God Bless all our furry, feathered, scaled and other friends!
Fr. Jacek holds a jar of his pet “bees” from his beehive and Fr. Marcin holds his pet “fish” before the blessing of all the other furry and feathered friends on the Feast of St. Francis. Some of our furry companions chose to check out what was going on from a safe perch before “moseying” on down for this special blessing for good health and safety in all their days!

Rev.
MMy Dear Parishioners:
By asking “which commandment in the law is the greatest,” the Pharisees reveal an attitude toward law far different from that of Jesus. Instead of limiting the demand of the law as the Pharisees do to discrete commandments that are kept or not, Jesus teaches that the demand of the law embraces the totality of our relationships with God, self, and neighbor. Love defines our relationships; love is the wellspring of obedience to any commandment. Love is the greatest commandment because it truly is the whole Law of God!
Last weekend, our Second Graders received the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time. LLet us keep them in our prayers that they will try to continue to attend Mass each week with their parents (of course, according to the Coronavirus guidelines) and receive the Body of Christ for their strength as they go forward with their young lives with Jesus always at their side. Thank you to their parents, Godparents, and all their teachers who have been by their sides along this special journey!
Inserted in this weekend’s Bulletin is our annual Financial Summary of Operations ending June 30, 2020. It comes as no surprise that weekly collections were down about $40,000 due to the coronavirus Mass restrictions. Additionally, our rental income and tenant utilities reimbursements were down as well. Overall, we kept our operating expenses down about $30,000 but it was not enough to cover the deficit of over $111,000 from income from collections, rent and other income, resulting in a net deficit of $53,253.
As we continue to struggle with the effects of this coronavirus, we are looking at ways to maintain a positive balance sheet going forward and even make up some of our losses. We recently announced Memorial opportunities for our Advent candles and wreath which will begin the first week of Advent, and new Memorial opportunities for Christmas poinsettias (names to be published in the Christmas Bulletins - December 20 and 27) to be announced in the November 1st Bulletin. I would be glad to hear any suggestions you might have.
Please note our All Souls’ Day Mass schedule for Monday, November 2nd, in this weekend’s Bulletin, along with our special Mass of Remembrance at 6:30PM.
Thank you for the collections this past weekend: $3,799. World Mission Sunday: $635.
God Bless You. Enjoy the beautiful Autumn weather. Have a safe and healthy week. Fr Jacek
