Designed and constructed by OMSE in partnership with Turkish firm Avitas, the Supercar Lites first joined Red Bull Global Rallycross as a support series in 2013 and are now raced around the world. The tightly controlled spec vehicles produce about

half the power of a Supercar while offering similar handling characteristics to the top-class vehicles. This manageable package fosters driver development, maximizing learning opportunities while minimizing production and maintenance cost.

Cultivating future stars is a core value for OMSE and its driver roster has become increasingly focused on younger drivers in recent years. In the 2015 season, the youngest championship contender on the roster is just 16 – barely old enough to drive a car on the street. OMSE is the only racing organization in the world to campaign full seasons in Supercars and Lites in both World RX and Red Bull GRC, while also fielding a top-tier national effort in Sweden.

» Following a successful run on Pikes Peak in 2009, the team brought two-time World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm back to America for the first full season of Global Rallycross in 2011.

» Motocross superstar Brian Deegan debuted in rallycross behind the wheel of an OMSE Ford Fiesta.

» Tanner Foust joined OMSE in 2011 to become the first American ever to win a European Rallycross Championship event.

» WRC favorite Gigi Galli wowed the crowd at the 2014 FIA World RX of Italy at the Franciacorta Circuit, near his hometown. He finished off the podium but impressed with his speed and big air.

» British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan returned to his native England for a stint behind the wheel of an OMSE Ford Fiesta at the Lydden Hill Racetrack in 2014 and finished third.

» Ex-Formula One driver Scott Speed joined the team in 2013 and won his debut – at Foz do Iguassu, Brazil – and led an X Games podium sweep for Olsbergs MSE and Ford.

» Brazilian Nelson Piquet Jr. moved to Olsbergs MSE after a disappointing first season in GRC with a Mitsubishi rallycross car that saw him rarely contend for a spot in a main event. He joined the SH Racing team – and technical partner OMSE – in 2014 and was an immediate threat for the title, taking four podiums in 10 starts.

» Finn Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen won the 2013 GRC title with OMSE.

» Swedish rally star Patrik Sandell drove for OMSE in the United States for two years with the title support from Ford and, in 2014, major motorsport player Lowe’s. He scored his first outright race win for the team in 2014.

» Motorsport Hall of Famer Ricky Johnson joined OMSE for X Games in 2014 as a guest driver. The veteran, who has raced in motocross, trucks and NASCAR, was impressed by the speed and handling of the OMSE car.

2013X Games goes global and OMSE and Ford earn their second

podium sweep together at the series opener. Former Formula One driver Scott Speed takes the win in the 2012-spec Ford

Fiesta, followed by young Finn Toomas Heikkinen and Swede Patrik Sandell, both driving the latest Fiesta model for Ford.

2012With the blessing of Ford, OMSE develops a top-spec rallycross

car for Dodge to campaign in the U.S. Global Rallycross Championship with driver Travis Pastrana. Ford and Dodge

both hope to build an American rivalry in the U.S. series. OMSE moves the project from concept to competition in a record

three months. Pastrana earns a podium at his first race.

1. PEAK PERFORMANCEIn support of global launch activities surrounding the Ford Fiesta, Olsbergs MSE partnered with Ford for a campaign on the famed Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. OMSE designed and built a pair of heavily modified, 900-horsepower Ford Fiesta cars for the project, which Ford supported with a considerable promotional push – including a remake of the classic “Climb Dance” short film starring team driver and two-time World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm. It was a first motorsports outing for the Fiesta in the United States and it was a resounding success: the car was a contender in its U.S. debut and Grönholm finished second overall. The partnership would later grow to include X Games and rallycross efforts in the United States.

2. NEW PLATFORM IN 90 DAySWhen U.S. auto manufacturer Chrysler was considering an entrée into rallycross in support of their new Dodge Dart launch, they turned to OMSE with a three-month turnaround and asked what could be done to turn their new sedan into a rallycross machine. OMSE agreed to the project, with the blessing of partner Ford, and worked closely with Chrysler’s U.S. engineers to accelerate development. The team produced a winning car for Travis Pastrana to drive in the 2012 and 2013 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship seasons. Pastrana drove the new Dodge Dart rallycross car to a podium at its first race.

1. KEN BLOCK DRIvES A FORDGymkhana superstar Ken Block made the switch from Subaru to Ford with an OMSE built Ford Fiesta he campaigned in rally, rallycross and gymkhana competition. The car also starred in Block’s Gymkhana THREE video project, which has racked up more than 59 million views on YouTube since its 2010 launch. OMSE now manages a display program for the car, and its familiar dripping paint livery still draws crowds.

2. DISPLAy CAR FOR MOTEGI RACING Wheel company Motegi Racing needed a show car that would turn heads while still being easy to maintain and comfortable to drive on the street. They approached OMSE to build a rallycross-inspired

vehicle based on the current competition model campaigned by sponsored drivers Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan. The resulting street-legal show car was used for multiple promotional campaigns including an appearance at SEMA, and a livery design contest.

3. DETROIT X GAMES BID When the city of Detroit announced that it planned to bid for the X Games, Olsbergs MSE partner Ford supported the project with a contribution to the ‘Game On’ YouTube video featuring a sliding, tire-smoking OMSE Ford Fiesta stunting through the urban landscape. CEO Andreas Eriksson handled the driving, while team technicians ensured the car ran strong, take after take.

2013Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen wins the driver’s title in Global Rallycross while OMSE teammate Tanner Foust finishes in the runner-up position.

Olsbergs MSE brings success to its partners. Major global brands including Ford, Red Bull, and Best Buy, as well as development partners Motegi Wheels, Mountune Performance, Sparco and Alcon, have all chosen the winning Olsbergs MSE to achieve their motorsport objectives.

2014A steady season of podiums and victories, including 18-year-old Reinis

Nitiss becoming the youngest-ever World RX driver to score an outright win in the championship, brings OMSE its first FIA World Championship as winners of the teams’ title. In the United States, Joni Wiman takes the drivers’ title in his debut GRC season in the top class, and Ford wins the

manufacturer’s championship title for the fourth year in a row.

Modern rallycross is inspired by the longstanding European tradition, which began in February, 1967, with a made-for-TV short-course variation on traditional rally competition.

Described as “action sport, with a roll cage,” the rapidly growing sport is a blend of circuit racing, off-road racing and rally competition. It promises intense crowd-pleasing action in a fan-friendly track environment. As many as 10 drivers line up to start at once, piloting high-horsepower compact cars through race traffic over a challenging short course that features jumps, unbanked turns, hills and transitions between pavement and gravel.

Events are held on a mix of purpose-built dirt and tarmac tracks, as well as on temporary circuits that are designed and built for each race.

The incredible diversity of past venues speaks the potential of the sport to bring motorsport to eager audiences around the world. In recent years, Olsbergs MSE has competed at a century-old logging mill in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, in the sport’s spiritual homeland of Lydden Hill in southeast England, at the famed Hockenheimring, and on the Las Vegas strip.
