As this is the first Newsletter being published,
something, we think, should be in black and white in the Foundation archive. Founded by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh in 1956, the Duke of Edinburgh‟s Award concept is one of individual challenge. It presents to young people (aged between 14 and 25) a balanced, non-competitive programme of voluntary activities which encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and service to their community. It also makes them versatile to experience different tastes of various phases of life.
Since 2008, The Duke of Edinburgh‟s Award Foundation, Bangladesh, a non-profit organization, is administrating the award programme as National Authority. Much as the award programme in Bangladesh is being operated with direct coordination and support from the Regional Secretariat in Australia and the international Secretariat in the UK, the foundation run with the support of a Board of Trustees. The names of the Honorable Trustee Members are mentioned in the front cover.
An Executive Committee, consisted of six honorable Members, directly represent the Trustee Board and work as Managerial Body of the Foundation. The Members in the Executive Committee are-
