• On June 19, 2014 the Chamber of Commerce of Okeechobee County will hold its Quarterly Business Exchange Luncheon from 11:45 AM- 1:00 PM at Indian River State College. Our Speaker Rosie Taylor is an online marketing nerd and founder of Rosiemedia, a firm that helps organizations create a well-rounded online presence for steady growth. Rosie’s uses expressive ideas backed by technical know-how to create WordPress websites and inbound marketing strategies for organizations ready to expand. Previously she worked at the City of Aventura as a Communications Specialist and helped them become one of the first cities to use social media in Miami Dade County, Florida. Rosie holds a bachelor’s degree in Business & Information Systems and CIW Certification as a Webmaster. She presents live workshops all over South Florida and is an active SCORE volunteer. In her spare time, she breaks violin strings while learning how to play it.

• You’re invited to the 5th Annual State of the Region on June 20, 2014. The purpose of the Leadership Okeechobee Program is to cultivate leadership through edu-cation, exposure to the community, and interaction between class members. Our ultimate goal is to prepare students for a personal journey along the won-derful and rewarding path to community service. The following are our pro-gram objectives: To prepare future/potential leaders to meet the challenges ahead for Okeechobee; You will explore critical issues via a series of seminars and related activities; You will interact with key decision-makers, local leaders and representatives of local government to gain a better understanding of the forces which impact your community as a whole. The key to preserving and enhancing the quality of life is a well-informed citizen.
