A shoemaker workshop. Up to the 1940’s people had their shoes made by a shoemaker since there were no shops. On the wall you can see some models they used to make shoes. You had very little choice for styles. They date back to 1922. Some weeks ago we visited a small old working tools museum in a nearby village, Tortorici, 22 Kms away from Capo d’Orlando. Let’s see together. The small iron tablet was the one they used to work on. When the weather was fine they used to work outside.

In the past some utensils such as saucepans fryingpans, amphoras and so on, were made of coppe. Since this metal was bad for one’s health, every copper item, used for cooking, needed to be covered with tin. So there were tinsmiths.

They used to make other items as well, such as lamps, braziers, candlesticks and so on.
