How to Participate in the Rally One Month March
What is the event for?
The Rally One Month March is an event to raise awareness and funds for
childhood cancer research. Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of children ages 0-19, and with as little as a mile a day, we can take a major step in defeating it.
Why is the Rally One Month March in September?
Much like other diseases have a recognized fund-raising month, September is
designated as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. For that reason, the Rally One Month March encourages people to get out and run/walk as much as they can during the month to support the cause, remember the fighters and
celebrate the life of the survivors.
How do I participate in the One Month March?
Getting involved is simple.
1. Register on Active for the Rally One Month March.
2. Register on DailyMile - Rally One Month March, and sign-up for free for
the event. Keep track of the miles you run/walk during the month of September on this website.
3. Find donors to contribute a donation of their choice per mile that you run/walk during the Rally One Month March by e-mailing out to friends/family and/or creating an Active fundraising page.
4. After the completion of your running/walking in September, add up your miles from DailyMile, and make sure to bring in any donations
that have not been credited to you yet to the 5K on October 9.
Rally One Month March: September 1—30, 2011
Rally One Month March 5K: October 9, 2011
How much is registration?
If you plan to participate in the Rally One Month March 5K only, the registration fee
is $30. To participate in both the Rally One Month March during the month of September and the Rally One Month March 5K, the registration fee is $15. However, as a part of the Rally One Month March, you must commit to raising at
least an additional $15 during that month.
On race day, if you have registered for the Rally One Month March, you must bring
your DailyMile mileage print out and the additional funds you have raised during the month of September (a minimum of $15) to the 5K.
What is DailyMile?
DailyMile is a free site which allows runners/walkers to track their miles.
Through the site, users are able to log their mileage, map their route, encourage and motivate each other, and compete with friends!
As you track your mileage, you will be able to share your progress with your donors. It will be a tool to keep you accountable to your personal goals, your
donors and the cause.
How do you Sign-Up for DailyMile?
1. Create a free profile on DailyMile.
2. Once you are signed up, click on the “Community” tab at the top.
3. Under the “Community” tab, click events.
4. Search for Rally One Month March, and the event should appear.
5. Click “Add to schedule,” and join the event.
6. You’re ready to start tracking your miles!
How to Fundraise?
Commit to running/walking 30+ miles throughout the month of September.
Find people to donate to you per mile run/walked (i.e.- $.50 or a $1.00 per mile) or that will give you a general donation for your overall mileage. At the
end of the month, reach out to all of your donors and inform them of your mileage. Make sure to set a deadline for donations to be about a week before
the event so that you can make sure you have everything in order before the 5K on October 9, 2011.
