I am a member of the NEOhio Region SCCA and I wonder if you could post a note for me in your newsletter. I am writing a book on the Put-in-Bay road races held in Ohio between 1952 and 1963. I am trying find car enthusiast who knows the Bay races, or for that matter anyone else who has any stories about them. Thanks in advance for your help. Carl Goodwin Mem. As many of you know, I have been working for a local car dealer-ship for about the past six years now. In that time I have come across quite a few sit-
uations that peeve me; here are a few of them.
Leaving your firearm in your car, where I am bound to discover it!
If you are going to carry a weapon, go for it! I am completely for our second amendment rights. On the other hand, I do not want to stumble across your weapon. If you leave it in the car, why carry it at all? People that shove a gun in their glove box especially frustrate me. True story, while going through a glove box on a c6 Corvette to find the oil capacity we had a .45caliber semi-auto pistol fall from the glove box onto the floor of the car, it was loaded with one in the camber and the safety off.
Lug nut keys and owners that don’t tell you where they are!
Hey, I don’t like rooting through your car anymore then you like me rooting through your car. If you have lug nuts that require a key to take them off, please have it out and ready. It makes it easier for us to get your car done faster and incase your guilty of #1 then this also prevents me from opening that glove box where you stash your weapon.
Keep your drugs to yourself!
You think I am kidding here right? You hope I am kidding! Well I am not. If you smoke weed or do any other kind of drugs, don’t stash them in the car! Not only are you completely stupid for doing drugs but keeping them in the car will only put you in a situa-tion where you are bound to be caught with them during a traffic stop. It is just a dumb idea all togeth-er.
Checking your car after you just hit an animal.
I don’t have an issue with this, I really don’t! It is just a matter of what animal you hit. Say you hit a deer, not all too uncommon, but at least get it washed first! It is really hard for me to check over your car while half of bambi’s hide is still attached. If you hit a skunk and want me to check it over before you got the Mike’s super deluxe underbody wash, GOOD LUCK! You are now officially the person I hate most in the world. On the other hand, if you hit a bird and it sticks in your grille, leave it! By the time I have dealt with numbers 1-3 and parts of number 4, I will need a good laugh and there little hollow legs stick-ing out of the grille get me every time!
Bringing vehicle brand X into a vehicle brand Y deal-ership for service!
We really don’t want to work on your 1982 Mer-cedes Benz at my dealership. Not even for an oil change. It is just aggravating for everyone! We have to order your filter because we don’t stock them; you get mad because it is taking longer then Joe Schmoo who brought his 2006 Cobalt to the right dealership. Same goes for your brand new 2013 Dodge! I am not sure if it is a Garmin that isn’t up to date or what but if you come to MY dealership then you have just passed or are very close to the correct dealership for your vehicle. Save yourself a possible headache, just take it to the right place! My favorite one is the lady who brought her Rx8 into my dealer-ship. 99% of our technicians have NEVER seen a ro-tary engine in person! We don’t have the repair manuals for it or the scanners for it. That car got sent to Mazda on a sublet.
That’s all I have for you this month. Thanks for read-ing! Now our drift editor won’t beat me like the last time he did when I didn’t turn an article in. Please feel free to contribute to our newsletter, we love hearing what you all are up to!

Dedication. Passion. An Art.
The alarm goes off at 5:00am and I feel like I just went to bed four hours ago, that might
be that I just did. Why you might ask I am getting my Saturday morning started so ear-
ly… well, for over a couple years now I have car pooled with one of the fastest rallycross
drivers I know. He is all about pushing it to the limit and keeping it low budget and
affordable - but fun. Usually I get a free lunch out of the deal because I will capture
about 8 gigs of photos/videos from the day of his car. Plus I get to express my passion
for capturing other people’s time in life and upload it for them to keep - that is truly a lot of fun.
Rallycross is a beautiful art form of car racing with the mix of dust and mud. It is probably one of my most favorite
forms of racing I enjoying capturing. Catching the swirl of dirt rolling behind a brumbling turbo 4 cylinder just
makes it all worth the early wake and three hour trip to Columbus. Brian Ballinger has been rallying for some time
as a Fort Wayne member and the majority of the time rides solo to these events, primarily because of the lack of
venue we have near by to have events at. That three hour trip for the taste of dirt and 1st place podium is a true
sign of dedication for this motorsport, the passion to pushing ones self harder, and preforming some of the cool-
est pieces of art in motorsports. Check out some of the photos below from the day and find Brian on facebook to
do a car pool to the next event… you will not be DISAPPOINTED!!!
