Health Ministry

The Shingles Vaccine: one out of three people 60 years old and older get shingles. What is Shingles? It is a disease that causes a painful blistering rash. One in five people with shingles will have severe long term pain after the rash heals. Shingles is more common and more serious in older adults. Nearly 1 million Americans get shingles every year and about half of them are over 60. The risk of shingles and long term pain from shingles can be reduced by a new vaccine. This is recommended for those over 60/ In a clinical trial the vaccine prevented long term pain in two our of tree people and prevented the disease in about half of them . Reduce your risk of shingles. Get Vaccinated. For more info call your doctor. Psalm 118:1 “Give thanks to the Lord who is good. Whose love endures forever.”

Parents God’s will is that your child be happy fulfilled and live a life that will make the most of his or her talents. Isn’t that what you want, too? Talk to your child about Church Vocations.

One thing is certain: When the time has come nothing which is man made will subsist. One day all human accomplishments will be reduced to a pile of ashes. But every single child to whom a woman has given birth will live forever for he has been given an immortal soul made to God’s image and likeness.

He has a job that puts him in touch with dozens of interesting people each week: He similes over coffee while a 95 year old woman reminisces about her first date in 1920; he discusses Marxism with a world class philosopher after a lecture. Each day when he wakes he knows his work will make a difference. People knock on his door when they learn their spouses are sick even dying; when they don’t have the money to buy winter coats for their children; or when their parents have kicked them out of the house. He does his best to do something for them all, but he gets back even more. This is not a thankless job. Real appreciation is expressed in hugs, smiles and simple thank yous. His co-workers are well trained and knowledgeable in their fields. And they are supportive never competitive. Sometimes they cry with him. But they are always caring. He hadn’t know what a flair he had for public speaking; now after every talk there are pats on the back,. He Hadn’t known how much he liked children. This is not a dead end job. He is a priest. Does his job sound good to you? Serra
