The Fiddlers will perform an afternoon concert, along with Oawa Valley Hall of Fame fiddler, singer, step-dancer Kelli Troier, in memory of John Wargo, who passed last October. John Wargo was a great friend and inspiration to all who knew him. Although he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the music we play. The concert will be from 2:00 – 4:30pm. Also included in the day will be a fiddle work- shop with Kelli at 5:00pm. The Old Time Fiddlers have been performing in the northeast PA area for the past 37 years with the goal of keeping traditional music alive. Currently there are 23 members that play a variety of in- struments with the main focus on the fiddle. They are a non-profit 501-c3 organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional music and dance through performance and educa- tion. Kelli Troier’s music developed from deep and lasting Scoish and French roots, and together with other influences of contemporary and traditional music, throughout the Oawa Valley, Kelli shaped her performing, teaching and record- ing career. Her talents carry her to stages across North America, Eu- rope, the Middle East, and the Far North and she brings her crisp fid- dling, Angelic voice and fiery step- dance to all of her performances. A National Fiddling Day in Canada has been recognized by the pass- ing of Bill S-218. Kelli was invited to speak & demonstrate in support of this Bill at the Senate and again for the Standing Commiee of Ca- nadian Heritage. More highlights for Kelli include performing for Sir Sean Connery’s “Dressed to Kilt” several times in NYC and for his private 80th birthday party in the Bahamas. She has been nominated three times for Fiddle Player of the Year by the Canadian Country Music Association. Kelli has been inducted into the Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame as well as the Oawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame. David Paul Vautrinot, 89, Clifford Twp., passed away Sunday at Geisinger Commu- nity Medical Center with his wife, Mary Theresa Vautrinot, by his side. They celebrated 15 years of marriage on May 7. Born in Massachuses, son of the late Theodore Antone and Alice Carpenter Vautrinot, Dave dedicated his life to the military. As a career military man, he served in the Coast Guard, Navy, Army and Air Force, completing his military career in the Air Force. Following his military ca- reer, Dave was employed by Boeing Co. and Bell Helicopter Co. He enjoyed hockey, golfing, being outdoors, music, danc- ing and the performing arts. Dave dearly loved his dogs, Cory, Lady and Jolie. Dave was a loving and caring hus- band and very devoted to his wife. His selfless acts and gen- tle nature will be remembered by all those lives he touched. Mary Theresa would like to express a most sincere and heartfelt thank you to the en- tire staff at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center for the care given to Dave during the past two and a half years. In addi- tion, a special thank you to the team of caregivers at Geisinger Community Medical Center, where Dave spent his last day on this Earth. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Vautrinot Winthrop; and brothers, Theo- dore, Allyn, Brad and Donald Vautrinot. Vivian Mary Griffin Peckville Vivian Mary Griffin, 79, of Peckville, passed away Sun- day, Aug. 28, 2016, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore, after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Kenneth J. Griffin of Peckville. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniver- sary in May. Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late An- drea and Mary (Martinelli) Guiducci. A 1954 graduate of Blakely High School, as well as a graduate of Madame Fen- wick Beauty School, she was proprietor of Vivian’s Beauty Salon for close to 60 years. While raising her children, Vivian volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, and was active in the PTA. Vivian was also a member of Sacred Heart of Je- sus Church, Peckville. Vivian will be remembered as a sweet, gentle, kind wom- an liked by all, loved by many. Her family and lifelong friends meant the world to her. She loved being a wife, mother, sister, Grandma Bucky, Nona Vivi, aunt and best friend. She enjoyed yearly trips to the Florida Keys, as well as trips to NYC to see operas at the MET. Locally, she was a proud supporter of Blakely and Val- ley View High School foot- ball, and was a member of the Valley View Football Booster Club. She is also survived by daughter, Sharon Clark and husband, Frank, Lehigh Val- ley; son, James Griffin and wife, Barbie, Forest City; brother, Mariano Guiducci of Skillman, N.J.; grandchildren, Colleen Griffin, Kelly and husband, Kyle Holgate; Jared Griffin, Kailyn and Frankie Clark and Kara and Emily Zerby; and many nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Po- stown High School. Karen was a fun loving person who loved life, playing cards, and cooking. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was so proud of her son, Ryan, who is a student at Marywood University. Bartholomay, 89, of Forest City, died Wednesday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the widow of Walter C. Bartholomay, who died July 8, 2012. Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Edison Morgan and Isabelle Pauline Paynter Giles, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Carbondale, where she sung in the choir, and was a member of its Triple M Club and Women’s Society. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and Lackawanna Business College, Scranton. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a teller in sev- eral Carbondale area banks. She was a former Girl Scout Brownie Troop Leader in Carbondale. She was a very avid reader. Surviving are two daughters: Lynn DeSanto and husband Dr. Jerry, Waverly; Susan Falbo and husband Sam, Carbondale; 7 grandchildren: Dr. Erica Galioto, Rebecca DeSanto, Jeffery DeSanto and Ay. David Paul Vautrinot, 89, Clifford Twp., passed away Sunday at Geisinger Commu-nity Medical Center with his wife, Mary Theresa Vautrinot, by his side. They celebrated 15 years of marriage on May 7.

of Forest City, died Wednesday at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the widow of Walter C. Bartholomay, who died July 8, 2012.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Edison Morgan and Isabelle Pauline Paynter Giles, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Carbondale, where she sung in the choir, and was a member of its Triple M Club and Women’s Society. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and Lackawanna Business College, Scranton. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a teller in sev-eral Carbondale area banks. She was a former Girl Scout Brownie Troop Leader in Carbondale. She was a very avid reader.

Surviving are two daughters: Lynn DeSanto and husband Dr. Jerry, Waverly; Susan Falbo and husband Sam, Carbondale; 7 grandchildren: Dr. Erica Galioto, Rebecca DeSanto, Jeffery DeSanto and Atty. Jay DeSanto and Sam Falbo, Mario Falbo and Nicole Shifler; and 2 great grandchildren: Ben Galioto and Paige Galioto.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Jean Bar-tholomay; and a sister: Helen Fredrickson.

The funeral was Saturday, Sep-tember 3 with services in the First United Methodist Church, 20 North Church Street, Carbondale, by the Rev. Donald Perry, Pastor. Interment, Union Dale Cemetery.

Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial do-nations may be made to DeSanto/Falbo Scholarship Fund c/o the University of Scranton Advance-ment Office, 800 Linden St, Scran-ton, PA 18510 to support deserv-ing students studying nursing at the university. The fund was established to honor the memory of Marjorie’s late daughter, Nancy.

of Way Lake Road, Thompson, Pa. passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, after a traffic accident.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Sharon Glover.

Christian is survived by his parents, Andrew and Rebecca (Glover) Perrington; grand-parents, William and Veronica Perrington; and Donald Glov-er; great-grandparents Richard and Gladys Klein; two sisters, Cassandra Glover and Cait-lyn Perrington; stepbrother, Cayden Morrison; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was attending Susque-hanna Community High School and was active in base-ball, wrestling and football. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and derby cars.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m. at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Susquehanna, with the Rev. David Cramer officiating.

State Rep. Sandra Major, (R, Susq. Wayne) says that if you have questions about Medi-care and how it works, a semi-nar on the program will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, from 10 AM to noon at Montrose VFW, 16972 Route 706, Mon-trose.
