Moving Forward in Faith Capital Campaign Volume XIV Sunday December 27, 2020
PLEDGE TOTAL MOVES UP TO $1.2 MILLION
We are once again excited to report that our Moving Forward in Faith Capital Campaign continues to be
well received. Earlier this week, the campaign office reported that pledges have reached $1,200,000. This has
been generated through the sacrificial generosity of approximately 155 parish households as well as support from
our concert series and community friends. Father Chris cannot stress enough his appreciation to all of our
parishioners and friends in the community who have moved us so far so fast. He is most grateful to all of our
donors for their commitment and sacrifice to St. Bernard at this important time in the history of our parish.
To those who have not had a chance to give, please consider supporting our parish effort! Every
contribution, from the smallest to the largest, is necessary since we are doing this together as a parish family.
For the convenience of anyone who may need a pledge form there are extra campaign brochures and confidential
pledge forms in church on the table at the parking lot exit. When considering your support please remember that
the will of God will never take you where the grace of God cannot keep you, where the arms of God cannot
support you, where the riches of God cannot meet your needs, where the power of God cannot endow you.
PLEDGE PAYMENT PROCESS
As the parish phase of our campaign starts to wind down we are starting the pledge redemption process
on January 1st. For the convenience of those who have a campaign pledge balance and have indicated they wish
to pay on their pledge monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually, you will receive a “starter packet” of gold
pledge redemption envelopes in the mail. Please use this envelope when paying on your pledge since it will help
distinguish your campaign pledge payment from the regular offertory envelopes. Additional gold envelopes are
available in church and through the parish office. If at any time anyone needs additional gold pledge payment
envelopes, please contact the office and we will provide them for you.
“None of the funds brought to the temple of the Lord were used there to make silver
cups, snuffers, basins, trumpets, or any gold or silver article. Instead, they were given to the
workmen, and with them they repaired the Temple of the Lord.”

THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH December 27, 2020
PASTOR’S NOTESt. Bernard Mailbox MinistryA special thank-you goes out everyone that took the time out to write out cards and even make handmade cards. Everyone was so thoughtful! Thank-you for extending your love to the rest of the parish. Many Blessings to everyone
– Dee
The Year of St. Joseph PrayerTo you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our afflictions, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also.
Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by His Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.
O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness.
As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too each of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven.
Amen
The 8 BeatitudesBlessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.Blessed are the merciful, for will be shown mercy.Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus, they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Merry Christmas To All! Whether this is your first time in a long time, first time ever or just another week visiting St. Bernard or St. Mary, WELCOME TO ALL! In looking for Christmas wisdom to share, I wanted to not just share my own words; I asked some of those who also teach and preach in our parishes what they thought.
Mike Costantini, Candidate for Permanent Deaconate: “Welcoming the Incarnated Christ results in welcoming peace and joy into our hearts so that it can be shared with others.”
Connor Hetzel, Candidate for Priesthood: “My mother and I went to Wisconsin recently to care for my grandmother who has Covid-19 because we are the closest people to her who have already had it.” (There are certain helps that only God-Incarnate, God-With-Us is qualified to give us.)
Father Frank Basa: We used to say “Keep Christ in Christmas.” Today we say, “Keep Covid-19 out of Christmas.” This year has been a very unique moment in history. Christmas should be like no other too… Nobody would ever have thought to celebrate Christmas in some form of lockdown years ago. Mary, Joseph and Jesus are still the reason to be a Christian family that gathers to celebrate the beginning of our salvation.”
Deacon Ray DiMascio: Christmas reminds us that God will show up in the strangest places whenever we need Him to.
Myself: Distance may be required for safety, but ultimately God’s decision in the Incarnation is to engage us to the fullest extent possible. With the highest level of engagement possible, the Lord kept the Holy Family together, led the Baby Jesus to safety and put an end to the power that every form of death, illness, destruction and political malice could hold over us. That level of engagement is still happening today. Will you welcome it? Will you be a part of Christ coming into the lives of those around you to the highest extent possible? If the answer yes, what a Merry Christmas of joy it will be indeed!
On behalf of myself and the staff members of St. Mary and St. Bernard Parishes, THANKS FOR THE ENGAGING TOGETHER! MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS US WITH THE CONSTANT TIDING OF HIS SPIRIT WHICH BRINGS COMFORT AND JOY!
– Father Chris
