click on the big yellow donate button or send your donation to Mary Jo Welch, Interfaith Furnishings 106 Shongum Road
Randolph, NJ 07869
Giving Tree 2017 St. Matthew’s is once again sponsoring a Giving Tree for the
2017 Christmas season. The goal is to help local charities
provide a brighter Christmas for our neighbors who are
struggling. Please return the gifts with the tag attached,
unwrapped and place under the tree.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to live their
faith by sharing with others during this Christmas season!
This year we are supporting the following charities:
Dover Child Care Center – children’s coats, hats and
gloves
J.T.’s Kitchen- Shop-Rite gift cards as well as blankets,
sweaters, coats, sweatshirts, etc.
Hope House, Catholic Charities – We have adopted thirty
families this year. We will also be collecting hats
gloves and scarves for veterans and providing gift
cards as well.
Holy Trinity Parish – Shop-Rite gift cards and warm
clothing items for adults and children.
“Hope Builders” (Kentucky) - Lowe’s gift cards to be used
when our teens visit next summer.
“Hermits of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel” of Chester, NJ-
Shop –Rite gift cards and checks made out to
“Hermits of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel”.
Please take a tag or two off the tree and purchase the item
requested. Because the tree has been so full of tags in
recent years, we will be providing a basket next to the tree
where all the gift card tags will be placed.
Please return the items with the tag securely attached
and place under the tree
by Sunday, December 10th.
All gifts should be placed under the tree unwrapped in a
shopping bag, with the tag attached. NO WRAPPING
PAPER OR TISSUE IS NEEDED. Please return any gift
cards to the marked basket with the tag attached.
In lieu of a purchased gift or gift card, monetary donations
can be made to St. Matthew’s to cover the cost of items not
purchased. Please also consider purchasing the Shop Rite
gift cards through our own Shopper’s Club after all the
masses. St. Matt’s will realize a 5% profit on each card
purchased at no additional cost to you.
Please watch the bulletin and your e-mails for volunteer
opportunities to help set up the tree and to sort the gifts.
Lastly, thank you profusely for your continued generosity in
support of the Giving Tree Program.
Please contact Kathe Naddaff at [email protected] or
Liz Ritter at [email protected] with any questions.
