Air Charter The Air Charter service offers you the best of both worlds – a travel schedule to suit your needs from your local airfield. Modern aircraft offer luxury travel for up to 9 passengers throughout the UK and Europe. Assistance with airport formalities, baggage handling, taxis and accommodation completes a truly executive service for both business trips and private leisure breaks.

A birds eye view See the glorious English countryside from the air. This is a wonderful way to view the beautiful South East of England, taking in famous landmarks such as the Thames valley, the magnificent Seven Sisters and Beachy head on the South Coast.

Isn’t it very expensive? We have a competitively priced range of flights to suit all pockets and for ease of budgeting we accept all major credit cards.

Duration of flight 30 minutes is an ideal amount of time for an introductory flight as it allows you to experience a take off, a pleasure flight over the local countryside (or coast) and naturally a landing back at base.If you wish to go further afield we can lengthen the trip to 40 or 60 minutes. If there is somewhere that you would particularly enjoy seeing from the air, tell us about it and if possible we will plan to fly you there

Omega Flight Training is a CAA approved Flight Training Organisation (FTO). We offer training through to the JAR PPL qualification on our fleet of Cessna and Piper training aircraft. You may if you wish take your first couple of lessons in different aircraft – you can then make an informed choice (with your instructor) of your training aeroplane.

Instruction is given on a one to one basis with an instructor allocated to you for your course of training. All instruction follows the European Joint Aviation Authority’s approved training syllabus, which requires a minimum of 45 hours training to be undertaken. As each student will be different, Omega Flight Training’s instructors will individually evaluate each person and regularly advise you of your progress.

DUAL INSTRUCTION

A minimum of 25 hours dual instruction will be undertaken. This includes all basic exercises in aircraft handling and airmanship to take the student through to First Solo, which is usually achieved between 12 and 18 hours total flying time. Further dual instruction covers advanced turning, emergency and precautionary landings, instrument appreciation, navigation and landing away at other airfields.Training is normally carried out in the airspace between Beachy Head and Selsey Bill, with cross country flying to airports selected from Lydd, Manston, Headcorn, Southend, Blackbushe, Goodwood and the Isle of Wight. Towards the end of your course you will fly with your instructor to Bournemouth International Airport. This will enable you to gain experience of flying to a busy major airport and into the associated controlled airspace.

SOLO FLYING

Once you have mastered the art of taking off and landing you will be sent on your first solo flight, which will be one circuit of the airfield. Prior to this you must have passed the Aviation Law and Human Performance and Limitations exams, and have attained a medical certificate from a CAA approved medical examiner. (This is a fairly basic examination and does not normally present any difficulties).Having mastered the techniques involved in cross-country navigation, you will be sent on your first solo navigational flight into the local flying area. Before this flight you must have passed the Navigation and Meteorology exams.

GROUND EXAMINATIONS

A total of 7 multiple choice ground examinations must be passed before taking your skill test at the end of the course. You will already have passed the first 5 written exams and the Communications practical exam prior to your Qualifying Cross-Country flight.

In summary the ground exams are:

(a) Air law and Operational Procedures(b) Human Performance and Limitations(c) Navigation and Radio Aids(d) Meteorology(e) Communications (written and practical)(f) Aircraft General and Principles of Flight(g) Flight Performance and Planning

SKILL TEST

After completion of all of your flying training and ground exams, you will take a skill test with a flight examiner. (This will normally be with our in-house examiner). All lessons also include full pre-flight briefings and debriefings.

CPL – Commercial Pilot’s Licence

Omega Flight Training have been running highly successful Commercial Pilot Licence courses for many years and boasts some of the most qualified and experienced instructors in this field. We specialise in the provision of fully flexible “Modular

Courses” of flight training. The aim of the course is to train PPL(A) holders to the level of proficiency necessary for the issue of a CPL(A). This course is designed for

applicants who do not wish to undertake a full time course of integrated training or who wish to stagger their training by completing approved modules of training over

a period of time.

The course consists of at least 25hours dual instruction, which includes 10hours instrument instruction. If a JAA IR is held, then the course minimum is reduced to

15hours as the 10 hours instrument time is not required.

Although it is only required that 5hours training is carried out on a complex aircraft (Omega Flight Training use the Piper PA28R Arrow), we strongly recommend

completing most, if not all of the course on the Arrow at minimal additional cost.

The course begins with general handling and emergency consolidation training, before moving on to the instrument part with both full and partial panel exercises.

Navigation exercises follow with a build up to practice skill test sorties. An important part of the CPL course is the development of the pilot’s understanding of Threat and

Error Management, and Cockpit Resource Management. Omega Flight Training strives to produce a fully competent commercial pilot with the ability to handle

complex situations and feel at ease on the day of the test.

Ground school is available, if required, to assist students understanding of flight planning and preparation, performance calculations and commercial aircraft

operational requirements. Omega Flight Training is the only training organisation at Shoreham Airport with an A.O.C. for commercial flight operations, giving it

unparalleled insight and access into the day to day activities of genuine commercial aviation activities.

The flight test is flown from Shoreham with a CAA Flight Test Examiner.

Pre-Entry Requirements:

Prior to commencement of the course, the applicant shall:

(a) Be the holder of a PPL(A) issued in accordance with ICAO annex 1

(b) Have completed 150hours flight time as pilot (total time)

Due to the fact that the CPL Skill Test can not be attempted until all of the required training (including the theoretical training) has been completed, we strongly

recommend completion of the theoretical training, prior to commencement of the flight training.

A pass in the theory exams will be accepted for the issue of the CPL(A) or IR(A) during the 36months from the date of the final pass in the examinations.

20 Hours in C152 and 5 Hours in an Arrow - £5,390.0020 Hours in PA28-181 and 5 Hours in an Arrow - £6,350.00

Whole 25 Hour Course in an Arrow (PA28R) - £6,750.00

The course prices can be paid in two parts, one half and then the other half once the first has finished. The course prices do not include landing fee’s or circuit fee’s. These

can to be paid extra either separately or more money placed on account.

FI (R) – Flight Instructor (Restricted)

Omega Flight Training has run highly successful Flying Instructor Courses for many years. With some of the most experienced instructors in the field, Omega Flight

Training specialises in both full and part time instructor courses. As well as the basic course, we offer the full range of additional Flight Instructor Courses: Night,

Instrument, Multi-Engine and Aerobatic.

The Flight Instructor (Restricted) course comprises 30 hours flight training in the Cessna 152 and a comprehensive ground school of 125 hours. The flight test is

carried out at Shoreham normally by one of our own Flight Instructor Examiners.

The FI(R) Rating entitles the instructor to carry out flight training for the JAA PPL under the supervision of an unrestricted FI on the class of aircraft on which the test was taken. The FI(R) is not permitted to supervise the 1st student solo day or night

flight or the 1st solo navigation flight. To remove the supervisory restriction, the FI(R) must complete at least 100hrs of flight instruction under supervision, and have

supervised at least 25 student solo flight.

Before embarking on the course it is useful for the student instructor to revise subjects such as Principles of Flight, Navigation, Rules of the Air and licensing

requirements. A core part of the course is learning how to teach adults and how to adapt teaching style to suit the student pilot. The flying part of the course is basically

a revision of the PPL syllabus exercises flown from an instructor’s point of view. Firstly the student instructor is taught how to teach a part of a lesson and then given the opportunity to practice to his/her instructor. Analysing and correcting mistakes

during training is a key learning point of the lessons. Ground school works in a similar way, with the student instructor given lectures and briefings but then given the

opportunity to practice them in front of his/her tutor. By the end of the course the student instructor will be very competent at delivering lectures on technical

subjects, pre-flight briefings and most of all have the ability to instructor a flight lesson to a high standard.

The test itself is comprised of several sections; a ground school lecture, a pre-flight briefing and a flight that tests the ability of the student instructor to teach a

selection of airborne exercises.

30 Hour Course in a Cessna 152 - £7,380.00

30 Hour Course in a PA28-181 - £8,400.00

The course prices can be paid in two parts, one half and then the other half once the first has

finished. The course prices do not include landing fee’s or circuit fee’s. These can to be paid extra either separately or more money

placed on account.

MEP – Multi Engine Rating

The multi-engine rating is carried out on our Piper Seneca III Range. The Seneca III has 220hp turbo-charged engines, six seats, comfortable interior with club seating

and has a cruise airspeed of around 140kts.

The multi-engine rating course comprises a minimum of 6 hours flight training. 2.5 hours general handling and 3.5hours single engine handling covering all types of emergency. Ground school training of 7 hours is included covering such things as performance, wt and bal., propeller theory, effect of single engine operation on performance. The course culminates in a written exam and a flight test taken at

Shoreham, with an in house examiner.

The course is also of great benefit to anyone contemplating taking an instrument rating in the future. It is fully airways equipped, cleared for flight in moderate icing

conditions and has a 3-axis autopilot.

To maintain the MEP rating (valid for 12 months) you are required to fly 10 sectors (each sector has to be at least 15 minutes in the cruise) and undergo a flight test

with an examiner. Alternatively fly a sector and complete a test with an examiner.

If you have an I.R., you will be able to renew both ratings at the same time by test.

6hrs in an PA34 £2,580
