MAKING A GOOD THING BETTER

ROYAL AIR MAROCFLIES E-JETS

A GOLDEN MILESTONE FOR ROYAL JORDANIAN

OMAN AIR

I always welcome the opportunity visit our customers around the region. Ensuring that their Embraer aircraft are operating with maximum reliability is key to our role as an EOM.

Even though it has been nearly nine years since the first E-Jet was delivered to Saudi Arabian Airlines, there are still many carriers throughout the region who have limited know-ledge of the role the aircraft are playing in building frequen-cies and improving overall connectivity.

That’s quite understandable. The regional jet revolution that swept the USA and Europe in the 1990s never really came to the Middle East. The landscape here is fundamentally different so the needs of local airlines and the concentration of traffic have influenced how cities are connected.

I believe the fundamental applications of smaller-capacity jets are universal and there is still tremendous potential for aircraft in the 70 to 120-seat category. Our customers in the Middle East fly their E-Jets to maximize their utilization and, arguably, are operating them in the harshest environment in the world. They are true pioneers for regional aviation.

Last September, we celebrated the delivery of the 1,000th factory-produced E-Jet. That milestone could never have been achieved without our valued customers in the Middle East. I would like to extend my personal thank you for their loyalty to Embraer and their support of the E-Jets program.

Of course, we’re not stopping there. Last June, we launched the next generation of E-Jets, the E2s, that will see the intro-duction of new wings, new engines, the latest avionics, and a new cabin interior that will surely change your perception of what E-Jets can do.

The Dubai Air Show is an ideal platform that allows me and members of my team to explain all this in much greater de-tail. Please stop by our display and learn how E-Jets are truly changing the way the world flies.

Middle East & Africa

Royal Air Maroc of Casablanca has leased two E190s from Jetscape in order to evaluate the viability of 100-seat aircraft as part of its ex-pansion strategy. The aircraft are operated by Dutch airline Denim Air. Flights started just five months after the decision was finalized to introduce the E190s. The short-term lease includes pilots, technicians and support.

The E190s have been flying between Casablanca and points in Africa and Europe, including daily nonstop service to Bordeaux and Tou-louse and four weekly flights to Strasbourg. RAM is also operating the E190s to Berlin Tegel, a 1,681 nm route that is four hours flying time.

Since April 2011, Oman Air’s fleet of four E175s has been linking Muscat’s Seeb Air-port with nearly all of the cities in the Gulf. The carrier acquired its E-Jets in order to build frequencies on existing short and me-dium-haul routes and to offer better connec-tions with longer international flights.

Because most of the flights between Muscat and many points in the Gulf are between one and two hours duration, the E175 is ideally suited for off-peak deployment when traffic volumes are lower. Between Muscat and Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Bahrain, at least half of the daily flights are operated with E175s.

Even in the shadow of the mega-hub of Dubai, Oman Air has developed Muscat as a worthy alternative with a network that reaches throughout the Indian subcontinent, to Africa, and to the capitals of Europe and South East Asia.

The E175’s eleven Business Class seats ensure a consistent product standard for premium-fare passengers connecting with airline’s wide-body aircraft that serve long-haul destinations.

Despite the challenging local operating envi-ronment characterized by extreme tempera-tures and short sector lengths, Oman Air’s fleet of E175s achieved an impressive dis-patch rate this summer.

On 15 December, Royal Jordanian will celebrate its 50th anniversary. This year, the airline also reached its seven year anniversary operating Embraer E-Jets. The carrier was one of the first in the Middle East to acquire the airplanes and has been using them ever since to improve schedules and connections from Amman, particularly to the Levant.

Both the 175s and E195s are configured with Crown Class and Eco-nomy Class seats.

Royal Jordanian operates a mixed fleet of 8 E175s and E190s.

Oman Air operates a fleet of four E175s.

Every passenger on the E175 enjoys in-seat entertainment programs.

Oman Air’s E175s are configured with 11 seats in Business Class and 60 in Economy Class.

RAM’s E190s are configured with 12 Business Class and 84 Economy Class seats.

1,000 E-JET DELIVERIES

The 1,000th E-Jet was delivered to Republic Airways of Indianapolis, USA. Republic is flying the milestone Jet, an E190E, on behalf of American Eagle, a subsidiary of American Airlines.

The E2s will introduce new levels of operating efficiency and reduce trip costs by up to 16% compared to current generation E-Jets.

Embraer reached the 1,000 delivery milestone with its family of E-Jets in mid-September. The E190 sports a distinctive 1,000th E-Jet mar-king to the right of the forward door.

Since the first aircraft was delivered in 2004, 85 airlines and 26 leasing companies that have added E-Jets to their fleets. Today, E-Jets are in service with 63 airlines from 46 countries.

In the Middle East, five airlines fly E-Jets – EgyptAir Express, Royal Jordanian, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Nas Air and Oman Air.

At the Paris Air Show last June, Embraer announced the launch of E-Jets E2, the second-generation of the best-selling aircraft family. The three E2s seat between 88 and 132 passengers and build on the heri-tage of the original E-Jet concept but with new Pratt & Whitney gear-turbofan engines, a new high-aspect ratio wing and a new interior.

To date, airlines and leasing companies have placed firm orders, options and signed letters of intent for 315 E2s. The first aircraft, the E190-E2, is scheduled for delivery in 2018.
