Her fans were spread across Asia and she earned fanfare as a woman which back then was unheard of," Richa's spokesperson said in a statement. MUMBAI - On receiving death threats, Urvashi said: "I was shocked and speechless when I started receiving death threats. I felt vulnerable. It [re- ceiving death threats] has been hap- pening quite often these days, es- pecially in our industry. First, it happened with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, and now with our film. People need to under- stand that whatever they see us saying o n screen, we are not doing it on our own. There are dialogue writers for a movie, there is a script to be followed... whatever my charac- ter says is not a reflection on my personal opinion or principles in life. The duo was sent back to the pavilion in the four th over with only 22 runs on board. New batsmen Lokesh Rahul (18) and Suresh Raina (27), who were looking good at the crease, were dismissed after getting a good start. The first one to go was Raina in the seventh over. His time at the crease was cut short by Nuwan Pradeep when scoreboard was reading 62 runs. Three overs later, Rahul got hit-wicket off Jeevan Mendis. But after that, Manish Pandey (42) and Dinesh Karthik (39) played sensibly and made sure that their team overhaul the target without any more hiccups. Together they forged an unbeaten 68-run partnership. For Sri Lanka, Akila Dananjaya took two wickets. Earlier, put in to bat, Sri Lanka posted 152/9. The hosts lost their wickets at regular intervals. Apar t from opener Kusal Mendis (55), no other batsmen contributed handsomely. The hosts started on a steady note but when scoreboard was reading 25 runs in three overs, opener Danushka Gunathilaka (17) was dismissed by pacer Shardul Thakur. Incoming batsmen Kusal Perera (3) also failed this time and was sent packing cheaply by leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the very next over. With scoreboard reading 34/2, Mendis and new batsman Upul Tharanga (22) joined hands and forged a 58-r un partnership to stabilise the innings. Just when things seemed good in the middle, Tharanga was sent back by pacer Vijay Shankar in the 11th over, making the score read 96/3. Skipper Thisara Perera (15) also failed to rise to the occasion and gifted away his wicket to Thakur when he was needed the most. Thefilm, which also stars Parineeti Chopra, is being shot in Wai, in Maharashtra's Satara District. Produced by filmmaker Karan Johar, theAnurag Singh directorial is based on the battle of Saragarhi. "Kesari" is slated for 2019 Holi release.

When I made 'Guzaarish' on euthanasia, there was hue and cry: BhansaliMUMBAI, (IANS) Af ter the Supreme Cour t announced on Friday that a person has the "right to die with dignity" in case of an irreversiblestage of terminal illness, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who tackled the theme of euthanasia in "Guzaarish", has recounted that thesubject had sparked a hue and cry when the movie released in 2010."I remember when I had made 'Guzaarish', there was plenty of hue and cry over my plea to allow the irreversibly ailing to end their lives,"Bhansali said. "Guzaarish" narrated the story of a quadriplegic hero's (Hrithik Roshan) plea for death. Now another Hollywood filmseems to have taken from the idea of happy-dying in "Guzaarish".Andy Serkis' biopic "Breathe" is a real-life drama about Robin Cavendish who contracted polio at the age of 28 and defied doctors'doomsday declarations by outliving all the medical prophecies. Cavendish, played by Andrew Gar field, decides to end his life in a niceand happy sur rounding inviting his closest friends and loved ones for a farewell par ty on the night before he pulls the plug on his life. This was a scenario constructed in "Guzaarish" much earlier where the quadriplegic Ethan (Hrithik) invites his close friends over for ahappy send-off. Aren't the similarities coincidental between two films made in two different continents and time zones? Bhansali said:"I haven't seen 'Breathe'. But the similarities must be unintentional.""Guzaarish" was based on someone close to Bhansali, he said. "Though I am no stranger to pain, what I saw in this person took pain andsuffering to another level, I realised that there comes a point in every life when a full stop is the only solution." While researching on thesubject of euthanasia for the movie, Bhansali had let go off all temptation to watch films on the subject of mercy killing. "I didn't want toget even remotely influenced in my thought and vision by what other filmmakers have done on the subject," he said.

'HATE STORY IV': FEMME FATALESHINES IN THIS REVENGE SAGA

CAST: URVASHI RAUTELA, VIVAN

BHATENA, KARAN WAHI, IHANA DHILLON

DIRECTOR: VISHAL PANDYA

For a change, this four th edition of "Hate Story" series is apleasant surprise. It is not a noir film but it cer tainly has afemme fatale who is impressive and who holds her ownagainst characters that are bad. Keeping with the theme of thefranchise, revenge remains the core issue at the hear t of thistale too. And there is ample skin show and frothy music whichunfor tunately does nothing to propel the nar rative. The story by Sameer Arora revolves around business tycoonVikram Khurana's two sons Aryan (Vivan Bhatena) and Rajvir(Karan Wahi). While Aryan is happily married to Rishma(Ihana Dhillon), Rajvir is a flir t whose girlfriends don't last forover six months. Rajvir stumbles upon Tasha (UrvashiRautela) after he is assigned to find a fresh face to model fortheir company with the instruction, "Aisa chehra jo madhoshbhi kare aur hosh bhi uda de".Tasha is a dancer at a local club who aspires to be a model. And she cer tainly fits the bill for not only does Rajvir fall forher, but also his older brother Aryan and their father Vikram(Gulshan Grover) -- who too has a roving eye but keeps it incheck owing to his for thcoming mayoral elections -- find her

very attractive. While Rajvir genuinely falls in love withTasha, Aryan hoodwinks his brother to get closer to her. Butwhat it results in is a web of manipulation, doubt, blackmailand ultimately revenge. The plot, narrated in a non-linear manner, is skilfully craftedwith a taut and neat screenplay. The first half of the film isracy and keeps you hooked and the second half gets into apreachy tone. The dynamics between the actors are rocksolid. With her oomph and floss, Urvashi Rautela as thefemme fatale Tasha is impressive. She is the star attractionof the film.Of the two male leads, neither Vivan Bhatena nor Karan Wahihave the on-screen charisma to counter-balance Urvashi. They deliver, but per functorily. Gulshan, on the other hand, isslack and wasted in a stereotypical role. The productionquality of the film is superior and the visuals by cinematogra-pher Sunita Radia are appealing. While the locales andscenes are matter-of-factly layered, the songs are cut likemusic videos. None of the songs stand out. Overall, "HateStory IV" is an engrossing tale despite its predictability.

'DIL JUUNGLEE': A LIGHT ANDFROTHY ENTERTAINER

CAST: TAAPSEE PANNU, SAQIB SALEEM,

ABHILASH THAPLIYAL

DIRECTOR: ALEYA SEN

"Dil Juunglee" is a frothy romantic comedy about a boy and girlfrom diverse backgrounds, with completely different goals anddesires in life. Koroli aka Koro (Taapsee Pannu), the onlydaughter of a wealthy businessman Mr Nair who wants her totake over and run his business, is constantly immersed inbooks, romantic characters and fantasises about being marriedhappily with a home and husband. Business does not obviouslyinterest her at all. "Mujhe numbers samajh nahin aate, mainconfuse ho jaati hun (I don't understand numbers, I get con-fused)," she says. And all she longs for is someone to love her. After several attempts at seeking love, sometimes, almostpleading with the boys, Koro meets Sumit Uppal (SaqibSaleem), a Lajpat Nagar gym instructor, who dreams of makingit big in Bollywood, when he enrols in her English speakingclasses to better his accent and language. An otherwise self-absorbed guy, Sumit or Bond 007 as he prefers to call himself, dotes on his mother, who has single-handedly brought him up.The inevitable happens and although they are diametricallyopposite, they fall in love. With both sets of parents opposingthe mar riage, they plan to elope and get married, friends in tow.A twist at half-time however changes their lives. Following theinterval, the setting shif ts to London, where seven years later, Koronow successfully manages her father's business and has done himproud. She is all set to marry a childhood friend Jai and byhappenstance meets Sumit again who is there for a shoot. The simple storyline notwithstanding, writer-director Aleya Sen

manages to keep the audience hooked through her well-etchedcharacters and astute approach to the narrative. There aregenerous doses of humour and most of the dialogues are wittyand replete with life lessons. While the story may seempredictable, it never ceases to engage you. There is enter tain-ment galore and the strong per formances by each of thecharacters, including the suppor ting ones, enhances theexperience.Abhilash Thapliyal as Sumit's friend Prashant is endearing.Srishti Shrivastva as the snooty Shumi, with an accent and adisregard for the 'Lajpat Nagris', lights up the screen. Taapseeas Koro is brilliant and effor tless. She breathes the characterand is extremely convincing as the incorrigible romantic wholives in a make-believe world. Her transition in the second halfis equally commendable. Saqib as the flamboyant, self-centred,rustic Delhi lad with stars in his eyes, is equally proficient anda treat to watch. He too essays the progression in his characterwith panache. The film boasts of good production values and whether it is thebylanes of Old Delhi or the London Bridge in the UK, these havebeen beautifully captured by the lensman. The music, includingGuru Randhawa's "Nachle na" to the romantic remix track"Gazab ka hai din", is melodious and fits well in the narrative.Overall, this film surrounded by almost no hype, is a pleasantsurprise as it enter tains you completely and keeps you rivetedto the screen.

Director: Arjun Mukherjee; Cast: Richa Chadha, PulkitSamrat, Renuka Shahane, Sharman Joshi, MasumehMakhija, Ankit Rathi and Aisha Ahmad

Debutant director Arjun Mukherjee's "3 Storeys", with amisleading title, is a craftily narrated tale of charactersliving in a three-storey chawl in Mumbai. Set in a middle-class dwelling in the hear t of Mumbai, the setting plays asignificant part in por traying the social fabric and astutelyintertwines the lives of the people living there. The first act star ts on an intriguing note but soon crumbles. The narrative, with its twists and turns, is on-the-nose andproceeds with reckless abandon. And the characters re-ally need to "get it" if the story is to have its triumphantthird-act liberation, which they do. Their tales are exciting, absorbing yet cliched. Renuka Shahane, with prostheticsand gaudy make-up as the Goan, Flory Mendonca is a tadover the top. Though she per forms to the best of her ability, she seems to be a misfit in her role. She plays a pampering mother who spares the rod andspoils her son Anthon. Masumeh Makhija and SharmanJoshi pair as star-crossed lovers; Varsha Joshi a Brahmingirl and Shankar Verma the ace embroider, who land upliving in the same building. Their on-screen chemistry ispalpable. Similarly, debut actors Aisha Ahmed and AnkitRathi as Malini and Sohail make a cute pair caught in aninter-religion love story. Their romance, though under-played, creates a ripple and you root for the two.Among the others in significant roles are Himanshu Malikas the bachelor police officer Ganpat, who lives alone andRicha Chadha, the seductress-cum-nar rator. Thoughwasted in miniscule par ts, they have their moments of on-screen glory. The film, mounted on a moderate scale, istechnically sound. Will Humphris' camera work is good inpar ts. His frames capture the locales and emotions sharply, but some of his frames are shaky and the lighting a tadpoor. Clinton Cerejo's music blends well with the nar rativeand elevates the viewing experience. Overall, an intelli-gent viewer would initially dismiss the film as a lazily pennedplot with banalities and plot-holes galore, but then the writerscheekily and astutely wrap up the film... At some points, itmakes you say, "Ah, I did not see that coming." And, if youare in a good mood, you will leave the film on a positivenote or else you will feel cheated for investing in the char-acters that were just a figment of one's imagination. None-theless, climb the "3 Storeys" and find out for yourself.

TIGER SHROFF IS'CHOREOGRAPHER'S ACTOR'NEW DELHI, (IANS) Tiger Shroff is an "amazing per former"and is a choreographer's actor, says choreographer RahulShetty. Shetty worked with Tiger on the song "Beat pebooty" and this year's track "Mundiyan" from the for th-coming f i lm "Baaghi 2" . On col laborat ing wi th the"Baagh i " ac to r, She t t y to ld IANS: "T ige r i s achoreographer's actor. You can make him do anything. He will follow you and make your work look even moresuperior." The audience loves Tiger's dancing skills. Butwhat are his shortcomings?"Yes, Tiger is an amazing per former. As far as his shor t-comings are concerned, I know that he works really hardfor everything, and that is how all his shor tcomings be-come his power points," said the choreographer who hasalso worked with actors like Akshay Kumar and VarunDhawan. "Baaghi 2" is directed by Ahmed Khan, who isalso a popular choreographer. Did he give suggestions toShetty? "Yes, he is the captain of the ship. He is an inspira-tion to me. So, it was like an examination for me to choreo-graph this song ('Mundiyan'). I tried my best to do justiceto it," he said. When he is not working on films, reality shows like "NachBaliye" keep him busy. "I am the child of reality shows. That is why I still choreograph reality shows and keepmyself updated with the new styles and techniques. Butyes, I have plans to do my own reality shows in future,"said the choreographer, who became popular after par tici-pating in "Dance India Dance Doubles".

India thus avengedthe 2-3 loss to Ireland in their last league stage match onFriday which had eliminated their already slim chances ofqualifying for the medal rounds. Ireland finished sixth in thetournament. Saturday's match capped a rather insipid cam-paign for India during which the only positive results were a5-1 rout of hosts Malaysia and a 1-1 draw with Europeanpowerhouse England.

Rabada in more trouble withfresh conduct breach chargeDUBAI, (IANS) For the second time in four days, South Africapaceman Kagiso Rabada found himself in a soup on disci-plinary grounds with the International Cricket Council (ICC)confirming on Monday that the pacer has been repor ted for anew level one offence. The fresh charge relates to the send-off he gave Australia vice captain David Warner after dis-missing the opener on Sunday, the third day of the secondTest at St. George's Park - the same day that he was contest-ing a more serious charge related to his on-field behaviourwith Aussie skipper Steve Smith on the opening day of thematch.A Level 1 offence carries with it a maximum of 50 per centmatch fee fine and two demerit points. Earlier, Rabada washit with a level two charge for the Smith incident, whichcarries a sanction of three or four demerit points. Rabada isalready on five demerit points, and reaching eight demeritpoints automatically triggers a two-Test ban. This is the four th instance that the 22-year-old fast bowlerhave been charged, two of which have been for send-offs.InFebruary last year, Rabada was charged for inappropriateand deliberate physical contact with Sri Lanka's NiroshanDickwella while in July 2017, the pacer was caught usinginappropriate language after dismissing England all-rounderBen Stokes. In the recently concluded series against India last month,Rabada was charged for using language which could pro-voke an aggressive reaction from another player in the send-off of India batsman Shikhar Dhawan. ICC match referee JeffCrowe will deliver his verdict later on Monday after whichthe Proteas will get a clearer picture of whether the pacerwill be available for the remaining two Tests of the four-match series against the Kangaroos.

Wrong if BCCI dropped Shamifrom annual contract for hiswife's complaint: Usha NathKOLKATA, (IANS) BCCI's former Principal Legal Advisor UshaNath Bandyopadhyay on Monday said it would be "illegaland wrong" if the BCCI has cancelled pacer MohammedShami's annual contract on the basis of a "complaint by hiswife". Shami, engaged in a bitter feud with his wife HasinJahan, found himself out of the Board of Control for Cricket inIndia's (BCCI) 26-member annual contracts system onWednesday. However, the BCCI so far has not clarified whether the deci-sion was taken simply on merit or in view of the ongoingcontroversy involving shami's wife, who accused the Ben-gal pacer of domestic violence and carrying on extra-maritalaffairs. Shami faces charges of attempting to murder hiswife by poisoning her, with a First Information Repor t filed atthe Jadavpur police station the implicating the cricketer andfour others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. "The selection (of a player) is done on the basis of merit andI have nothing to say if a player's contract is cancelled on thebasis of that. If the contract is cancelled on the basis of acomplaint by his wife, it would be illegal and wrong. BCCIhas no right to cancel the contract on the basis of a com-plaint filed by his wife," said Bandyopadhyay. According tothe lawyer, action against a person can be taken once he isconvicted by a cour t.
