Relihan v today began doubling the fine for the offense. • He fined two motorists who pleaded guilty of driving with in- sufficient .lights $10 each, and said: "Headlights are going to cost money from now on. One-eyed cars these nights are out. When you see one you think a motor- cycle is coming at you. You get hit and end up in the hospital." Thomas G. Kozial, 21, of 4 Dick- inson Street, paid the .fine, but Joseph Charles Anderson, 21, of 67 Hudson Street, Johnson City, hesitated. "I haven't got any money," he said. "How can you buy gas and oil?" asked the judge. "It ain't easy," replied the yqung motorist, whose wife was waiting in the doorway. "Call somebody on the phone - and get the money," directed the judge. "I can get it in a half hour," Baid Mr. Anderson. "I'll sell my tires." "How much could you get for the car, $15?" asked the judge. "No, more than that," said the defendant. Judge Relihan then gave the motorist until 10 o'clock to sell his tires and raise the money. ^ Mr. Anderson reappeared later In the morning. He said he had not been successful. The judge gave him until Monday to raise the fine. One-Light Drivers Get Double Fine Characterizing motorists who

drive with one headlight as "dangerous," City Judge Walter J. Relihan vtoday began doubling the fine for the offense. •

He fined two motorists who pleaded guilty of driving with insufficient .lights $10 each, and said:

"Headlights are going to cost money from now on. One-eyed cars these nights are out. When you see one you think a motorcycle is coming at you. You get hit and end up in the hospital."

Thomas G. Kozial, 21, of 4 Dickinson Street, paid the .fine, but Joseph Charles Anderson, 21, of 67 Hudson Street, Johnson City, hesitated.

"I haven't got any money," he said.

"How can you buy gas and oil?" asked the judge.

"It ain't easy," replied the yqung motorist, whose wife was waiting in the doorway.

"Call somebody on the phone - and get the money," directed

the judge. "I can get it in a half hour,"

Baid Mr. Anderson. "I'll sell my tires."

"How much could you get for the car, $15?" asked the judge.

"No, more than that," said the defendant.

Judge Relihan then gave the motorist until 10 o'clock to sell his tires and raise the money. ^ Mr. Anderson reappeared

later In the morning. He said he had not been successful. The judge gave him until Monday to raise the fine.

New Prudential Office Opened

Official opening of Prudential Insurance Company's Endicott dictrict office was marked this afternoon by a reception and open house at 306 East Main Street, the company's Endicott headquarters.

Some 100 Endicott business and civic leaders were invited. The Western Broome County office was elevated from branch to district status last September. The move reflected increased business in the area and confidence in continued growth, a spokesman said.

Prudential executives attended today's affair. Robert J. Scales is manager of the Endlcot district office which employs six staff managers and 33 agents.
