This chapter discusses when Oliver officially becomes in undertaker’s assistant. During the funerals Oliver notes that everyone is different when a family member dies. He notes that people crying in a church recovers faster, some wives when her husband dies are quiet.

He mentions that is surprised by the way in which people get control your pain. But in the other hand Noah is jealous because this out while in the funerals, he must it be in the shop.

Before anyone was awake, Oliver left the house. The name London gave the boy an a idea, he jumped to his feet and walked forward again.

After four miles he stopped to think how far he would to walk. He had a Piece of bread, a rough shirt, two pairs of socks and a penny. He walked thirty two miles in the next two days and his legs

were so weak that they shook beneath him.

AFTER A LONG JOURNEY, AN OLD WOMAN AND A GATE- KEEPER WERE KIND TO FEED HIM. THEY HELPED HIM FOR AVOID THE DIED LIKE HIS MOTHER. HE WAITED OUTSIDE THE PUBS.

Oliver finally reached the little town of barnet, just outside London. He was too tired, So He noticed that a boy crossed the road to help him again. Oliver was hurt and the boy went with him to eat some food.

The boy helped Oliver. They went to a pub where food and beer were ofreced to Oliver, who was so hungry and tired.

His new friend asked him if he was going to London. Oliver answered he wasn’t. He asked him if he had gotten some place to live. Oliver answered he hadn’t. He also asked him if he had some money. Oliver answered he hadn’t.

The strange boy told Oliver that he had gotten to be in London that night; he wanted to take Oliver with him to a very old gentleman, who would gave them a place to sleep.

Oliver and his new friend talked for a long time.

The strange boy was called “The Artful Dodger”: “Artful”because he was very clever at getting what he wanted, “Dodger” because he was very good at not getting caught.

Oliver felt doubtful about his new friend’s character . However he was excited about meeting the kind old gentleman in London.
