ONLINE FUNDRAISING FOR SMALL CHARITIES

description

A 1.25 hour session presented at the 2009 LGBT Giving Conference in Toronto, Ontario. In the spring of 2008, the Ten Oaks Project launched an online component to augment its annual giving campaign. Targeted specifically to individuals on its eNewsletter mailing list, the Ten Oaks Project wanted to be able to encourage a small first gift from the people who had been following their work, but who had never personally invested in sending kids to Camp Ten Oaks. Through the “Change from $10” campaign, the organization raised an incredible $2,300 in under two weeks for an entirely volunteer-driven, small not-for-profit. Learn how we did it, what tools we used, highlights and lowlights of this first attempt at fundraising online. This session will also incorporate best practices in online fundraising, as well as include examples from other not-for-profits on great ways to easily integrate social media like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to raise funds for the time and resource strapped small charity.

Ten Oaks Project

Please distribute far and wide.

This summer, make the difference in the life of kids from LGBTQ families and LGBTQ youth when you help to send them to Camp Ten Oaks. We need 300 people to donate $10 each to send 5 kids to camp. At Camp Ten Oaks, kids spend the week focused on being kids. Camp is also a place where our campers can meet and identify with others who share their experiences. It's a place where they begin to build a community of their own. To ensure that all kids can have a camp experience, Camp Ten Oaks is offered on a pay-what-you-can fee. While it costs $600 for a camper to attend our one-week program, the majority of our parents or guardians are able to afford $75 - $150 per child. It is for this reason that we ask for your support to help make camp accessible to all. Your donation is an investment - in our kids, our families and our community. Create life impacting change with $10 today. Help us connect children and youth from LGBTQ families and LGBTQ youth and give them a summer experience they'll never forget. Donate Now!!!

About Ten Oaks Project

The Ten Oaks Project is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. Our mission is to engage and connect children and youth from LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, queer) communities through programs and activities rooted in play. We currently offer one program: Camp Ten Oaks.

If you haven't yet encouraged others to give, please take this final chance. Forward this email on to your friends, family, colleagues and contacts. Post it on facebook. Post it on your blog. Tell people why Camp Ten Oaks matters and invite them to make a difference. Change from $10. Help us send 5 kids to Camp Ten Oaks this summer.
