Enter the historical world of Gold Reef City Theme Park and experience a magical trip down memory lane with our Heritage Tour.

Rich Beginnings

We invite you to join Veli, a modern day school boy, as he takes the journey of a lifetime in the company of Joe, a weathered prospector from the late 1800’s. This fascinating introductory movie tells the story about the earliest days of Jozi and the discovery of gold.

Underground Mine Tour

Descend into the depths of the earth and discover the riches of our history. Experience the heart-stopping sensation of travelling deep below the surface; feel the cold air and touch the rough rock that holds the wealth of a nation.

*Please note that the mine tour is only available for learners from Grade 1 to 12.

Gold Panning

Search for the elusive specs of gold that hold the promise of wealth the way it used to be done. Pan by hand and experience the euphoria of finding something shiny in the dirt.

Gold Pour

Liquid gold – there’s nothing quite like the magnificent glow that emanates from the molten liquid. This is an experience of the heart, soul and mind that you will never forget.

Ohlthaver House:

If you’ve ever wondered what it was like to be a mine official in the good old days, here’s your chance to join Veli as a dinner guest.

Dowse House:

Wander through the corridors with Veli as you learn about home-schooling (without the internet).

Oosthuizen House:

A “ghostly” experience awaits as you stroll down the passages of time and see what it was like to ‘waste not, want not’.

* The Heritage Tour lasts approximately one hour and thereafter the learners can enjoy the rides, if the Heritage Tour and rides package was booked.

Your little ones will be delighted with over 13 exciting rides in the Kiddies Corner as well as the Fun Train, Science Exploratory and the Animal Farm!

Unfortunately, preschoolers will not be able to go on the Mine Tour as they need to be older than 6 years.

Learners on the tour and rides or rides only package will have access to 17 rides which include thrill

and major rides. Your learners will also enjoy the additional attractions of The Fun Train, Science

Exploratory, 4D Theatre and Animal Farm!

*Ride availability may vary and can only be confirmed on the day of the visit

Prior booking is essential.

We only allow a certain number of learners into the Theme Park. Upon receipt of your booking form, you will be sent a pro forma invoice. The full payment must reflect in our bank account three business days before your intended visit. Once the payment reflects in our bank account a confirmation letter will be sent to you. This letter must accompany the school on the day of their visit. No booking can be confirmed until we have received the payment.

Please note that we can only accommodate schools from Wednesday to Friday. No bookings are allowed for weekends, public or school holidays.
