Guidelines for Participants
Dear Sym
posium Participant,
Welcom
e to the first Assassination Sym
posium on John F. K
ennedy. It is our sincere hope that this w
ill become an annual D
allas-based meeting of w
riters, researchers, and critics. Som
e of the goals of this first conference include: I) T
o initiate a dialogue concerning the events surrounding Novem
ber 22, 1963. 2) T
o raise public awareness about the unresolved questions pertaining to the
President's assassination. 3) T
o push for the complete release of all evidence now
held by the government.
4) To press for a full, official and non-political inquiry Into the President's m
urder and the subsequent cover-up.
In order to accomplish these goals, a search for com
mon ground and consensus w
ill be required. A
s difficult as this may seem
considering the diversity of personalities and opinions present at this sym
posium, achievem
ent of some unity of purpose is
passible if we keep in m
ind the following:
• 1
) Tim
e limitations cannot be overcom
e. This constraint alone disallow
s full discussion of every subject.
2) Conflicting opinions are inevitable and expected. Such is the nature of any
probe for the truth. 3) D
isagreements w
ill occur. These, how
ever, should be expressed in a respectful . and civilized m
ariner.
In spite of these difficulties, some m
easure of success and progress can be accom
plished if all participants adopt a cooperative attitude toward the conference
and their fellow attendees. T
olerance of the views and opinions expressed by others
is imperative.
Finally, thank you for participating. H
opefully you will find this sym
posium
enlightening and inspirational. With a little luck (and a great deal of effort on the part
of each of us), perhaps we can leave A
SK w
ith a better understanding of the K
ennedy assassination and of each other. This, com
bined with a renew
ed vigor tow
ard the pursuit of truth, could do much to send a m
essage to the nation. We w
ill not quit.
Yours in the pursuit of truth,
