In the GalleryDECEMBER 2–JANUARY 28Southwestward Ho! Exhibit by Steve Johnson

With all of the programs and options available today, some may think that straight landscape photography is dead. Steve Johnson doesn’t feel that way. He asks, “Is it less admirable to go after a conventionally beautiful image rather than to attempt higher art?” He wants his photographs to work on emotional, dramatic, and aesthetic levels. His inspiration comes from the photographers of the past including William Henry Jackson and J.K. Hillers who photographed the west when it was still wild.

FEBRUARY 3–MARCH 25A ReRETROSPECTIVE Exhibit by Mark Anderson Artist Reception: Tuesday, February 19 • 7–8 p.m.Mark Anderson's paintings represent a collection of ideas created from observing things that people generally ignore in everyday life. They are based on his travels to New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and around the Eau Claire area. His work covers a wide variety of subject matter including calligraphic shapes, architectural forms, still life, and semi-abstract portraits of people and nature in a vast palette of colors. Mark Anderson is a longtime resident of Wisconsin.
