OMAHA STORM CHASERS BASEBALL CLUBOFFICIAL GAME INFORMATION
YESTERDAY’S SUSPENSION: The series finale against the Zephyrs reached the bottom of the first inning before being suspended due to rain. It was Omaha’s first suspension of the season, and first suspension or postponement since May 13 (the Storm Chasers had five postponements through their first month of the year, but none in the last month until yesterday).
I-80 RIVALRY AT WERNER PARK: In the first four years at Werner Park, the Storm Chasers and I-Cubs have split the 32 meetings at 16-16 (2014: 5-3, 2013: 3-5, 2012: 4-4, 2011: 4-4). Iowa and Memphis are the only two American Conference teams without a losing record at Werner Park (the Redbirds are 18-18). Overall in the last four seasons, the Storm Chasers only have a 27-36 record against the Cubs and have lost the season series three out of four years.
DIVISION WOES: Omaha has a record of 6-10 against division foes in 2015, and 3-5 at Werner Park, which is the fewest division wins of any team in the American Conference North.
TRIPLE STAT THREAT: Whit Merrifield ranks in the top ten in the Pacific Coast League in hits with the fifth most at 70 (actually has 71 with one yesterday), the fourth most runs at 43 and tied for sixth most stolen bases with 13 (actually has 14 with one yesterday). Merrifield is the only PCL player that ranks in the top ten in each. In June, he leads Omaha with 17 hits, 10 runs and is tied with Cheslor Cuthbert for most extra-base hits at six (second most steals at four).
A SNEAKY JUNE: With their fourth game this month with three or more steals Saturday, after having just three total games with three or more steals during the first two months of the season, the Storm Chasers upped their Pacific Coast League-leading steals total to 19 this month (had 22 steals all of last month). The four steals on Saturday also tied a season high for Omaha.
GOOD STARTS: Dating back to May 30, Storm Chasers starters have not allowed more than three earned runs in 13 of the 14 games (Andy Ferguson on June 2 allowed five earned runs). The stretch has lowered Omaha’s starter pitching ERA from 5.33 ERA on May 30 to 4.77 ERA.
ORLANDO MAGIC AT HOME: Paulo Orlando has only played in four home games out of his 13 with Omaha, but in those four games he has eight hits and is batting .471 (8-for-17).
RB-EIBNER: Brett Eibner has 30 RBI in his 34 games with Omaha, after having only 32 RBI in 82 games with the Storm Chasers last season (including eight games in the 2014 Pacific Coast League Playoffs). Eibner has the fewest games (34) in Triple-A among players with 30+ RBI.
SIERRA HEATING UP: In his first six games back from injury, Moises Sierra batted .190 (4-for-21) with five steals, but in his last five games he is batting .409 (9-for-22) with no steals.
STRONG UP NORTH: There are seven teams in the Pacific Coast League with 32 or more wins, and three of the teams are in the American Conference North (including Iowa and Omaha). Those seven teams are the only teams in the PCL with a record above .500 so far this season.
