1 Introduction
1.1 Parameter Classification
The GSM and GPRS parameters are classified into three categories:
Network: Customer Design Engineering parameters also called network
parameters. A CDE Parameter can be specific for a customer and is
valid for the complete network. There are BSC, BTS, MFS and OMC
CDE parameters.
Site: Customer Application Engineering parameter also called site
parameter. The Value of a CAE parameter is different from an instance to
another and changeable from some way (most often them from the OMC).
The parameter can be instantiated per BSC, MFS, cell, TRX...
System: ConStanT Parameter also called system parameters. They can
not or shall not be modified. Most of them are hard coded in the system
or defined in configuration files.
1.2 Parameter Description
To each parameter are associated the following characteristics:
Logical Parameter Name: Mnemonic conventionally used in Alcatel
documentation.
Definition: definition/purpose of the parameter.
Coding rules:, Rules of coding, when necessary.
Mandatory rules: Mandatory relationships or inter-dependence of some
data.
Recommended rules: Recommended relationships or inter-dependence
of some data.
Feature: Indicates to which feature the parameter is linked.
Category: Category into which the parameter is classified.
Instance: Possible instance of the parameter.
Value
Min/Max values: Possible range of the parameter values.
Default value: Parameter value in release B7.1 for a genericconfiguration.
Modifiable: Indicates if the parameter is modifiable at the OMC-R.
Parameter Access: Indicates where the parameter is accessible at the
OMC-R.
External Comments: Specific information, when necessary, related
to the parameter.
