Ohio High Top 200STORY BY ER IC FRANTZ

t's here. And it's bigger and better than ever - literally. The annual Ohio High Top 100 has officially been

replaced by the Ohio High Top 200. We’ve doubled it forone simple reason…there’s enough talent in Ohio towarrant it.Last year, 170 Ohio seniors earned D-I scholarships.

This year over 120 already have offers. It’s not a stretch to con-sider this one of Ohio’s deepest high school football seasonsever in regards to individual ability. And that talent is reflected in the Top 200 – our annual

attempt to tab the state’s top college prospects.Just how deep is the Class of 2011 in Ohio? The first six mem-

bers of our list – in their own right – could make an argumentthat they deserve to be No. 1. And all the arguments would bestrong. Any other year, each would probably own the top spot.Besides that, the lists of colleges that are offering Ohio kids

and the amount of offers their racking up are impressive.Obviously Midwest powers Ohio State, Penn State and Notre

Dame have logged many miles on Ohio freeways. So toothough have coaches from Florida, Alabama, Georgia, USC,UCLA, Nebraska, Arizona, Oregon, LSU, Boise State, Oklahoma,

Iowa, North Carolina, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin,Iowa, West Virginia, Stanford, Boston College, Colorado,California, Tennessee…you get the picture. Those schools – andseveral others – have offered Ohio kids. And what we’re offering here is a look at which players col-

leges are – and you should – look at this fall. This is a big-time football state. This is a big-time year. And

this is a big-time list.And who heads it?...Centerville two-way lineman Michael

Bennett.Bennett recently committed to Ohio State as a defensive line

prospect and also had offers from Florida, Alabama, Oklahomaand Notre Dame.“That boy is a monster,” Springfield LB Trey DePriest said of

Bennett. “He ate our line up and he was in my face a lot. He’sgot it.”DePriest has it too.The senior is No. 6 on our list, despite having offers from

Ohio State, Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame and Oklahoma - too. That’s how deep this senior class is.It’s one to remember. -- OOHH

Kurelic’s Take: Hayes started a couple games hisfreshman year before becoming a full-time starter the next

season. Hayes had a huge sophomore season as he made 144tackles including eight sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Hayes is aterrific athlete in a big body. He averaged 15 points and eightrebounds per game in basketball his sophomore season and hasrun the 100 meter dash in 11.2 seconds in track. Hayes had earlyoffers from Ohio State and Illinois before committing to theBuckeyes on Aug. 31 of 2009. Hayes has a 3.3 GPA.Porter’s Take: In most years, Hayes would be the No. 1 player

in Ohio. He fits the prototype for an NFL defensive end or maybe

even a defensive tackle depending on how he grows. His size-to-speed ratio is incredible. Hayes is a ‘track guy,’ which is some-thing you don't usually hear when talking about the defensive line.On the film, the things you will like about Hays is his great ‘get off’and pursuit of the ball carriers down the field. Hayes’ pass rushabilities are second to none. He actually has pretty good tech-nique for a junior in high school.

I think Hayes has the talent to play the ‘Leo’ position in OhioState’s defense. But I also think he can play anywhere along theline if needed. I have a feeling that if Hayes ever got to 280-290pounds, he would remind people of Cam Heyward as a DT.SP

KENNY HAYES, DE, 6’5, 240, 4.7, TOLEDO WHITMER3

Kurelic’s Take: Miller is one of the country’s premierquarterback prospects. He has been a varsity starter since

his freshman year. Miller is a terrific athlete who puts great pres-sure on defenses with his ability to throw or run. Miller threw forover 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns during his junior season. He also rushed for over 700 yards and 18 TD’s. Miller has approx-imately three dozen scholarship offers. His list includes OhioState, Florida, Alabama, USC, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee,Oklahoma, Miami, West Virginia and Cincinnati. Miller has a 3.1GPA. Porter’s Take: Miller has great arm strength and he throws on

the run very well. He scrambles and still looks to beat you with hisarm. He uses his teammates well.

He has running back abilities in a quarterback. I would say hecompares to former West Virginia quarterback Pat White or evento a Michael Vick.

His ability to run a complex offense and his semi-polishedthrowing motion push him way ahead of the quarterback curve. When he gets on a college campus, he should progress up thedepth chart pretty fast because of his development already.

NF

BRAXTON MILLER, QB, 6’2, 190, 4.5, HUBER HEIGHTS WAYNE2

Kurelic’s Take: Miller made 116 tackles including sixsacks and eight tackles for loss during his sophomore sea-

son. He had another 100 plus tackle season as a junior. Miller bench presses 300 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in

4.8 seconds. He had scholarship offers from Ohio State, Florida, Michigan

State, Purdue, UCLA, West Virginia, Stanford and a few othersbefore he committed to the Buckeyes on Oct. 29, 2009. Millerhas a 3.4 GPA. Porter’s Take: Miller from Canton McKinley is built to play the

Leo position in the OSU defense. He will be the backside defen-

sive end that can rush the passer or occasionally drop into cover-age on zone blitzes.

Here are some of the things that stand out about Miller on film:He uses his hands well; he uses his long arms; he plays offblocks to get to the ball carrier; he pursues to the ball and chasesfrom the backside; he is a hitter; he will strike you and he blowsup blockers; and he plays hard and is disruptive.

Of course, McKinley is the same school that sent the likes ofJamar Martin, Kenny Peterson and Mike Doss to OSU about adecade ago.

SP

STEVE MILLER, DE, 6’4, 240, 4.8, CANTON McKINLEY5

Kurelic’s Take: Grant is a super cover cornerbackprospect who can lock down opposing receivers. Grant has

tremendous speed and quickness. He plays boundry cornerback, wide receiver and returns punts and kickoffs.

Grant intercepted three passes his sophomore season and acouple more his junior season.

Grant’s father Ted Jones was an All-Big Ten wide receiver atMichigan State.

Grant has over two dozen scholarship offers. Ohio State is No.1 on his list followed by Michigan State, Michigan, USC andIllinois. Grant has a 3.1 GPA.

Porter’s Take: Grant made his name freshman year as a statequalifier in track and since then he has never had to look back.

He has been known as a "speed guy" by most, but Grant’sskills on the field are catching up with his immense talent.

Grant has the size and speed to be an elite cover corner in col-lege football.

Doran is being recruited as a speed guy and will not disappointcoaches when he gets on campus next fall.

During one-on-one drills at the OSU camp, he stood out cover-ing some of the best wide receivers in the state.

Sub

DORAN GRANT, DB, 5’11, 175, 4.4, AKRON SVSM4

Kurelic’s Take: Bennett was a starter at guard hissophomore season and tackle on both sides of the ball his

junior season. Bennett runs well for his size and is very athletic. He has the ability to be a great player on either side of the ball atthe next level, but would prefer to play defensive end. Bennetthas a long list of scholarship offers that includes Ohio State,Oklahoma, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Nebraska,Michigan, Northwestern, Cincinnati and West Virginia. However,in mid-April he narrowed things down to Ohio State andNorthwestern before choosing the Buckeyes. Bennett has a 3.2GPA.

Porter’s Take: Bennett has a great ‘get off’ at the snap of theball. He has exceptional explosion for a prospect of his size andhe has a nasty attitude. He is a finisher and extremely aggressive. He just dominates high school competition on just about everysnap of the ball.

I know A.J. Hawk came from Centerville and he went on andwas an All-American at Ohio State and he’s in the NFL now. But Ithink Bennett has a chance to be one of the best – if not the best– players to come out of Centerville.

Head coach Ron Ullery said Bennett’s the most recruited playerthe program has ever had.NF

Kurelic’s Take: Tanner is a left-handed quarterbackand safety for the Warriors. He threw for over 1,200 yards

during his junior season, but is being recruited as a safety wherehe made close to 90 tackles and intercepted seven passes.

Tanner has approximately 20 scholarship offers including OhioState, Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia, Northwestern,Minnesota, Pitt, Purdue, Illinois, Boston College, Arizona andStanford.

Tanner has a 3.7 GPA. Porter’s Take: Tanner is an elite prospect on and off the field.

He is a very smart safety who can support the run and be an

asset in coverage. He shows ball skills and an ability to makeplays.

Showed great man to man and coverage skills at Nike camp inColumbus this spring.

Sub

RON TANNER, DB, 6’1, 190, 4.5, COLUMBUS EASTMOOR8

Kurelic’s Take: Walker is a massive offensive linemanwith tremendous potential.

He played defensive tackle his sophomore season, and thenmoved to offensive right guard last season. Walker will play onoffense in college. He is very strong, has good feet and runs well.

Walker has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan State,Penn State, USC, Notre Dame, Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia andsome others. Walker says the Buckeyes and Spartans are tied atthe top of his list.

Walker has close to a 3.0 GPA. Porter’s Take: He is the most massive prospect I have seen in

the last four years. One college coach told me he looks like healready plays for the Cleveland Browns.

Keep an eye on his weight because he weighed in at 360 at thecombine and San Antonio, Texas. Blows defenders off the ball andcreates big time movement.

SP

AUNDREY WALKER, OL, 6’6, 330, 5.2, CLEVELAND GLENVILLE7

Kurelic’s Take: Vannett, despite playing in a run-orient-ed offense, caught approximately 20 passes with two touch-

downs during his junior season. He is a talented athlete who also excels on the Central basket-

ball team. Vannett has close to two dozen scholarship offers. His list

includes Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Notre Dame andPitt. Those are Vannett’s top choices along with Oregon. Vannetthas a 3.4 GPA. Porter’s Take: Huge target as a receiver and presents a cover-

age mis-match for college defenses. Can run well enough to get

down the seam and make plays in the passing game. His size also helps him dominate in the run game. Will get stronger blocking as he adds weight over the next few

years.

Sub

NICK VANNETT, TE, 6’6, 230, 4.75, WESTERVILLE CENTRAL10

Kurelic’s Take: Jones has the size and athletic abilityrecruiters look for. He also has a good arm and is produc-

tive. Jones led Glenville to the Division I state championship game

last season and a final record of 13-2. He threw for over 2,000yards included 1,000 yards in five playoff games. Jones also hadclose to 500 rushing yards in 15 games He threw for 19 scoresand had nine touchdowns rushing Jones has scholarship offersfrom Iowa, West Virginia, Michigan, Illinois, Michigan State,Cincinnati and a couple MAC schools.

Jones has a 3.5 GPA.

Porter’s Take: Jones played just about a perfect game as a16-year-old in the Division I state championship game. If not for afew dropped balls near the end of the game, Glenville shouldhave sealed their title.

He has an obvious elite skill set for a quarterback when itcomes to height and speed.

Showed great upside at the Nike Elite 11 QB camp inColumbus Ohio this May.

SP

CARDALE JONES, QB, 6’5, 215, 4.5, CLEVELAND GLENVILLE9

Kurelic’s Take: DePriest has been a varsity starter infootball, basketball and baseball since his freshman year.

He played outside linebacker that season and linebacker, runningback and quarterback the past two seasons. DePriest is a big-time hitter with good range. He combines good strength withexcellent speed. DePriest has dozens of scholarship offers. Hislist includes Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, WestVirginia, Michigan, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame. DePriest has a3.3 GPA. Porter’s Take: I have seen DePriest at a combine, during a

game, and on film. Never have I come away disappointed.

He just looks like a middle linebacker when you see him in per-son. He has a very thick build with big shoulders to dish out abeating. As I watched the film, here are some of the comments Icame up with: He has great agility; he shows great burst; he hasclosing speed; he squares up shoulders and strikes ball carriers;he is a great blitzer off the edge and up the middle; he fightsthrough blocks and runs through trash to get to the ball. He is asuperior athlete for his size – he shows this at tailback. He has agreat change of direction and plays light on his feet. He blows upblockers. Trying to sum all of this up, there is only one phrase Ican think of to describe DePriest – War Daddy. NF

11. EILAR HARDY**, DB, 6’0, 175, 4.5, PICKERINGTON CENTRALKurelic’s Take: Hardy has been a starter since the beginning of his

sophomore season and has played both safety and cornerback.Hardy 85 tackles and intercepted three passes his first season andhad 75 tackles and three more interceptions last season. He has close to two dozen scholarship offers, but says he is mostly

focusing on Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Cincinnati,Kentucky, West Virginia, Arizona, Colorado and Boston College.Hardy has a 3.0 GPA. Porter’s Take: Hardy is an ultra smooth athlete with long arms. He

flashes great speed. He could play corner or safety if needed. One ofthe top DB’s at the Nik Combine in Columbus in May.

12. CHASE FARRIS**, DE/DL, 6’6, 265, 5.0, ELYRIAKurelic’s Take: Farris was a starter at defensive tackle his sopho-

more season. He moved to defensive end and also started at offen-sive right tackle his junior season. Farris made close to 50 tacklesincluding 20 for loss and 7.5 sacks last season. He had scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan State, West

Virginia, Notre Dame, Illinois, Indiana, Cincinnati, Louisville and a fewothers before committing to the Buckeyes in March. Farris has a 3.9GPA. Porter’s Take: Farris has so much athletic ability its hard to predict

where he will play in college. With a long frame and room to grow hehas so much upside as he transitions to college. Right now he hasthe athletic ability to play DE or LT in college but if he gets bigger DTis not out of the question. He destroys his high school competition onfilm.

13. GREG BROWN**, DB, 5’10, 185, 4.45, FREMONT ROSSKurelic’s Take: Brown is a two-year starter at cornerback and also

started at wide receiver during his junior season. He has good cover-age skills and reacts quickly once the ball is in the air. Brown pickedoff five passes last season. He had scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State and

Central Michigan before committing to the Wolverines on Sept. 2.Brown has a 3.6 GPA. Porter’s Take: Each time I went to see Fremont Ross play this

past season Greg Brown made plays. Whether is was blowing up aWR on defense or making a play with the ball in his hands on offenseI was never let down. Good size for a corner, shows great toughness and tackling ability

at these early stages of development.

14. RAY HAMILTON**, TE, 6’5, 225, 4.75, STRONGSVILLEKurelic’s Take: Hamilton is one of two top tight end prospects in

the Buckeye State. Hamilton caught 22 passes, averaged 16.7 yardsper catch and scored five times during his sophomore season. Hecaught another 20 passes for 300 yards and a touchdown despiteplaying in just six games last season due to undergoing surgery fortorn meniscus in his right knee. Hamilton has two dozen scholarship offers including Wisconsin,

Iowa, Michigan, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Cal, Stanford, and Pitt. Hamilton says those are some of his top choices along withOhio State, Michigan State and Alabama. Porter’s Take: Might be the best blocking TE in the class because

he gets off the ball quick and runs his feet on contact. Shows WRlike ball skills in the passing game and even flexes out at WR pre-senting a mis-match for the defense. Has frame to add weight ifneeded down the road.

15. ROGER WILLIAMSON**, WR, 6’2, 180, 4.5, DAYTON DUNBARKurelic’s Take: Williamson is the complete wide receiver prospect.

He has pretty good size and speed, runs well and above averagestrength for a wide receiver. Williamson, bench presses over 225pounds and has a 33-inch vertical jump. He has scholarship offers from Michigan State, Minnesota,

Stanford, Maryland, Boston College, Syracuse, Indiana, NorthCarolina State and a number of MAC schools. He has a 3.4 GPA. Porter’s Take: Super smooth athlete who makes his job look easy.

Will be recruited on both sides of the ball as one of the best pure ath-letes in the state of Ohio. Did not get a lot of snaps at WR during hisjunior year but that does not stop some from thinking he is the bestWR in the class of 2011.Also one of the best DB prospects also.

16. JARRETT GRACE**, LB, 6’4, 235, 4.6, COLERAINKurelic’s Take: Grace has been Colerain’s starting middle line-

backer since the beginning of his sophomore season. He made closeto 100 tackles each season. Grace has the size to play either middleor outside linebacker in college, or even grow into a rush defensiveend type guy. Grace had over a dozen scholarship offers including Notre Dame,

West Virginia, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Kentucky, Stanford,Colorado, Syracuse, Indiana and a few others before he committed tothe Fighting Irish at the Notre Dame spring game. Grace has a 4.0GPA. Porter’s Take: Plays LB with a nasty streak and will hit ball carri-

ers like a ton of bricks. Easily the biggest LB in the state of Ohiowhich makes some think he will be a DE in college. Has very goodability for a big man and has a high ceiling for growth potential.Reminds some of former Buckeye LB Andy Katzenmoyer.

17. SHAQ WASHINGTON**, WR, 5’9, 165, 4.47, MAPLE HEIGHTS Kurelic’s Take: Washington is not real big, but he is very fast and

talented. Washington had a great junior season playing quarterbackas he led Maple Heights to the state championship game and a finalrecord of 12-3. He passed for 2,510 yards and 28 touchdowns with10 interceptions. Washington also rushed for 1,784 yards and 21touchdowns. However, Washington is being recruited as a wide receiver. He has

scholarship offers from Illinois, Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, AirForce, Iowa State and a host of MAC schools. Washington has a 3.8GPA. Porter’s Take: Washington has one of the best highlight films in

Ohio this year. Using his crazy agility and ability to cut on a dime heleaves defender after defender in the dust. College coaches hopethese skills translate to the next level as a WR or return man and thebig plays will come with it. With a kid like this the expression goes,“he would be hard to tackle in a phone booth.”

18. DERJUAN GAMBRELL**, DB, 6’2, 180, 4.5, TOLEDO ROGERSKurelic’s Take: Gambrell has a nice combination of size and

speed. Because of his speed and coverage ability Gambrell wasrecruited as a cornerback even though he has been a starter at safetysince the beginning of his sophomore season. Gambrell made over60 tackles and intercepted two passes as Rogers finished with a 9-2record last season. Gambrell’s first offer came from Ohio State. He always wanted to

play for the Buckeyes so the recruiting process did not last long asGambrell committed to OSU in mid-March. Gambrell has a 2.6 GPA.

11-35

Page 11: Ohio High's 2011 Top 200

J JHUDDLE .COM 11JJ Huddle ’ s Ohio High

Ohio H igh Top 200

Porter’s Take: There is a huge demand for safeties that can coverman to man in the passing game these days, spread offenses havechanged defensive personal greatly over the last decade. Gambrellhas the body of a safety and the speed and ball skills of a corner.Don’t know where he will play in the secondary at the next level butthat’s a good problem.

19. ANDRE STURDIVANT*, LB, 6’3, 225, 4.6, GLENVILLEKurelic’s Take: Sturdivant made 90 tackles including 11 sacks dur-

ing his junior season. He played defensive end and inside linebacker, but will probably play outside linebacker in college.Sturdivant has scholarship offers from Michigan State, Illinois,

Indiana, Pitt, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ball State and a couple others. He says the Buckeyes have indicated they will likely make an officialoffer. Sturdivant has close to a 2.8 GPA. Porter’s Take: Sturdivant was a playmaker for the Tarblooders

defense in 2009. After missing the first few weeks of the season dueto an illness once he regained his form Glenville found a spot for himimmediately on the defense although it was already one of the bestunits in Ohio with out him. Sturdivant has played MLB, OLB, and DE and shows college

potential at all 3 spots. He can be unblockable when his motor is run-ning full speed.

20. CHRIS ROCK**, DE, 6’5, 255, 4.8, COLUMBUS DeSALES Kurelic’s Take: Rock has been a varsity starter since the begin-

ning of his sophomore season. He made 64 tackles including 15sacks that season. Rock plays defensive end for the Stallions. Hecould play that position or defensive tackle in college. Rock has scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State,

Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, West Virginia, Pitt, Indiana,Cincinnati, Boston College, Nebraska, Virginia and a few others.Rock has a 3.5 GPA. Porter’s Take: Seems like colleges recruit Ohio just to get big ath-

letes like Rock. Will overpower offensive lineman with his size andstrength and can also beat the tackle off the edge with his quicknessand speed. May outgrow DE in college but right now is one of thebest DE’s in Ohio.

21. BRAD CARRICO**, DL, 6’6, 270, 4.85, DUBLIN COFFMANKurelic’s Take: Carrico is a strong and tough force in the middle of

the Shamrocks defensive line. He made 74 tackles including eightsacks during his junior season. Carrico had eight other tackles forloss and tipped five passes as Coffman finished with a 12-1 record. Carrico had scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Kentucky, Indiana,

Purdue, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Illinois and a couple others beforehe committed to the Fighting Irish in March. Carrico has a 3.2 GPA. Porter’s Take: Carrico played DE in 2009 but his frame is dictating

that he will play OL in college. Has the perfect blend of long arms andgreat feet to protect the passer in college. If he dedicates himself toplaying OL might have the stuff NFL teams look for down the road.

22. CHRIS CARTER JR.*, OL, 6’5, 340, 5.4, CLE. JOHN KENNEDYKurelic’s Take: Carter Jr., is a massive and powerful young man

who can dominate at times. He started at offensive tackle his sopho-more season and offensive tackle the first half and offensive guardthe second half of his junior season. Carter, who will need to keep hisweight down, has plenty of potential. He had scholarship offers from Ohio State, North Carolina State

and several MAC schools before committing to the Buckeyes onMarch 15. Carter has a 2.8 GPA. Porter’s Take: One of the most powerful lineman in the class of

2011. Built like an NFL OL with a low center of gravity and great

base. Carter destroys high school competition and will need to devel-op the finer points of OL play in college.

23. DEVIN SMITH*, WR, 6’2, 170, 4.52, MASSILLON WASHINGTONKurelic’s Take: Smith was a varsity starter for Akron Ellett his

sophomore season before transferring to Washington for his junioryear. Smith had a big year for the Tigers catching over 50 passes for989 yards and 15 touchdowns. Smith has scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, West

Virginia, Cincinnati, Indiana, a number of MAC schools and some oth-ers. Smith has close to a 3.0 GPA.Porter’s Take: Reminds some of Ohio State’s WR Devier Posey as

a WR. Big framed target with good speed who can tear apart adefense. Canton McKinley double covered Smith on every play thisseason which speaks volumes to his talent.

24. TOMMY BROWN*, OL, 6’5, 300, 5.3, AKRON FIRESTONEKurelic’s Take: Brown has been a varsity starter at offensive right

tackle and defensive end since his sophomore season. He passesthe ‘look’ test and is also very productive. Brown, who has prettygood feet, moves defenders off the line. He had offers from Akron and Ohio University before visiting Ohio

State in early April, landing an offer from the Buckeyes and commit-ting. Brown has a 3.3 GPA.Porter’s Take: At 6-5, 330 Brown is hard to miss on the football

field and recruiters did not miss him this winter during recruiting. Builtwith massive arms, legs and torso Brown is the perfect recipe for aBig 10 offensive lineman. Brown is well suited to drive defenders offthe ball and create massive running lanes for the running back.Watching his high school tape he bulldozes his competition on playafter play.

25. DONAVON CLARK*, OL, 6’4, 290, 5.2, FINNEYTOWN. Kurelic’s Take: Clark started every game at right tackle as well as

on the defensive line during his sophomore season. He played thesame positions his junior season and is being recruited as an offen-sive lineman. Clark moves well for a big guy and is tough to beat inpass protection. He has scholarship offers from USC, Cincinnati, West Virginia,

Indiana, Minnesota, Louisville, North Carolina State and a few others.Clark’s GPA is near the 2.5 mark. Porter’s Take: Each time I see Donavon Clark he gets bigger. At 6-

4 and still growing he has as much upside as any OL in the class. Many college coaches think he can develop into an NFL OL down theroad and will be fighting to land him on campus.

26. JESSE HAYES**, DE, 6’4, 230, 4.7, CINCINNATI MOELLERKurelic’s Take: Hayes is the top prospect this year at one of the

top prep football programs in the state of Ohio. He made 50 plustackles including six sacks during his junior season. Hayes is versatilewith the ability to stuff the run and rush the passer. Hayes has over a dozen scholarship offers including Florida State,

Wisconsin, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky,Arizona, Nebraska and North Carolina State. Porter’s Take: There are times when breaking down film Hayes is

unblockable. He just seems to be around the ball on every playwhether is across the field or coming right at him. Hayes has the skill set of an OLB which translates to and ultra

quick DE coming off the edge in high school. This makes for a verydisruptive combination for opposing offenses.

27. ANTONIO UNDERWOOD*, OL, 6’3, 300, 5.2, SHAKER HEIGHTSKurelic’s Take: Underwood played some guard and some offen-

sive tackle his sophomore season. He played tackle his junior sea-son, but is expected to play guard in college. Underwood had scholarship offers from Toledo, Akron, Kent State

and Miami of Ohio before landing one from Ohio State in mid-Marchand quickly committing to Bucks. Underwood has a 2.3 GPA. Porter’s Take: Underwood caught my eye early in 2009 when

Shaker Heights played Solon High School and he faced Ohio StateDE verbal Darryl Baldwin. Underwood used that performance to cata-pult himself into the recruiting spotlight.

28. STEVEN DANIELS*, LB, 6’1, 230, 4.75, ST. XAVIERKurelic’s Take: Daniels played outside linebacker his sophomore

season and a combination of linebacker and safety his junior season.Daniels made 82 tackles including 14 sacks last season with 14 tack-les for loss. Daniels has scholarship offers from West Virginia, Cincinnati,

Indiana, North Carolina State, Louisville, Boston College and a fewothers. Daniels has a 2.5 GPA. Porter’s Take: Thick framed MLB who can play inside or outside

LB if needed. Has the ability to strike a ball carrier and stop him deadin his tracks. Very strong at the point of attack and show ability to runacross the field and make plays.

29. KEVIN WILLIAMS**, DL, 6’1, 270, 4.9, HOLLAND SPRINGFIELDKurelic’s Take: Williams is a very active and productive defensive

lineman who was a starter at Toledo Central Catholic his sophomoreseason before transferring to Springfield for his junior season. Hemade 157 tackles including 15 sacks and 30 for loss. Williams had scholarship offers from Nebraska, Michigan State,

Michigan, Illinois, Stanford, Syracuse and a host of MAC schoolsbefore he committed to the Cornhuskers in mid-April. Williams has a3.2 GPA. Porter’s Take: Has the athletic ability to play TE in high school but

will be headed to DT in college. Possesses very quick feet for a play-er of his size. Has the ability to beat the opponent at the snap of theball with his great quickness. Williams will be very disruptive in col-lege.

30. A.J. JORDAN**, WR, 6’1, 170, 4.45, TROTWOOD-MADISONKurelic’s Take: Jordan is a talented athlete who possesses good

speed and has good hands. He caught 30 passes and scored sixtimes during his junior season. Jordan has approximately 20 scholarship offers. His list includes

Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Pitt, North Carolina, West Virginia,Lousville, Missouri, Cincinnati and a host of MAC schools. Jordanhas a 3.4 GPA. Porter’s Take: Jordan has some of the best ball skills in Ohio

meaning when the ball is up in the air, Jordan usually comes downwith it. He can get vertical on a defense with ease and has greatchange of direction skills which help him create separation versesdefenders.

31. SEAN DUGGAN*, LB, 6’4, 215, 4.7, ST. XAVIERKurelic’s Take: Duggan is one of the fastest rising prospects in the

state of Ohio. He played the first three games of his junior season atoutside linebacker before moving inside for the rest of the season.Duggan made 31 tackles including three sacks, and intercepted twopasses.Duggan has close to a dozen scholarship offers. His list includes

Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Boston College, WestVirginia, Duke and a number of MAC schools. Duggan says BostonCollege is his early leader. He has a 3.5 GPA. Porter’s Take: Great size for a LB in high school and can play

Ohio H igh Top 200

MLB or OLB. Shows coverage skills and the ability to track a ball car-rier from across the field and run him down. Just scratching the surface of his potential as a great all around

defender.

32. AUSTIN TRAYLOR*, DE/TE, 6’4, 210, 4.68, WALNUT RIDGEKurelic’s Take: Traylor had a very good junior season on both

sides of the ball. He made 80 tackles including 14 sacks while alsocatching 20 passes for 389 yards and five touchdowns. Traylor has scholarship offers from Michigan State, Minnesota,

Wisconsin, Indiana, Boston College, West Virginia, Cincinnati and ahost of MAC schools. Traylor has a 3.1 GPA and scored a 19 on theACT. Porter’s Take: Play DE for Walnut Ridge but should move to Sam

LB in college. Has super athletic skills that make him “Special” for hissize. Has great change of direction and will chase a ball carrier relent-lessly. Shows a great range to make plays on defense.

33. RYAN KELLY*, OL, 6’5, 260, 5.0, W. CHESTER LAKOTA WESTKurelic’s Take: Kelly was a starter at guard his sophomore year.

He played center and offensive tackle during his junior season. Kellyis projected to play center in college. He is a big guy who moves verywell for his size. Kelly has several impressive scholarship offers including Florida,

Alabama, Florida State, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, BostonCollege, Cincinnati, Illinois and North Carolina State. Kelly has a 2.6GPA and he scored a 20 on the ACT. Porter’s Take: Ryan Kelly has exactly the frame and growth poten-

tial that college coaches are looking for at big time programs. He hasa flat belly on a big frame with room to grow and also has very quickfeet. These traits will serve him well if he move to tackle in collegeand has to protect the QB's blind side. College tackles are often asked to block the best pass rusher a

team has to offer week in and week out and Kelly shows the potentialto handle his duty.

34. CHASE HOUNSHELL*, DL, 6’5, 250, 4.8, MENTOR LAKE CATH.Kurelic’s Take: Hounshell was a starter at offensive tackle his

sophomore season and offensive and defensive tackle as a junior. He made 65 tackles, had six sacks and 18 tackles for loss.Hounshell is being recruited as a defensive tackle or end. He has scholarship offers from Michigan State, Illinois, ,Central

Florida, Vanderbilt, Akron and a few others. Hounshell has a 3.4GPA. Porter’s Take: Long arms are an extremely valuable asset for col-

lege Tackles because you can get your arms on defenders beforethey can reach you. Hounshell not only has long arms but also has ahuge frame with the ability to add weight and remain athletic. Has achance to really excel in pass protection with his advanced skill set.

35. BRIAN MIHALIK*, DE, 6’6, 225, 4.7, AVON LAKEKurelic’s Take: Mihalik made close to 40 tackles including five

sacks as Avon Lake made it to the Division I state playoffs and fin-ished with an 8-3 record. Mihalik is a rangy prospect who has thepotential to be a very good one at the next level. He has scholarship offers from West Virginia, Indiana, Stanford,

Duke, Louisville, Arizona and a number of MAC schools. Mihalik hasa 3.7 GPA. Porter’s Take: Mihalik is all about “upside”. At 6’6” he may have

the longest wingspan of any player in the top 100. College coachesare betting Mihalik can add weight to his massive frame become afreakish defender down the road. You can see his athletic ability onfilm right now, just needs to add muscle and weight to be dominate.
