Safety, Reliability and Redundancy for Your Business

COLOCATION

Oxford Networks is changing the landscape of how customers leverage data center services. Having acquired the US Navy Command and Control Center on the site of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station, we have taken unprecedented steps to add levels of security and redundancy that until now have been unavailable in most commercial data centers.

The facility is a low profi le design constructed with reinforced concrete and secured by Oxford Networks employees. Two barbed wire fences and access control on all entrances secure the perimeter. Card readers on entrances allow for continuous monitoring of foot traffi c in sensitive areas of the building. Security cameras are strategically installed for video surveillance. Our security measures are designed to deter any disruptive activity and provide an audit trail for all activity.

Our power plant is redundant in delivery and effi cient in performance. Each rack is supplied with power on diverse circuits, protected by our Uninterrupted Power Supply and backup diesel generators. Our generators have access to a total of 4,800 gallons of fuel ensuring continuous operations.

Our customers are able to leverage our data center space in several standard confi gurations. • 42U locking cabinets • Per U in our shared rack environment • Multiple racks in a contiguous fl oor plan available

Data center customers have the option of purchasing bandwidth directly from Oxford Networks. We provide BGP routing with major ISP’s and can confi gure band-width to meet your requirements. Customers may select their own carriers with the cross connect provided by Oxford Networks.

The New England Advantage • Cold temperatures mean free cooling for

most of the year, which means lower cost to your business

• Very low probability for earthquakes, tornados or other natural disasters

• Outside the 500 year fl ood zone

• Access to global telecom providers on diverse, high capacity fi ber optic pathways

• Tier 3 data center in a prime location that is two hours north of Boston, but has none of the headaches of urban colocation (traffi c, safety, high cost etc)

DISASTER RECOVERYIt’s a scary thought, but organizations are still looking at disaster recovery and business continuity as more of an a erthought than a priority. According to Forrester, only 6% of the average IT capital and operating costs are assigned to disaster recovery or business continuity. at gure pales in comparison to other IT investments such as hardware, so ware, virtualization, and cloud computing. e problem with organizations devoting most of their budget to those investments is the alarming risk of failure.

Aft er all, what good is any investment without insurance?

Given the business impacting events of the past decade, including ice storms, hurricanes, fl ooding, power outages and more, it’s clear that much can be lost due to a natural disaster.

Organizations that rely on their IT infrastructure to stay operational are at even more of a disadvantage, especially if they house their data and backup systems onsite. Aside from an uncontrollable force of nature, there are also other vicious threats that arise in the way of cyber terrorism.

Oxford Networks – An Integral Partner for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

Oxford Networks has three core diff erentiators: a highly redundant fi ber network, an outstanding data center (considered the best of breed in Northern New England) and a dedicated team of technical and operation experts. Why Oxford Networks?Oxford Networks’ believes strongly in the power of the Sophos UTM suite and the advantages it providers to end users. Th e features that Sophos provides however can be achieved through many other resellers. Most of those resellers will deploy UTM hardware that typically sits on-premises, at the edge of your corporate network. Th is approach has disadvantages, including a higher capital cost, a lower level of reliability and all of the other headaches of managing a device on-site.

Oxford Networks approaches managing security by centralizing the fi rewall at the core of the network, within the cloud infrastructure at the Oxford Network data center. Th is provides you with four distinct advantages:

Performance - It places the fi rewall where there is maximum throughput, eliminating concerns that your fi rewall could be the cause of latency or congestion within your network

Scalability & Cost Savings - It virtualizes the fi rewall which allows for scalability and growth over time. As you add more users and as traffi c increases across your network you do not have to over-buy a piece of hardware or buy new hardware, you can simply add additional resources to the virtual machine for a marginal increase in the monthly rate.

High Availability - Th e virtualized fi rewall can be re-built quickly and easily in the event of a failure. Th is is not the case with a stand-alone premises-based fi rewall.

Simpli ed Management - Managing the fi rewall is centralized through a single portal. Branch offi ces hang off the virtual fi rewall and are supported by RED hardware that requires zero on-site maintenance or confi guration.
