The employee’s arm was very badly bruised and he will be off work for a number of weeks. Action: When risk assessing, or using plant and equipment consider the risk posed which may include one or more of the following: • Entrapment – where parts of the body could be caught in parts of equipment. • Impact – where the body could be crushed by moving parts or by items being processed. • Contact – where the body could touch sharp edges, hot surfaces or abrasive surfaces. • Entanglement – where hair, clothing or jewellery could get caught in parts of a machine. • Ejection – where parts of equipment or materials being worked on could fly off and hit the body If you have any health and safety issues that you wish to discuss contact your supervisor, line manager or Safety Advisor. Remember there must be NO COMPROMISE where health and safety is concerned.

Safety Alert – Work Equipment

One of our employees recently received injuries when his

clothing became entangled in the moving parts of a

paddle mixer.

The employee’s arm was very badly bruised and he will

be off work for a number of weeks.

Action: When risk assessing, or using plant and

equipment consider the risk posed which may include one

or more of the following:

in parts of equipment.
