Welcome to the OMM Workbook SS15. OMM and mountain marathons have continued to grow and this season we will push the boundaries with increasingly innovative designs.

OMM has expanded its product offerings with new top end lines. The Phantom Series began in AW14 and built on the very strong demand for our Aether Jackets. Initial demand has been high and in this season we continue to introduce more high end, no compromise, products including a more technical Contour Hood and revision of our Rapid lines into the New grid. We hope you like them.

Range expansion is only possible thanks to continued turnover growth. 2013 showed a growth over 2012 of 36%. This was fuelled largely by clothing growth in the UK and the opening of Japanese markets through a distribution partnership with Nomadics. Denmark and Sweden

are also showing strong growth and it gives me great pleasure to see these new faces in the team.

We are taking action to spread our sport wider. The Icelandic OMM is now a firm fixture on the calendar and the inaugural Japanese OMM will be taking place in November 14. We have decided that OMM events will be a ‘not for profit’ part of OMM. We still need to generate a surplus to buffer against unexpected costs but now, when events run smoothly, any remaining balance will be put to good use. We look forward to announcing how this will be spent.

Compatibility We move all seams away from rub points with

packs and avoid conflict with pockets where

possible. Latest technologies ensure seaming is

flat where needed and careful sizing of pockets to

accommodate essential maps, compasses, gels...

Fit and Motion Accurate fit creates better insulation, breathability

and minimises flapping fabric. However, you must

be free to do what you want to do. We use stretch

fabrics to give a closer, silent fit and abrasion

resistant materials where these are needed.

Layering Flexibility to use a limited number of garments

to generate a wide range of insulating and

weather responsive combinations is core to

being truly leanweight.

LeanWEIgHT

The right features at minimal weight for best

performance. OMM clothing must be light but

not at the expense of safety or function. OMM

eventers experience extreme conditions where

correct clothing is survival.

On The Move Accessibility Most of your kit will not need to be accessed

while moving. However, water, food, compass

and map are essential to keep at hand. Our

packs and clothing allow access to these key

items while still running.

Ventilation Temperature regulation is essential to minimise

perspiration and maximize comfort on endurance

events. Insulation layers needs to be adaptable

through ascent, descent, fast and slow.

To minimize lost time changing layers, OMM

clothing must vent – sleeves must pushed, long

zips open allowing the perspiration to escape

and fabrics must wick and breath.

The OMM Phantom series is designed for people who believe that the lightest equipment is critical. The Phantom series is aimed at fast, light and endurance competitors who require the highest possible functionality from the lowest possible weight.

A minimalist design principle has been applied to the Phantom series, combined with the highest quality fabrics and components.

THE PHANTON HARNESS SySTEM

When running humans balance the action of running by raising the opposite arm to the leg that’s being raised. This creates a decrease in the distance between shoulder and opposite hip as the body rotates. However the length down the middle of the runners spine does not change. Phantom is designed to maintain the same length in the middle but increased in length over the shoulders when required. The PHANTOM SUSPENSION®. It utilises a narrow yoke style connection behind the neck of the competitor combining fully adjustable elasticated cord at the shoulders.

To counter the vertical effect of running on the movement of the Pack the bottom of the shoulder strap has a four-point attachment system. When the runner pushes off, the weight pulls on the lower strap but, as the runner drops back down, the upper strap tightens preventing the shoulder loosening and ultimately stopping the vertical movement of the PHANTOM PACK. In addition to this body surface area has been minimised which, in turn, has lead to a reduction in heat retention and discomfort while significantly boosting running performance.

OMM’s third element for stabilisation of the PHANTOM PACK is the removable waist strap with pockets. The PHANTOM PACK provides the competitor a choice of removable systems to give the best performance for differing loads. In the unused waist pockets can be attached to the shoulder harness to provide extra storage space.

LINK systemThe lINK system allows us to join OMM products from throughout the range in a modular system to create a pack that is unique to the user and tailored to travel, ski, climb or anything else. Through the use of LINK we can maximise accessibility to bottles, maps, ice equipment for improved on the move accessibility.

MultifunctionMinimal packs must make the best use of features to enable multiple function. To name a few; The Multisport Compressor (MSC) gives compression and load carry; the Duomat is both a back system and a sleep mat; The Universal Gear Rail (UGR) carries a wide range of equipment from axes to snowshoes and beyond.

On The Move Accessibility Most equipment is only needed when stopping however waterproofs, water, food, compasses and maps etc. are essential to keep at hand for easy on the move access.

Strength OMM Leanweight chassis system and technical fabric selections provides strength at minimal weight for lean packs that can be depended on in uncompromising situations.

UgR

LEANWEIgHT We don’t all use our OMM packs in the same way or for the same things and the features we require vary accordingly. For example, some people use a hydration bladder; some people use bottles. OMM specially creates parts of the pack that can be removed to produce a personally optimized leanweight product. Eventers can also get their scissors out and remove excess features in the hunt to save further grams without invalidating guarantees in other areas of the pack. Our quoted LEANWEIgHT is the pack weight less all removable parts but before scissors.

StabilityPacks need to be stable for comfort while active. Harness attachment and compression systems keep the load tight to the back and stable while running geometry stops excess movement on the back.

HydrationAll Packs are designed for endurance sports so water carry and accessibility is essential. This is standardised on OMM packs to allow under or over arm access to bladders and multiple bottle carry positions.
