Born March 13, 1860, In Leipsic, Ohio Parents died when he was 3 and was raised by his
neighbor He was teacher in Ohio and had three children from his
first wife. He Studied Law and passed his bar exam in 1880 His first wife died and remarried and had 3 more children He moved to Indian Territory in 1901 and was lawyer for
the Creek Tribe. Helped with try to help establish the State of Sequoyah. Help organize the constitutional convention for a
Oklahoma as a single state. Won the Democratic nomination and was elected governor Served on term ending in 1911 He died in 1933 of a stroke.
