As a professional in Oman’s oil and gas industry, you may already be aware that revenue from this sector is expected to reach RO 7.2 billion in 2012 - an increase of 22.5 % when compared to 2011. In addition, the demand for power and water is expected to rise 9% every year according to the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company. This makes way for the development of Greenfield and Brownfield EPC projects within both the oil and gas and power and water sectors. Oman’s demand for oil and gas has led to large scale expansion, explo-ration projects and the subsequent requirement for EPC Projects in order to enhance production and meet demand. However, the project owners - government authorities, oil & gas companies and power & water companies have identified a number of challenges they face when tendering and managing EPC projects. These include: how to select an appropriate EPC contractor, collaborating successfully with project stakehold-ers to deliver the project within budget and time constraints, a lack of clearly defined responsibilities and accountabilities, a lack of a proven successful finance model and difficulty in communicating their requirements to the EPC contractor.

In order to help address these challenges, IQPC Oman has put together the first ever Oman EPC Projects summit to help project owners to ensure all their EPC projects meet the requirements in a timely and cost effective manner, to find the right source of funding and develop an efficient procurement process in order to minimise risks and additional costs.
