THIRD SUNDAY OF
ADVENT DECEMBER 12, 2021
FirstReading:Zephaniah3:1418a
Zephaniah urges the people of Jerusalem to rejoice because the Lord is in their midst. He conveys the message that God will love and
protect those who have remained faithful to him.
Second Reading: Philippians 4:4-7 Paul encourages the Philippians to be ready for Christ. He tells them not to worry about their concerns, but to instead ask God's help and allow his peace to fill their hearts and minds.
Gospel: Luke 3:10-18 John the Baptist answers people who ask him what they should do, leading some to believe he was the Messiah. John clearly states that he will be followed by one so powerful that "I am not fit to loosen his sandal strap."

PARISH ADULT ALTAR MINISTRY
At this time, we are inviting all of our adult women and men to join our Adult Altar Ministry which is exercised at all of our parish funeral masses and special
services. Don’t worry, after some brief training, you will be all set to go. If interested, please contact Bob Reers at 735-6194.
GAUDETE (REJOICE) SUNDAY Today is Gaudete Sunday, the Sunday during Advent when we light the rose-colored candle and when the celebrants wear rose vestments and we’re meant to rejoice! Gaudete Sunday is a joyous celebration even though it takes place during the usually penitential period of Advent. Gaudete Sunday serves as a mid-point break from the otherwise austere practices of the season. The Epistle for the day incites us to rejoicing, and bids us prepare to meet the coming Savior with prayers and supplication and thanksgiving. The Gospel, in the words of St. John the Baptist, warns that the Lamb of God is even now in our midst, though we appear to know Him not. The spirit of our Sunday liturgy is, therefore, one of joyful expectation and preparation for the Christmas feast as well as for the second coming of Christ.
“Make straight the way of the Lord.”

GIFT TO SAINT AEDAN Your Christmas Gift to Saint
Aedan is a very important part of our annual income. Please allow your gift to truly reflect your love of God and of our beautiful parish. Your Christmas Gift envelope may be placed in the collection basket on any Sunday between now and the end of the Christmas season. Please know that, during these trying times, we are especially grateful for your financial sacrifices on behalf of our parish. May God bless you and your loved ones with a happy and holy Christmas
PARISH INCREASED GIVING BEYOND SUNDAY MORNING
Last campaign was back in 2015 It has been six years since I last approached you, our Saint Aedan parishioners, about increasing your weekly offering. I think you would agree that, during past these six years, the cost of everything has gone up and continues to go up during these worrisome inflationary times. Electronic Giving through WE SHARE is also an option for new or present members. If you would like us to put you on the parish envelope mailing list, please let us know (845-735-7405). Instructions may also be found in our web site <www.StAedan.org> You may obtain a BEYOND SUNDAY MORNING envelope in the vestibule of the church. May I thank you in advance for your traditional financial sacrifices on behalf of our beautiful parish of Saint Aedan. God bless you. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
SUNDAY MASS ATTENDANCE INCREASING
Catholics worshipping the Lord in the Lord’s House on the Lord’s Day”
Here at Saint Aedan, we are encouraged to see that our Sunday Mass attendance has been gradually moving upwards over the past few weeks. This past Sunday’s attendance was 895. We’re hoping and praying that this upward trend continues and that we see even more individuals as well as our families and their children return to regular Mass attendance. We would love to break the 1000 mark by Christmas. “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you Psalm 62:1-2) Truly my soul finds rest in God, my salvation comes from Him. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Treasures of the Church – Exposition of
Sacred Relics: SACRED HEART CHURCH 129 LAFAYETTE AVENUE
SUFFERN, N.Y. DECEMBER 16TH, 2021 at 7 pm
Sacred Heart Parish presents a teaching and exposition of Sacred Relics on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 7pm. Father Carlos Martin, a Vatican-appointed expert on relics will be here with an extraordinary Vatican collection of over 150 relics, some as old as 2,000 years. Among the treasures will be relics of St. Joseph, St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. There will also be a portion of the Veil of Our Lady and one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world. Those in attendance will be able to examine and venerate each relic. Throughout history, many healings have been worked in the presence of relics; and thousands have occurred through this ministry. Do not miss this opportunity. You are encouraged to bring your articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members, which you will be able to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Please spread the word
