Home/building automation challenges

• For consumers, putting together a smart home remains mostly a do‐it‐yourself project. [New York Times 2014‐06]

• Almost half of today’s projects involve multiple legacy control protocols—such as BACnet, LonTalk, DALI, C‐Bus, Modbus, KNX, etc — that don’t interoperate. [knxtoday 2014‐04]
