Downtown Indianapolis

Welcome to the 2007 AIDS Walk & Ride! On behalf of the AIDS Walk & Ride Steering Committee, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the time and energy you have spent developing teams, raising much needed funds and increasing awareness of HIV/AIDS. Without your involvement and commitment, this event would not be possible! We would also like to acknowledge the support of our sponsors, including our Presenting Sponsor, the Marion County Health Department. All sponsor funding provides additional dollars to those with HIV/AIDS via the Greg Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) program by providing assistance with rent, utilities, medication, groceries and more. And finally, we want to thank our enthusiastic volunteers. As you look around today and see the over 150 folks wearing a gold shirt, please thank them for their time and energy because without them, we would not be able to facilitate the event today. Thanks to everyone for a job well done! Stefanie Koning Reverend Judith Carson Co-Chair Co-Chair

The Indiana AIDS Fund Mission The Indiana AIDS Fund is a private philanthropic fund raising and grant making organization dedicated to supporting HIV prevention and services programs throughout Indiana.

The Indiana AIDS Fund was founded in 1994 and is co-convened by The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis and the Indiana State Department of Health. As a partner of the National AIDS Fund, we have the opportunity for local contributions to be matched by the National AIDS Fund and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The programs that have received funding from the Indiana AIDS Fund are diverse, innovative and reflective of HIV/AIDS in Indiana and include prevention programs, direct care services and advocacy.

The money raised today goes directly the Greg Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) program, which is used for HIV/AIDS patients in Indiana who need assistance with rent, groceries, medication, utilities and other needs.

The Gregory Powers DEFA Fund Established in 2002, the Gregory Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance Fund (DEFA) provides grants to care coordination sights across Indiana. These grants support a wide scope of services including medical needs, housing issues, access to service and day-to-day living expenses for persons living with HIV/AIDS. Through efforts of Greg’s, Indiana STILL Cares, and the Indiana AIDS Walk & Ride, the Indiana AIDS Fund was able to provide $133,900 in grants to 16 Indiana community organizations. Thank you to those who have contributed to this vital program which assists HIV/AIDS clients with basic or emergency financial needs. 2007 Gregory Powers DEFA Fund Grantees • AIDS Ministries/AIDS Assist, South Bend • AIDS Resource Group, Evansville • AIDS Task Force, Fort Wayne • AIDS Task Force, Merrillville • Cummins Behavioral Health, Terre Haute • Bloomington Hospital/Positive Link, Bloomington • The Center for Mental Health, Elwood • The Center for Mental Health, Richmond • The Center for Mental Health, Lafayette • Concord Center Association, Indianapolis • The Damien Center, Indianapolis • Ebenezer Church Foundation, Indianapolis • Hoosier Hills AIDS Coalition, Jeffersonville • LifeCare/Clarian, Indianapolis • Meridian Services, Muncie • Wishard Health Services, Indianapolis
