One Thumpin Kitty by Tommy Roeck

This pistol packing mamma was born in Chicago, and isnt a stranger to the rock

n roll scene. She started at the age of 18 as the lead singer of her own project called

Entrapment which performed at the Arkansas State Fair in 1987. After learning

bass guitar, she decided to pull a Suzi Quatro and front and play bass in a band

called XTCX in Little Rock with Matt Shook & John Hardeman. At age 19 she

decided to hit the road and reach for her dreams of bright lights and Hollywood

stardom.Spending her time in Hollywood was a real eye-opener for the Little Rock high

school graduate. She spent lots of time practicing her bass, and taking lessons, to

bring herself up to speed with the vast ocean of endless long haired bands and their

own aspirations at stardom. It all started with a bonefied rock star wedding that

only lasted a year to a drummer named Kevin Radomsky in a signed glam rock

band called, Lickity Split. who incidentally gave out free tongue rubbers at their

shows. That turned out to be a crash and burn event. Kristi was finally ready to get

that all girl band together and hit the stage.

She played in numerous all girl bands, Deva, Love child, Dizzy Cheetah,

Pink Passion, and Sun Goddess to name a few, while attending Trebas Instituteof recording arts where she graduated with a Degree in Music Business

Administration. She was able to play on the infamous Sunset Strip and attend some

great parties, along with waitress gig at legendary Gazzarris on the strip!!

Kristi was Quoted as saying; I bumped into lots of famous musicians including

Axel Rose one night at the Rainbow with about 10 girls on each arm in 1992. It was

a trip alright. Vince Neil drunk out of his mind walking down stairs at the Rainbow

and of Course Lemmy Kilmister always at the Rainbow upstairs at the VIP lounge,

still there today probably, he lives above the place. Limo Rides and always some

crazy exploits, it was Rock n Roll alright, late night gatherings to the Rock n Roll

Dennys it was called on Sunset, still there today. Even did some extra work on some

movies for a short time and appeared in a couple of scenes in the film Waynes

    World.

Getting burnt out on the music scene in Los Angeles, Kristi moved back to Little

Rock bringing a band member (Chris Propper-The Who Tribute Project) from LA

with her and played in their original band called, Wormhole. The band played in

the Little Rock scene for about a year along with Lee Wood Thomas, a drummer

friend, and Little Rock native. They made a nice little splash in the Natural State

pond, putting together, the Festival of Fears and worked with the Free Press on

    several Vinos shows and more.

Kolberg returned to LA after some time in Arkansas, only to reinvent herself

again. But this time she left her old band member, Chris Propper to pursue his own

project, and for her to continue the dream the all-female group once again. With

much trial and error, she made her final move back to the Rock in 1997 and began

performing in cover bands, which was a first for the mostly all original song stress.

Playing in numerous cover bands in late 90s in Arkansas, Kristi became

interested the blues and started her own band called, Eclectic Sunshine and

placed 2nd in the Arkansas River Blues Society contest that year. Playing the blues

was fun and definitely a great experience for her, listening to bands and artists she

never heard before helped define her musical soul! Then she played in Back Alley

Sally with Fred Dugas, Local Rain man, Twisted Halo, Wet Lucy with Brad

Scarda, Classified with Tina Miller, and various blues projects and her own

acoustic project called, Acoustic Sun a guitar duo she did around town for a short

time. She was voted - best female bassist at the Fox & Hound Sunday night jam

session after religiously attending the event in 2002

    .

Then she took a musical hiatus in 2003 when she remarried and had a baby girl

named, Alexis. The only performing she did during that time was to play at a few

local churches, and that was good experience for her. She even did a Christian rock

show and called the band Elevate at the opening of a Shell gas station in East End,

AR in 2006 and had a blast!

Now its 2011 and Kristis been ready to hit it one more time! With a strong

vision, she started a band called, LIQUID KITTY in the Summer of 2010. The

lineup went through a lot of changes in that year, but they are confidently ready to

rock once again until the wheels fall off. They played the Bike Rally at the I-30

Speedway and Spectators in NLR and are ready for the new year. The lineup

includes Lisa Carlton on Lead vocals /keyboards, Lee Wood Thomas on drums,

Wayne Willems on lead guitar /vocals/ guitar keyboards, and Fred Dugas on lead

guitar /vocals/ turntable scratcher, and of course miss Kolberg, Thumpgirl on the

Fender and Daisy rock basses. With this lineup there is no stopping these sexy cats.

They play anything from the 70s, 80s, 90s and current. The skys the limit this

year for The Liquid Kitty Band.

Kristi plays through a 350 watt Hartke amplifier, and this ex Hollwierd refugee

can really make em talk and thump of course. You can Catch the group at Luckys

bar in Hot springs on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The kitty contest winners will be

announced at this show. For further details go to Face book on the Liquid Kitty
