This season includes a wonderful mixture of theatre, dance, music, family activities, and workshops. If new writing is your thing then take a look at the two performances from The Deck Theatre Company, Balancing Act’s Spare Prick or our monthly Theatre Scratch Nights. Dance too plays a large part in the programme with E-Motion and the Family Dance Experience Week run by Dancin’ Oxford. Music this season includes Oxford based singer-songwriter James Bell, the return of Ran Kan Kan and we have Gesamtkunstwerk Memetics #1 which will include improvised music as well as comedy, visual art and poetry. July to October also hosts various other events such as C R E AT E Oxford, Literary Dinners, talks and workshops for Alice’s Day and Flintlock Theatre’s adaptation of The Government Inspector.

As usual, our regular classes continue with a July to August timetable included and our Tuesdays at the Old Fire Station are growing ever more popular with six regular performances a month. If you haven’t made it to one yet, you’ve got plenty to choose from!

In other news, Shop at the Old Fire Station is now online so you can shop from the comfort of your sofa or on the move. We also recommend you keep your eyes out for one of our most recent projects with Crisis Skylight, The PULSE; a dance, music and poetry project that took place across our building in April.

What a load of Nonsense! Saturday 6 July, 10.15am, 11am and 11.45am

As part of Alice’s Day, we play host to a series of drop in talks about “nonsense”. Find out more about nonsense literature, Lewis Carroll’s mastery of the genre and how others in Oxford and beyond have interpreted it.

The Royal Air Force Theatrical Association presents

This ever growing collection of items from wonderfully talented individuals includes handmade ceramics, jewellery, and cards as well as high quality contemporary art work and prints.

Yet this is no ordinary gift shop or art gallery. Oh no… When making a purchase you are not only supporting the artist or designer, but our organisation and charity, Arts at the Old Fire Station as a whole. We provide opportunities for artists from all practices (craft, theatre, music, dance and visual arts) to experiment, try out new work, and reach their potential in a supportive environment. We also work closely with the charity, Crisis, to support homeless people and help them into training and work.
