Oliver James Associates has been a specialist recruitment partner to the Financial Services sector since 2002. We help organisations to attract the most suitable talent in the market instead of being limited to a list of candidates that are actively seeking jobs. While our business was initially established as a niche supplier of skilled professionals to the Insurance and Asset Management industries within the UK, we have grown organically and consistently, across the broader �nancial services sector. More speci�cally, over the past two years we have further developed our international presence into Switzerland, Germany, Benelux and Asia.

Having obtained our Swiss license in 2010, we have successfully established ourselves as a leading specialist in the areas of Actuarial, Risk and Compliance recruitment within Switzerland, on both a permanent and contract basis. Our senior consultants are specialists within their vertical markets and excel at �nding talented individuals for challenging roles. They operate with absolute discretion, integrity and professionalism. We entered the Swiss market in response to two main areas of weakness within the �nancial services recruitment sector:

1. Low employment turnover results in a lack of talent available for mid-senior level roles;2. The supply gap between the top-end reach of most contingency recruitment �rms and the bottom-end reach of most search �rms results in poor quality of service being delivered in the SFr 120,000-SFr 200,000 salary range.

Our Research team has mapped out the entire Swiss market, enabling us to present the highest calibre local talent for our clients;2. Client focus: building value-added relationships with a handful of carefully selected Financial Services providers and ring-fencing the rest of the market as a source of candidates so that our clients have access to key talent from their key competitors;3. Over the past �ve years, Oliver James Associates has established Europe’s leading Actuarial team – currently a team of 17 Senior Consultants. Understanding Actuaries and the insurance markets very well, we have built a vast network throughout the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Asia and Switzerland.

We invest 100% of our time, energy and resources in developing a pool of active and passive Swiss Actuarial candidates. In Switzerland, our German-speaking consultants have mapped out over 1800 local candidates to add to our global database and we now have an extensive understanding of this extremely candidate short market. We are now one of the few genuine leaders in the actuarial recruitment space and during 2010/2011 we have successfully reacted to the high-demand for nearly/newly quali�ed candidates due to the new Solvency II/SST regulations. We have managed this by tapping into our passive local candidate base and international Actuarial network.

We use proactive search methodologies and o�er a bespoke recruitment solution on a contingency, sole agency or retained search basis to suit your needs. Our candidates are from a pure Life or Non-Life background with at least 3 years’ experience. They are Swiss and German natives, as well as locally based international candidates. We recruit for a variety of technical and managerial roles (please see the structure chart on page 2 for details).

Risk Management & Quant

Oliver James Associates places mid-senior level professionals in all areas of Risk Management, including Market, Investment, Operational, Credit and Counterparty Risk teams. This area also includes Quantitative professionals who are either PhD or Masters Graduates with experience in one or more of the following domains: Quant Analysis, Research, Modelling and Development.

Our candidates have at least 3 years’ experience within the Investment Banking, Private Banking, Asset Management or Alternative Investments space. Our client base ranges from global banks to boutique asset managers and regulatory bodies.

We work on assignments in the Zurich and Geneva regions. While we mainly focus on sourcing talent that is based in Switzerland, due to Oliver James Associates’ international reach, we can o�er our clients access to our network of candidates in the UK, Benelux, Germany and Asia.

The Compliance team at Oliver James Associates covers Private Banking, Asset Management, Investment Banking and Insurance. We are able to provide mid-senior level professionals who have gained the majority of their experience in Switzerland and, therefore, have extensive knowledge of local regulations. Hot areas are: Financial Crime, Cross Border, Regulatory, Investment & Product Compliance and Due Diligence.

Many of our Private Banking clients are under increasing pressure to cope with regulatory changes and prefer candidates that have a Legal education or, in some cases, have been admitted to the Bar. Our European clients expect us to deliver interim solutions for a myriad of scenarios requiring a �xed period of support.
