Architectural Work Experience -

Mitchell Evans LLP2014 - 2015

Architectural assistant, main job roles included designing proposals for planning applications and amending existing planning or construction drawings before tender issue. This has allowed me to not only develop my skills in programmes such as photoshop and autoCAD but also to gain an understanding in a range of areas to begin to appreciate what working in the architectural industry entails, this is also attributed to working with fully qualified architects and technicians as part of a design team.

David Stallwood Building Services Limited - June 2015 - September 2015

Experience of working on a variety of construction projects over the summer of 2015. Giving me a understanding of materials, site safety and the build up of different construction details and components.

The experience has also introduced me to the different stages of a project, what each one entails and the time taken to turnover a project for example the time between surveying and start of construction. I have also appreciated the importance of site management, in terms of getting sub contractors and materials to site on time to allow the smooth running of a project and for deadlines to be effectively met. Other Work Experience -

Sales assistant Debenhams 2010 – 2013

Sales assistant - Clinton Cards December 2009

Volunteering and Personal Projects -

Community Sports Leadership Award -2010

Providing an introduction into leading groups and classes in both sporting and recreational activities, presenting the opportunity to train and give voluntary assistance alongside qualified teachers and coaches.

Part of this course gave me the opportunity to plan and teach a wide range of P.E lessons to Year 5 and 6 pupils at Bushy Hill Primary School.

Radio Show 2013 - 2014 -

Plymouth University student radio show discussing, analysing and reacting to the prior weekends football games across Europe, the major stories that have developed and looking forward to the following weeks fixtures.

I adopted the role of not only as a presenter of the show, but also acting as the main promoter coming up with ways to attract listeners, and means of creating discussion and debate among both listeners and presenters.

Futsal - 2011 - 2014 -

Whilst at University, I began playing futsal as an extra curricular activity. I set up my own team in 2011undertaking the responsibility of recruiting players, arranging fixture, collecting match fees and ensuring the arrival of the team to the venue on time.

During this time, the team won a league title in an unbeaten season and achieved successive tournament semi finals. Personally I was called up to train with the University team.

Golf -

I have been a member of Guildford Golf club since 2005, representing the junior section of the club captaining the side on a number of occasions. As an adult member of the club I have managed to compete in a number of events that have allowed me to meet new members and gain contacts throughout the club.

Sandford House (Land to the Rear)

Brief: Seeking planning approval for a new 3 bedroom dwelling to the rear of existing dwelling. Designed to sympathise with surrounding context and buildings.

Creating a 3-d computer model investigating how the proposal sits within thewider context. Focusing on how intended viewpoints from the master bedroom do not effect the privacy of the neighbours for planning consideration.

Using this model as a base to create exterior perspectives.

Venturi & Rauch1976Franklin court - Simplification and amplification:

A memorial to the founding father, Benjamin Franklin, on the site of his previous home and printing store in Philadelphia, USA.

City dwellers use its tranquil setting removed from the busy adjacent Market street to gather. Whether that be by eating lunch, taking a coffee break from work or simply using it as a space to cut through to either Market or Chestnut street.

The consideration by Venturi and Rauch, of the overall experience of the space and how it would be used socially. Contribute greatly to its success.

Sectional study of Franklin Court, with ghost structure as central focus.

Inspired by the work of Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield the drawing showsthe different ways the space is used throughout the day by using remnants of inhabitation that are subtly hidden within the image, in order to not over power the architectural intent.

Brief - To produce a model with a focus on the ‘cultural currency’ of Franklin court. These pieces of work will communicate the content of the building, the architects intentions and it’s use in modern society.

Congregational building Study - Franklin Court -

The model focuses on the elements that create an aesthetic that allows the visitor to use their perception to understand what the spaces were like in Benjamin Franklins era. The site is found in the centre of a bustling area of Philadelphia, wrestling to define itself. To show this I have taken the outlines of the surrounding structures and implemented them as silhouettes towering over the court. Scale 1:100

A congregational Building -The Barbican CentreLondonBrief - To design a congregational building on the edges of the Barbican with rooms that can accomodate a range of functions and events, for both day and night use. A benefit to the community it serves.

The site holds great potential socially, an existing play area sits below a housing block and looks onto a park offering views towards the City of London.
