    a. Whats this E-BOOK all about and

    what it is not?

Within this E-BOOK you will find a road

map to your own financial freedom- if you

are willing to study and apply the things

that youre going to learn. It is divided into

three chapters based on three books found

in the old and new testaments of the bible:genesis, exodus, and the acts.

This book is NOT something that has

never been said. I always tell my fellowOFWs thatOFWs FinancialFreedom Biblewas not made to invent something new.

Yes, we give the same financial advice that

your great, great, great Grandmother would

give, only that we keep our teeth intact. I

suggest that you should continue to read

and learn from a lot of different people.

The steps presented in this book and its

result may differ from person to person,

depending on your current financial status,

definition of financial stability and lifestyle

    that you desire.

For instance, a 30,000 php per month

income for Nena may be more than enough

for her and her family. They ride tricycle

going to market, buy unbranded clothes,

and let her children bring home - made

snacks to school. But a 500,000 php per

month income for Pepe might not be

enough because he loves to go on cruise

three times a week, and he buys vintage

bags and watches. He takes breakfast to

luxurious hotels in Hongkong, eats lunch in

Paris and drinks expensive wine in Spain

after dinner. (Of course this story is only

    from my wild imagination!).

The point here is that financial success

and satisfaction is different for each of us.

There are many great financial and

investment books out there today and there

are even more in our past that you can

learn from. This eBook is an on-time,

proven formula especially made for OFWs

for them to create financial abundance

defined in their own terms and fulfilment.

    Enjoy Reading and Happy Learning!

    CHAPTERI

    GENESIS

The first book of the old testament,

which means origin. Many OFWS dreamed

to be financially free, but they didnt know

how to start. Where do you begin? What

should you do to achieve your goal? This

chapter will allow you to identify your goals,

and the step by step plan on how you are

going to achieve it. Opportunities for your

financial freedom is everywhere, you just

have to know when and how to grab it.

that is, goals that do not inspire them. Tony Robbins

So now your dream of working overseas

    finally came true:

    You can now send dollars back home;

you can now buy brand new shoes, laptop

But at the end of the day, you may

begin to ask yourself is this enough?

    After this Whats next?

Its a sad fact, but quite a large number

of OFW go home broken and can barely

survive after three months from the timethat they went back home.

No matter how long they have been working

    abroad 2, 3, 5, 10 or even after 20

loooooooong years, the story has been toldand the history repeats itself over and over

again. OFWs were left with no other choice

but to find a job abroad AGAIN to put foods

    on their tables.

Its scarybut it still happens up to this

    moment.

Sometimes you may feel trapped on

your routine: 2 years of contract, 30 days of

    keep- it-short- or-youll-get-fired vacation in

    the Philippines.

So here is what I want you to do. Take

some time to remember again those days

when you are still sending your resume,

when you are still falling in line to get your

passport, when you are still walking under

the heat of the sun to complete your

    requirements, medical qualifications before

you can go out of the country. Despite of

the pain and discomfort, what pushes you to

    go through?

    What is that Big why?

    Some may say:

I want to send my siblings to college.

    I will pay our debts.

I will buy a house and lot and put up a

    small business.

    All of these are fine.

    Its our duty anyway.

But have you ever stopped to think of what

you can do with your earnings aside from

    paying your monthly bills?

Before we get more serious about the topic,

I want to ask a crazy favor from you.

Tonight, I want you to grab a pencil and

paper, spend at least 5 minutes to write

your dream. Dreams and wishes that

    excites you!

You can also draw and collect pictures thatrepresent your dream or dreams.

can readily see it upon awakening and

    before sleeping.

For someday it will manifest itself!

I wish to talk more about how to achieve

The way towards financial abundance is

a planned expedition, you must be specific

    about:

    1. Where you want to go,

    2. When you want to arrive,

    3. Where you are now (the starting point).

The initial step towards your financial

freedom is your conscious decision to be

free. You have to let go of anything in the

past that has hindered you from achieving

your goal. Keep telling yourself: I will

arrive at the goal, and I will pass through

whatever is required of me to arrive.

It is necessary to know and be open

about your current financial situation for

you to determine the right vehicle that you

can use and the right path to take in order

The good news is, you dont have to pay a

financial analyst to check your current

    financial status.

You can make your own Statement of

Assets and Liabilities or SAL, and thats

what we are going to do now!

    Ready?

furniture and gadgets. There are many kind

of assets, but also take note that the

monetary value of an asset may change as

    year pass by.

    3. List all your liabilities.

Liabilities are the things that you have to

pay. Examples are house rentals, debts or

Personal Net Worth is increasing every year,

it means that you are saving well financially.

But if your Personal Net Worths result is

Thats what we are going to learn on thenext chapter!

    c.Financial Freedom:Where to start?

You may feel a little awesome knowing

that you have a high Personal Net Worth, or

you may feel guilty and desperate having a

negative result. Whatever the outcome is, I

still want to congratulate you. Now you are

ready to start for real. But where we should

    begin?

Begin by setting up a Short term goal

    (Monthly) and a Long Term goal (3, 5, 10,

    20 years).

Ideally, this should start before you go

    abroad.

Achieving these goals will be much

easier and will help an OFW keep

    focused, save you from unnecessary

spending , and motivates you to excel in

    your career.

If you are already working abroad, it is

never too late to set your goal AGAIN.

You can still examine your goals and

    plans.

    START BY SETTING UP GOALS:

    1. Prepare a Long Term Plan for you

For Example: Buy a new House and Lot,have a brand new car, put up for rent

apartments, or whatever you wish to have

    for the next 2, 3, 5, 10, and 20 years.

You may say that it is too early for you to

prepare for your retirement if you are still

on your 20s or 30s. But I urge you to

    plan earlier.

    As early as now!

In putting up your goals, you must also

include the exact amount that you will

need to achieve this goal, the exact

amount of money you wish to save, and

the capital that you needed to start a

business. Make sure that you also take in

consideration of your current income and

how long you wish to work abroad.

    For example:

For the next 3 years, Nena wanted to buy

her own house and lot worth 500,000 .

She also wanted to put up an Internet

Caf where she needs 50, 000 capital. Sofor the next 5 years, her goal was to earn

550,000. Her current income was 30,000

    as a Nurse in Saudi.

    1. Buy House and

    Lot

    January 1, 2016 500,000

    2. Computer Shop January 1, 2014 50,000

The next step is to create monthly steps

on how you will achieve this. For example,

Nena has to save 15, 000 from her salary

every month for the next three years.

This may also include having a part time

income like working online on your free

    hours instead of going shopping.

Nena may also learn how to invest in the

Stock Market or Mutual funds to let her

money work for her which we will discuss

further on the next chapters. Doing so,

Nena may achieve her goal on lesser time!

    2. Let you family know your financial goal.

We all know that theres a tendency for

every OFW to give everything they have,

even the last penny on their pocket.

This is especially true if someone call you

that your neighbour is dying, or needs a

tuition fee or whatever emergency that

your family in the Philippines may have.

We cannot avoid this. But they must also

know your financial goal and help you

achieve it by doing their part on saving.

My friend use to tell me that whenever

he sends money to the Philippines, his

family use to eat on a fancy restaurant.

And before that month end, they will callagain for him to send money, usually

    before his next salary comes.

Another OFW told me that her son and

daughter always want a latest phonemodel, month after month, as soon as a

new model was out of the market, they

will call her to send money for the gadget.

    Did you see the point?

Open the topic with your family. Be clear

on how long you are planning to stay

    abroad; 3, 5, 10 years more?

Include them in reaching your goal. You

may also want to discuss with them the

much do they need monthly. Remind them

    CHAPTER II

    EXODUS

This book from the Old Testament means

departure. While the first chapter helped

you to determine your starting point, this

part will discuss what should you do along

the way to prosperity and how to keep

    yourself on track.

Successcomes from taking the initiative and following up...

persisting... eloquently expressing the depth of your love. What

simple action could you take today to produce a new momentum

    toward success in your life?

    a. Tithe First (And why youshould!)

Did you ever experience financial troubleaside from the fact that you are working

overseas and earning more? Are you having

financial problem as of the moment? It may

well be your failure to tithe. Many areunaware of this great secret of prosperity.

The word tithe literally means one-tenth.

There needs to be a tithe of time, energy,

possessions, and ability, as well as actualsupply.

People who read this book usually get

scared or stop reading at this point. Tithe?

But what if I am only a domestic helper

who earns 10,000 monthly? Thats even not

enough for our monthly expenses! I am

already helping my relatives, my cousin,

second cousin and great, great grand

neighbour and their dog. Isnt that as good

give 20 pesos to the church! As soon as I

get my bills paid, then Ill start to tithe. This

is not the idea... The greater your present

difficulty is, the greater is your need for the

increase that comes from God when you

begin to tithe to Him. This is not to change

your view but to say that giving is the start

to open your door for more blessings in your

    life.

    b. Save Money and Make it a HabitSaving money is not like how you promise

to lose weight today and find yourself eating

a double patty cheese burger by tomorrow.

It is a habit. It should be regular and

    continuous.

So how much do you save every month?

(You can just whisper it to me so that noone knows how big it is!).

Seriously, I really hope you put money

    aside.

How do you become a money saver? Ill

first tell you how you dont: Not by using

    discipline or willpower. Discipline and

willpower only work in the short-term.

What works for long-term saving is

    understanding your spending habits. Once

you understand, you can change by building

new habits. Thats how you become a

    money saver.

Here are the steps that you can take todevelop a long term habit in saving money:

    1. Pay yourself then your bills.

Upon receiving your monthly salary, you

should pay your bank account first, before

spaying your monthly bills. (That is of

course after you set aside the 10% to tithe).

    Page 37

Set aside a desired amount every month

and learn how to live with what you have at

    hand.

Just like all your other bills, theres no

way around. You must pay it month after

month, unless youre in debt. Then the rule

    becomes: Pay Your Debts First.

    2. Track Expenses.

You probably have an idea of how much

you spend, but unless you keep track of

every cent, that idea is inaccurate at best.

Heres a simple way to track your expenses.

You probably carry a phone wherever you

go. Note everything you spend in your

    calendar.

    Page 38

When you get home, copy everything to

your personal finance tool. At the end of the

month youll know exactly how much money

youve spent and on what. You may be

surprised that you eat a lot on restaurants,

or you are spending too much for cosmetics

or phone credits. Doing so will make you

analyse where you are spending your

    income most.

    3. Make a Budget. Calculate how much

    money you need for:

    Food

    Rent

    Bills

    Clothes

    Leisure

    Etc

Remove costs from income. Now you

know how much you can save each month.

Even if its not much, its better than

    nothing.

    4. Wake Up

You must learn your spending habits. Youneed to understand why you buy things. Do

    you buy things to:

    Impress people?

Be a part of the group?

    Fill others expectations?

Next time you buy something, ask

yourself: Why am I buying this? What are

my real motives?Dont judge. Just notice.

It takes time, thats why you have to start

early. Your life will be simpler and youll

avoid many financial headaches. Trying to

keep the pace with others is a never-ending

game, one you cant win. Wake up.

    5. Increase your savings by increasing your

    income

As you are now starting to pay your debts

    through proper money handling and

    increasing your savings by understanding

your spending habits, then you can now

explore new possibilities in growing you

savings by raising your source of income.

your laptop by allotting your free two hours

Or you may wish to sell some homemadecookies, or snacks to your office mates.

    The choice is yours.

    c. Issues on Saving Money

No matter how much you wanted to

save and invest for your future, you may

encounter hindrances that keeps yoursaving plan failing. Here are some lists of

the common issues that OFWs usually deal

with and some wise tips on how to

    overcome them.

    1. I cant save money, because my family

in the Philippines keeps on asking for more

    money from me.

Since youre earning dollars, the family

back in the Philippines may ask more than

you can give. Some friends and distant

relatives might also designate you as the

go-to person for emergency (or not) appeals

for cash. They may also state reasons that

would make it hard for you to say no to.

Remember that it is always good to

help. But giving them from time to time or

more than what you can actually provide

will hurt both of you. These people will have

the tendency to become overly dependent

on you. Let them learn how to earn and be

    responsible for them at times.

Meanwhile, letting them know your true

financial situation can motivate them to

manage on their own. So learn to say no by

    prioritizing your own needs too.

    2. How can I save money when I am full of

    debts?

    Debt can cause unnecessary stress,

anxiety and fear in your life. The fear of

becoming out of control actually makes the

case worst. But being in a worse financial

state should firm you up rather than weaken

your determination to save money. First

accept the truth that saving is not possible

at the moment because you need to pay

your debts first. It is better to forego saving

for a while than suffer from charges. Give

yourself time to settle and eliminate your

financial debts. Start building your savings

when you are finally debt free. Be

responsible in paying first and avoid debts

    along the way.

    3. Dealing with the Wallet Drainers

OFWs face a great temptation of buying

the latest gadgets, designer bag and custom

    jewelries (sometimes charged to credit).And

some are constantly filling their balik-bayan

boxes with assorted items from rubber

shoes to canned goods, soap and

    toothpaste. Its partly shopping therapy

from the stress and overwork they face.

Having spent an enormous part of their

income rewarding for their absence in the

form of material goods, its no surprise that

many OFWs head home with little to no

savings at all. They then sell or pawn

luxurious items theyve bought at a portion

of the cost. So goes the cycle especially for

those who have to shell out placement fees.

If youre disposed to urge buying, hold

tight to your wallet and ask yourself why

you decided to work abroad in the first

place. If its to secure your childrens

education or to fund a small business, then

bid goodbye to that flat-screen TV for now

The title of this chapter is derived from a

book found in the New Testament. You will

learn how to increase your finances even if

you are still working abroad. The concepts

that you will learn in this final chapter may

overlap with what you have learned from

the second chapter- that is, while you are

working to save some money, then use that

    money to work for you.

    The present lack of attractive

employment opportunities in the country is

one of the main reasons why many Filipino

employees chose to work overseas. But

since working abroad often offers short term

    contracts, the Philippine Government is

encouraging OFWs to create their own

    business and livelihood opportunities.

However, the transition of an employee

mind set to an entrepreneur mind-set is not

expected to be as fast as a finger snap.

Most of the OFWs also wish to start their

business while they are abroad. They tend

to trust their business to relatives or

business partners which is partly risky.

An OFW who desire to jump his or her own

business would surely have a lot of

    questions:

    1. Do I have what it takes to be a successful

    entrepreneur?

    2. What are my purpose and goals in

    starting this business?

    3. What kind of business can I start while I

    am away?

    4. How much capital do I need to start and

how much money I am willing to risk?

    5. Is there any Government agencies that

can help me to fund my business?

    6. Am I willing to take the risk of trusting a

relative to take care of my business?

    7. What should I do to ensure success and

    profit of my business?

    8. Am I willing to attend online trainings?

What are the best business options that

    an OFW can start?

    1. FRANCHISED BUSINESS

Most of the big franchisors in the

    Philippines may disapprove applications of

OFWs due to his or her absence but there

are still handfuls that will. This is especially

true if the OFW can comply with the basic

requirements such as the business permit

and franchise contracts under the OFWs

    name.

    However, choosing a business partner

whom you can trust your business with is

the greatest challenge for an OFW who wish

to start this kind of business.

It may be your spouse, siblings, parents,

trusted friend, or a hired business partner.

Whoever it will be, they must have the

willingness to learn and to take all the

    responsibilities in sustaining the business.

They must be ready to attend trainings and

seminars to be conducted by the

    franchisors.

You must also prepare a separate

internal contract or agreement between you

and the business partner with regards to

    sharing of profits and losses.

We are all familiar with a sari- sari store

    or the friendly neighbourhood convenience

    store.

It is one of the great choices that an

OFW can start with if done properly.

Creating an inventory of merchandise and

products that will supply the everyday and

emergency needs is a big plus point for a

sari-sari store. It will be also great if the

location of the store is near the public

school, or places where many people pass

    by.

It is a very reliable business with a low cost

    and reasonable profit.

You can experiment by starting with 5,000

or 10, 000 and see what happens. Learn

how to manage it well. Just remind your

business partner to limit credits if you

    cannot refuse them.

    3. REAL ESTATE BUSINESS

If you have a higher investment capital,

then you might try to buy foreclosed

properties and turn them into For Rent

Apartments and dormitories that can give

you monthly passive income month by

month. You can also choose to develop bare

lands into leisure parks, fish ponds, farm,

parking lot, space for lease and more.

The problem in Real estate business is that,

many land and property brokers can easily

attract OFWs to this Good Investment

Scheme. When in fact, most OFWs have

    no knowledge, thorough understanding, and

proper training as to how a property can

    become a really good investment.

Before you jump in into this, be sure to

    have proper training and thorough

    understanding of this venture.

    4. ONLINE BUSINESS

    I personally recommend online business

especially if you are comfortable using the

    internet.

Having an online business these days is one

of the most convenient and most

manageable among other types of business

models perfectly fits the OFW lifestyle: A

business that you can manage personally
