A Return to the World
of the Imagination
The classes provide a carefully structured developmental
programme, focusing on the child's personality, with an
emphasis on developing communication skills and
encouraging creativity. Students who participate will grow
into well-balanced, self-confident adults with a wide range
of life-skills.
Classes will cover all aspects of:
• Speech
Correction and detection of speech faults. Voice production & speech. Breathing and relaxation exercises. Preparation of poetry and play reading.
• Mime
“The language of the heart expressed in the gestures of the body”
• Improvisation
Creative role-playing. Develops concentration, self-confidence, responding and interacting with others and exercises the imagination.
• Puppetry
Puppet theatre allows students to create and express characters, relationships and situations. It has a special value for the shy child.
• Theatre Games
Initiate in the actor a process of self-awareness and discovery. Helps build up relationships within a group.
• Royal Irish Academy Examinations
Grade exams held once every year.
• Feis Maitiú
Held once every year.
• Film / TV / Theatre work / Agency

About Catherine Beatty Catherine Beatty ARIAM, LRIAM, DipLCM,
ATCL, LLCM, is founder and director of the
Catherine Beatty Drama Academy. In
addition to her Speech & Drama teaching
diplomas, Catherine also graduated with
diplomas for singing with the London College of Music &
Media and Trinity College of Music, London. Catherine's
range of experience includes classical and contemporary
drama, musical theatre, film work and corporate PR.
About the Drama Academy The Drama Academy provides drama and
theatre training for students ranging from 4-18
years of age. Students experience to date
includes prize-winning performances in Feis Maitiú for
Drama, Poetry, Mime, Improvisation and Storytelling.
Participation is encouraged, as the experience gained
performing before an audience helps build self-
confidence.
Students are also encouraged to enter for the Royal Irish
Academy examinations and have been awarded
Distinction/Honours. They have also obtained High
Achiever Awards and were selected to perform at a gala
concert for the former President of Ireland.
Film / TV / Theatre / Agency Students have appeared in: “Fair City”, “Jackie
Chan”, “The Family”, “Words Upon the Window
Pane”, “Old Curiosity Shop”, “Frankie Starlight,”
“Glenroe”, “Ballykissangel”, “Not Afraid, Not
Afraid”, “Run for Your Life”, TV Commercials, and
performances in The National Concert Hall.
The Catherine Beatty Drama Academy frequently receives
requests from Production Companies requiring talented
students to participate in TV, Films and Theatre
Productions. Students who have demonstrated a sufficient
level of acting ability may be invited to audition for these
roles.
